Chapter 166 - Vonny Wants To Continue Shopping
Chapter 166 - Vonny Wants To Continue Shopping
Yvonne could feel the cold aura emitting from the woman who was carrying her and she knew that her mother was about to blow her top at any moment now.
'I need to do something before she goes berserk.' she decided and then turned her eyes towards the woman who owned the store.
Madam Norma had been trying to gauge the expressions of the mother and daughter, whether they would accept her compensation or not when she saw that Yvonne was smiling at her.
"Thank you, Madam but that would be unnecessary and troublesome for you." She rejected the offer in a polite and respectful manner.
Raylene looked at her daughter who was speaking up for her and decided to let things go for now.
She then glanced at Madam Norma and smiled, though that smile was nowhere close to the genuine smile she had earlier.
Madam Norma felt regretful that she had been turned down but there was no way that she could force them to accept her goodwill.
"Please let me know if Miss Yvonne ever wishes for a dress from my store. I will personally prepare the best dress for her." She proposed and waited for Raylene's reply.
As this was not a commitment that they needed to keep, Raylene nodded in answer.
'It doesn't matter if we never call her to make clothes for Vonny.' She shrugged the matter away.
Yvonne could understand what her mother was planning to do and she had no qualms about it.
'These are all clothes for adults. I do not know how her designs for children would be.' She pondered and was sure that she had done the right thing by refusing this offer.
Madam Norma specialized in festive and beautiful gowns meant for special occasions hence Yvonne was sure that she would never require it as she never left the house for such events.
This incident had thoroughly destroyed Raylene's good mood which made her want to leave the place as soon as possible.
The two women who had taken Yvonne away from her mother apologized once again and went their merry way soon after.
Their work here had ended anyway as Raylene had paid Madam Norma therefore they had no more business that required them to stick around.
With this thought in mind, the mother carried her daughter towards the exit which was also the entrance that they had come in from.
'She seems to be in an awful mood.' Yvonne surmised as the woman had not spoken a single word since they had left the store.
Once they stepped outside, Paula followed after them at a respectable distance as earlier.
"Let's return home." Raylene finally spoke up and her words made Yvonne feel guilty.
She had wrecked her mother's pleasant mood and she needed to make up to her for it.
"Mama, Vonny is sorry…" She muttered as she clung to her mother's neck.
Raylene glanced at her from the corner of her eye and sighed when she noticed the pouty lips and the teary eyes.
"It was Mama's fault for taking my eyes off of you." She replied and snuggled her face closer to those round cheeks.
Her daughter was mischievous previously and would wander around the stores every single time, causing her and her husband to go on a treasure hunt in a panic to find where she had disappeared to.
However, for the past few weeks, their child had become obedient and sensible which had caused her to be lax in her attitude.
'No matter what, Vonny is still a curious child who likes to wander about.' She chided herself for being so reckless in her behavior.
If Raylene hadn't moved her attention to something else then she wouldn't have lost her child in the store.
Hence, she blamed herself for this incident ever occurring in the first place.
The self-blame was evident on her face which made Yvonne feel worse than before.
"Mama, are you not angry with me?" She inquired and what she saw was an immediate shake of the head.
"It was Mama's fault that you were taken away by those ladies without my knowledge." She explained as a sad smile appeared on her face.
Though it was the child who had willingly followed those ladies and had failed to inform her mother before leaving, she had not reprimanded her even once.
Now that she had been found, all Raylene wished to do was to take her back and keep her safe in the home where she could be found at any given moment in time.
If Yvonne had heard her thoughts then she would be grateful that this incident has occurred as now she would not have to make up excuses to stay back at home all the time.
However, as she had no clue about the thoughts in Raylene's head, she tried to make up for the troubles that she had caused.
Before Raylene could ask Paula to inform the coach driver to come to fetch them, she felt Yvonne tugging on the collar of her clothes.
"What is it, Vonny?" She prodded her to know what her child desired to say.
Yvonne looked up at her mother and put on an aggrieved face as she muttered in a soft voice.
"Will Mama not buy anything for Vonny?" She mumbled and pouted her lips in an adorable manner.
Her main aim was to prevent Raylene from returning to the mansion because this was supposed to be their day out that she had been so excited about.
The cause of her gloomy atmosphere was the child in her arms and hence that same child decided to improve her mood.
'If there is something that this lady loves then that is shopping.' Yvonne declared in her mind as she had observed the sparkle in her eyes whenever she bought stuff.
Raylene had been tagged as a shopping addict by her daughter and she was none the wiser.
Instead, she was surprised that her daughter wished to continue despite what had just happened.
"If Vonny wants to continue shopping then we shall do just that!" Raylene announced and this time moved in another direction.
Paula rolled her eyes at the mother and daughter pair who only knew how to spend the Earl's hard-earned money as she followed after them.
Smiling victoriously that she had managed to turn her mother's frown upside down, Yvonne rested her head on the soft shoulder and watched the stores that they passed to get to the next one.
The little girl was unaware of the troubles that she had brought upon herself by changing her mother's plans of returning to their mansion, thus she continued gazing at her surroundings in leisure as she was carried around.
The first place that they entered after {Golden Tailoring} was a store meant for children's clothing where Yvonne decided what she liked and they were packed up and sent to the Earl's mansion.
Raylene had once again regained her earlier enthusiasm but did not forget to keep a close watch on the girl, worrying that she might scurry away when she looks away.
Under the stern watch of her mother, Yvonne sighed but did not mind it while choosing her clothes for the next season.
