Chapter 119 - A Huge Help
Since Yvonne's classes were all canceled for the next two days as a result of the instructions given by Captain Desmo Reel, she was allowed to sleep in.
Mrs. Jacinth did not wish to bother her on the rare leave that she had obtained and hence stayed outside until the child woke up on her own accord.
Thankfully, yesterday when she had taken her sleeping Little Miss from Master's hands, he had not noticed the mark on her forehead that had remained after she had injured herself.
She had helped her change for bed and had rubbed the medicinal paste on her feet once again before putting her to bed.
Thus, Yvonne spent the night snuggled under her blankets with her feet recovering well thanks to the paste from Mr. Toone.
While this child was still rolling around in her bed, the Royal Palace was busy preparing for the bright new day that had arrived.
Marquess Samed who had been asked to stay in the Parlor just like the last time, let out an exhausted yawn.
He had not slept a single second last night as he was preparing the report meant for the King.
Presenting a paper before the ruler of the land had caused him to get over-stressed about it and hence he spent too much time making it look worthy of being in the king's presence.
Now that he was back in the same place as he awaited the King's arrival, Sullivan stifled another yawn as he tried his best to not fall asleep here.
Sleep-deprived and overworked, he stared at the folders in his hands and then at the entrance of the room in anticipation of the steward.
'I still have a class after this!' He groaned inwardly as he recalled the class with the Royal Princess which was soon after this meeting.
Just as he was beginning to nod off, the doors were pushed open and a steward entered the parlor.
"His Majesty had asked for your presence." He announced with his head bowed.
Marquess Samed wasted no time as he got to his feet and followed after the man who had come to escort him to the Throne room.
The Throne room's entrance always elicited an awe-filled expression from him when he gazed at the images of the two birds carved onto the wooden door.
The door was pushed open and Marquess Samed followed the steward inside.
Everything inside the room remained the same except for the number of people inside.
The last time, it was King Ophire, Duke Brodie, and Marquess Samed who had a private conversation but the same could not be said for this time.
'One, two… five!' Sullivan screened the room and found five men who had not been present the last time.
The five men standing next to Duke Brodie were none other than the panel of ministers that had worked alongside him to assist the King in his administerial duties.
Each was responsible for a different department in which they held specialized knowledge and experience.
Sullivan bowed before the man sitting on the throne to give obeisance which was due to his name.
"Rise" A single worded command was heard which made him stand straight once again.
Following which he turned to the six men including Duke Brodie and greeted them as well.
All feelings of exhaustion had vanished into thin air when he observed that he was standing in the presence of some of the most powerful men in the Kingdom after the King and his Dukes.
"Have you prepared the reports you had mentioned, Marquess?" King Ophire inquired even though he could see the large folder in the man's hands.
Marquess Samed nodded his head in immediate acknowledgment and held up the same leather folder before his eyes.
King Ophire Rosenhyde let out a chuckle when he saw this gesture and gave him an appreciative nod of the head.
Soon Duke Maldock Brodie stepped forward to accept the folder and handed it over to this King.
The ruler of the land sat on his high throne and glanced over the papers that he had pulled out of the folder.
'So maybe he is deserving of the title of the smartest man in Amarthea.' He commented as he read what was written on the papers.
A large number of papers were bound together to form a thick booklet which held all the information that Marquess Samed had extracted from his prized pupil.
Ophire paid close attention to the matter written in it and nodded every few seconds as though he agreed with what was written in the report.
"Good good…" His mumbles were also heard in the silent room.
The other men in the room could not stand still as they focused their gaze at the bunch of papers in the hand of their King.
Each one of them was curious to know what was in those papers that had the King so engrossed.
After what seemed like an eternity, their chance to read the report had finally come.
King Ophire passed the report to his right-hand man, Duke Brodie who in turn passed it to the men.
The six men huddled together as they fought to get a better look at the report submitted by this young man who stood before them.
While they were busy trying to push each other out of the way, King Ophire kept his eyes focused on the man who had completed his task in a single night.
"I reckon that the daughter of Earl St. Claire was a huge help in the preparation of this report." The monarch of the land spoke while smiling at the Marquess.
Hearing those words, Sullivan felt a shiver run down his spine and his eyes widened when he saw the King's next actions.
"Given that this was also present in the folder." He added while holding up a small piece of translucent paper in his hand.
'That's…' Sullivan gulped his saliva when he recognized the paper that King Ophire had waved before him.
