Chapter 254 - A Trap
With Trisha keeping the siblings distracted, Teren chose to go straight to the second mansion and enter the master's room.
Although he will surely meet Kenavie and the other Serpen people in disguise, he was not worried. No, in actuality, that was what he was aiming for.
Teren ran without looking back. Surrounding the first mansion were thick trees. The fire had yet to spread that far since the land that the Drago House owns is akin to a whole big city. Even with a sea of hell blazing somewhere inside, it would still take some time before it spreads out.
Furthermore, they have specialists that take the fire out.
Teren took a turn around before he met the other Drago People. His and their appearance were in large contrast. With the word of the Devil Himself invading their place going around, everyone was wary of him.
Therefore, with one look, almost everyone immediately realized that Teren was their enemy.
"The Devil Himself is here!"
A man shouted in a loud voice as many of them turned invisible. The others who did not were much younger. It seemed that only those who have the experience can wear the suit that makes them invisible. Although, Teren still fails to identify which item was giving them this ability.
Spirit-Embedded items. As long as something has value, it has a Spirit of its own. Using a special method under 'taming', they were able to merge the Spirits into items.
Taming refers to the ability of an individual to control a Spirit to some extent. For example, Teren can interact with Spirits with some limitations. That's why, just a little more, he would become a Waymaker, turning Spirits into Great Spirits through some effort. He can also use the Spirits themselves to nullify another.
That's why having a "Spirit Farm" was his greatest strength. Now that it's gone... he was much weaker compared to before.
As for Spirit-Embedding, he didn't know the method. He could steal Spirits using the Great Spirit of Greed which his father gave him before he entered the Plane. However, even that was lost now.
Back to the situation, Teren was far from knowing every position of the Drago people that turned invisible, therefore, he had no choice but to charge forward with his right arm at the front. His balance was a little bit off with his left arm gone but he kept going.
People kept appearing everywhere as they blow fire from their mouths. But compared to the fire from the Elites or from Eron, this was nothing.
The faster he goes to the second mansion, the better.
At that point, Teren had entered the field of ashes. There was still some smoke rising as some cinders have yet to be extinguished. He was running in an open area and that's a problem.
Before the woods where he can hide again, there were eight youngsters about his age. Four of them, he was familiar.
"Be careful, although he only has the Great Spirit of Healing, the devil packs a punch."
First warned as she led the Dragolites from behind. Teren looked around and saw that there were no Elites. Of course, they could turn invisible.
'Are they using the Dragolites as baits? It's possible that they expected me to be aggressive, thinking that I can handle them.'
Teren was sure of this... however, he continued to charge forward. At this point, he was racing against time. Running away from Eron with the Elites took too much time. He couldn't really blame Trisha since if he chose better paths, he could've charged through the Elites and ran back here.
Not all his actions were correct. But fortunately, none of them were completely wrong which can destroy what he had set up.
"Hehe... what an idiot."
Third whispered as he saw Teren charging forward. He looked around, remembering where the Elites were stationed. Not just him but there are others as well. Some were nervous, some were unsure, some were ready, and some were scared.
The batting of their eyes, in the split second, before he entered their range of attack, Teren didn't miss any details.
Fwoosh*
The first Elite had shown up. Teren didn't expect this one so he could only barely dodge.
'If I'm correct...'
Teren then slid, evading the fire of the second Elite. This immediately surprised the rest. Was that luck?
Teren continued to look at the Dragolite's eyes. From what he learned earlier, they were trained to move in a specific formation so that they wouldn't hit each other while invisible. In other words, if these Dragolites knew where it was, Teren would know too.
There were eight of them, even First was giving him some hints as Teren continued to dodge the flames. Fortunately, they were not as spread and fatal as Eron.
"D-does he still has his sixth sense?!"
Second asked as her expression turned into fear. The infamous Devil Himself was getting nearer. Although the news that their Drago Lord had died in his hands, they did not believe it. However, fear was still shrouding in everyone's hearts.
Are they going to die?
Their natural instinct was to look for people to protect them. Even the Drago Elites were no match for him, only First could tolerate the fear and intimidation. She was used to it after all.
She looked around, the situation was going against them. That's when she noticed-
"Don't give hints to him!"
But it was already too late, Teren approached her. The pain when he punched her earlier returned as she covered herself in fear. Who likes pain?
Not everyone was like Trisha. Furthermore, even Trisha was unable to endure Teren as she submitted.
Swoosh*
"Sister!"
She saw her life flash before her. If she's experiencing this how about the others? But she couldn't even stand up. She cannot accept death yet she's too scared to move.
That was death, that was the Devil Himself.
But a second later, she opened her eyes and saw that there nothing happened.
