Chapter 358 - Childhood Engagement
"Hey!! Where are my wild mother-in-law and ferocious father-in-law?" Yuyu asked his green eyed beauty. "My queen, did I mention how glad am I to finally meet you again? I have been thinking about you all day and night since the first time I saw you last summer."
If Jun Yiran knew beforehand that he would be meeting his green-eyed beauty, he would have brought a big present for her. His future bride was so precious that he was afraid that no ordinary present could be presented before her. Indeed, the present must be special just like her.
Patriarch Jun\'s jaw literally dropped on the floor as he heard his grandson\'s talk. On one hand, he had his stiff son and on other hand, he had this slippery grandson. Although he was powerful and dignified, he still didn\'t hold the power to protect his grandson if he continued flirting with the Tang princess. He gulped when he felt a drop in temperature.
"You know him, baby?" Alcina questioned her daughter. She was afraid that Ryuu would pick the other kid from his collar and throw him out of the gates of the earth. He was just a second away from bursting like one big deadly volcano.
Sigh, why must the male in her life be so dramatic?
Faye nodded. Where did this strange boy come from? She still remembered that she met him once with that self-proclaimed sister of hers. However, she realized that this boy\'s weird manner of talking had yet not changed. He still was insisting on calling her the endearment given to her by her aunt.
She only liked when her aunt called her queen or any other family member. Truth be told, she found endearments quite troublesome. Just call her Faye or the Chinese name that his grandfather had given her. What was her Chinese name again? It was also known as Xin Fae. Xin Yichen insisted on adding his very first grandchild to the family registry. He used Fae instead of Faye as he believed she was their little fairy.
Back to patriarch Jun...
"You brat! Do you even know what you are saying?" Patriarch Jun was enraged. This boy was embarrassing him. He wished his son was as shameless as his grandson in the women\'s department. If his damned son was, he wouldn\'t have suffered from the mental trauma of not being able to find any grandchild in the future.
Little Yuyu pouted, "Grandpa, didn\'t I tell you last time when we came to the city that I found a granddaughter-in-law for you? You even said that if you liked my choice when we meet her next time, you will help me convince my in-laws? But it seemed that couple wasn\'t my real in-laws."
"Brat, when did I say?" His grandfather scowled. Now that little Yuyu had said this, he was reminded how his grandson had wreaked havoc when his father and uncle had forcibly dragged him home as he refused to come back. He had been singing praises of a green-eyed girl that he had seen in the city. Everyone was saying that the boy was possessed by some evil spirits. It seemed like the spirit was back in his body again.
"You told me when I said how uncle failed to find a woman for him but I found a granddaughter-in-law for you," Little yuyu said while tugging at his shirt. "Help me, grandfather. She is my eternal love."
Alcina\'s lips twitched as she beheld the precious scene unfolding before her eyes. How she could see the seriousness in the little boy\'s eyes despite his innocence and mischievousness! Looking at her daughter, she sighed. It seemed like this girl was gonna keep Ryuu on his toes. And she pities her daughter\'s future admirers.
It was another kind of curse to find Ryuu as a father-in-law. Haha. It seemed their days wouldn\'t be as bland as she was thinking earlier.
Xin Yichen had his eyes narrowed at his shameless kid. Stealing his beloved, no chance in this lifetime. His mean son had already kept his granddaughter away from him for five years. Now he wouldn\'t let another pest snatch her away from him. How great it would be if he had several grandsons to protect the woman of their family?
Ryuu raised his brow at the gutsy kid and said, "Kid, go home. My daughter is too young to get married. Since I don\'t believe in child engagements and all, I wouldn\'t let you roam around her."
"Why?" The kid wasn\'t the one to back off. "I\'m a handsome boy who will become an extremely handsome man in the future. I will work harder. So that I can marry your daughter one day. Why must you be so unfair? I know she is young but it doesn\'t mean I will stop trying."
Ryuu scoffed, "Express your eternal love when she is big enough to understand it. But if she rejects you, don\'t come back running to her again."
"Deal," Little Yuyu grinned. It seemed his real father-in-law was a reasonable man. "Take care of my girl, father-in-law. I will be back after a few years." His evil grin turned into a sweet smile as he turned to his girl and he added, "Take care of yourself, my dearest green-eyed beauty."
With this said, little young master Jun walked towards his guards to ask for a phone as he was going to share this joyous news with his mother too. After all, his mother was more joyous than him to know he found a girl.
"I apologize for my grandson\'s shameless behavior," Patriarch Jun was seriously embarrassed but he wasn\'t hurt. "But it seems he sincerely like little miss."
"You have nothing to apologize for, Patriarch Jun," said Alcina. "He is a kid. And kids are known for speaking their minds. As for the deal...I believe he is intelligent and smart enough to know its meaning. And whatever deal he made is between him and Ryuu. I hope my husband won\'t regret it in the future."
"Thank you for being so understanding, Mrs. Tang," The older man smiled widely at her. "But it seems my grandson is sincere about your granddaughter."
"Patriarch Jun, kids are too young to understand the meaning of their words," Ryuu said. "I have never believed in childhood engagements. She is my only daughter and the reason for my life. I would never give her hand to someone at this age. I know engagements at such a young age are common in our society to maintain good relationships between two families. Still, I am one of those people who would choose to give the freedom to their child to choose the kind of life they wanted. I hope my words won\'t offend you."
"A man who will not hesitate to stand up for his family in my opinion is a man worthy of my admiration," Patriarch Jun said with a warm smile. "I share your opinions, Lord Ryuu and it\'s the only reason I haven\'t asked for the engagement between the children." Turning towards Xin Yichen who appeared as proud as a Peacock, he sighed, "You have my admiration, Master Yichen, for raising such an excellent son. Lady Tang was not wrong when she used to gloat about having you."
Patriarch Jun was one of few people who knew about Ryuu being Xin Yichen and Tang Reine\'s son.
Xin Yichen smiled,"I haven\'t really taught him, Master Jun. It\'s him who has taught me how to be a decent father."
"You are too polite, Master Xin."
Xin Yichen and Patriarch Jun walked to the other side after congratulating them.
"The kid was so arrogant," Ryuu scowled once again when they were alone. Yes, he showed himself to be a bigger person by not saying anything to that shameless kid but it didn\'t mean he wasn\'t on his hit list. Instead, he was on the top number.
Plus, he never liked the idea of these childhood engagements. If Zhenyi wasn\'t engaged to Long Jie, he would have never let her marry him. He knew better than anyone the kind of man Long Jie was. Although Long Jie was not a good man, he was a good husband to his sister which was enough for him.
"I would call it confidence," Alcina added after a while. It was quite amusing to see a kid challenging Ryuu. "It takes guts to speak his mind before three big personalities. You, by all means, don\'t appear gentle to normal kids, and just by looking at his temperament I can say, he has a good upbringing."
"Still not enough for me to hand over my baby to someone," Ryuu reminded her.
"Ah, I hope we don\'t have more daughters," Alcina sighed.
"Cia, are you discriminating between girls and boys?" Ryuu looked at her, horrified. Although he would love to have a baby boy too, he still would never wish to not have daughters. Daughters or sons...he would love all his children equally.
"No, I am worried you will get a head full of white hair in the next few years, worrying to the moon and back about your daughters."
"I hate the thought of parting with any of my children."
"We just have one, Ryuu."
"Don\'t worry, love. We will have plenty of them..in the future."
