Chapter 154 - Reason For This Sudden Decision
Chapter 154 - Reason For This Sudden Decision
"Papa, tell him that he cannot do that!" Yvonne yelled out as she turned to the side and glared at the man who was sitting on the chair placed there.
Rutherford narrowed his eyes at his lovely daughter who had just raised her voice when there was no need for her to do so.
'Fine! I won't shout and will behave like a voiceless doll placed on this couch.' She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms across her chest as she sat still with a pout on her face.
The father of two sighed when he saw her angered appearance but he chose to let her be and not provoke her at this moment.
'Now let us deal with this first.' He glanced at the man who sat on one side while his daughter sat on the other side.
Yvonne's last and the longest class of the day was with this man who had made such an abrupt declaration of quitting his high paying job.
Not that it mattered to the heir of the Marquess family but this was a definite loss for Yvonne.
Rutherford had been in his office when the Butler asked him to meet his daughter in the parlor.
He had been worried that something had happened and that his presence was needed in urgency which was why he had rushed over and this was what he was met with.
The child and the man sat glaring daggers at each other while none of them spoke a single word to each other.
On his way over here, Butler Limo had explained to him what had happened with the tutor and his pupil which he had heard from Mrs. Jacinth.
Thus, now he had to help them find a fitting solution in order to keep both his daughter, and the Marquess happy.
'How long do you plan on just staring at our faces?' Yvonne scowled wordlessly at her father who had yet to say a word.
"So Marquess wishes to quit his job?" Rutherford hurried to say something when he noticed the impatient look in those amethyst eyes.
The appreciative nod he received from her when he had finally spoken up made him smile in return.
However, Yvonne's attention had long moved on to someone else which made him frown as he too turned in that direction.
Sullivan Samed was now facing two narrowed pairs of eyes which made him twist and turn in his seat.
'I will not change my mind!' He sneered at them as he built up his confidence to declare the conclusion that he had come to during his class with the child.
Yvonne on the other hand was scowling at him as she awaited what the possible reason for his sudden resignation might be.
'Not only did he announce that he quit he even did it, mid-class! The man has absolutely no professionalism!' She condemned his bad work ethic.
If this was her old world and he was an employee then there was no way that he would be let go of without either a three-month notice in advance or an exorbitant fine for breaking the contract of employment.
However, neither did the St. Claire's sign any such contract with the Marquess before employing his services nor did this world have a thing called an advance notice.
This made the little girl seethe in anger as she continued to glare at the man who was talking about leaving her halfway through her education.
"That is correct. I wish to quit teaching these children." Marquess Samed nodded as he acquiesced to the Earl's words.
This admittance caused the child to tilt her head as she sat up straight.
"May we know what the reason for this sudden decision is?" She inquired, making sure that she was speaking in an appropriate tone and with all of her manners in check.
Having finished her inquiry, she glanced at her father as though she was waiting for his approval.
'Was that better?' She wondered as she raised her brows at Rutherford who gave her a brief now in answer as she had been polite and elegant this time around.
Marquess Samed took in a deep breath before he could answer his most prized pupil whom he would soon be leaving.
"That is something that I cannot share with you." He refused to answer her question as that was a private matter.
'If she knows that I do not have an etcher then she might think that I am unworthy of being her tutor.' He surmised and then shook his head indicating a stern no.
This answer of his made the father and daughter pair to frown as this meant that they would not have any way of figuring out what was wrong and try to remedy it if they could.
'Looks like I need to think of something else to keep him back here.' Yvonne decided as she was not willing to let him leave her stranded.
She had decided to take him as her coach for the business planning that she was still in the process so if he were to quit now then who would she go to?
Her only source of information from the outside world was this man and she was determined to make him stay and continue tutoring her.
Seeing how Marquess Samed had stayed silent after his reply, Yvonne gritted her teeth but soon stopped when a certain thought came to her mind.
"Has Marquess decided to stop teaching Yvonne because she has done something wrong?" She polled as she bowed her head and her shoulders slumped in dejection.
This gloomy state of hers was similar to that in which the Marquess had come to the St. Claire mansion.
Rutherford wished to comfort his daughter but what was more important for her was to hear those words from the Marquess himself.
Therefore, he turned towards the other man and glared while pointed at Yvonne with his chin.
Marquess Samed was about to refute her words when he felt the vicious look being aimed at him which made him work faster as the Earl was terrifying when it came to matters concerning his children.
"Miss St. Claire is not the reason for the decision that I have taken." He blurted to appease the angry man.
Yvonne glanced up which made her pouting lips and her brooding face come into their view.
"Then why would you choose to leave your job?" She interrogated while fluttering her flashes.
Coming in contact with the adorable face and that inquisitive mind, the Marquess cursed himself for choosing this little girl as his pupil.
'If only I had rejected teaching her then I wouldn't be stuck in this sticky situation right now.' He chided himself for his past actions.
Rutherford had long forgotten to be mad at the Marquess as his eyes were taking in this new and adorable expression that his child had shown for the first time in his presence.
He had always seen her pleading face when she wanted something from him or the annoyed face when she did not get what she wished for.
This time he had seen her curious and inquisitive face which he had not seen before and this made him unable to look away.
'He is so obvious when he stares! He can never be a god peeping Tom.' Yvonne scoffed at her father but did not turn to look at him.
"That…" Marquess Sullivan Samed's hesitant voice was all that was heard in the silent room.
