Chapter 239 - I Fear Becoming You
With this said, Zhenyi left the scene and after a while, she returned with several more art pieces.
She burned all of them before their eyes and there was no flicker of regret in her eyes for turning millions of dollars into ash.
Song Lily stood there with all the other family members and watched Zhenyi burning the art pieces before her eyes.
"Xin Zhenyi, just what did you accomplish by burning these paintings? Don\'t you fear that one day you will turn ash on the pyre of hatred? Do you know how much suffering Father has to go through to get all of these pieces? You sure are ruthless!"
Zhenyi suddenly stopped and turned around to look at her.
Song Lily sounded self-righteous as she looked at Zhenyi. When Zhenyi turned to look at her, she was shocked by the change in her appearance. Zhenyi\'s eyes were burning as she stared right into her eyes. If looks could kill Song Lily would be ashes now.
She saw Tang Reine in Zhenyi\'s eyes mocking her for still being a weakling. This was one of the reasons why Song Lily hated Zhenyi.
Zhenyi smiled coldly. "Do I fear anything? Yes, I do. I, Xin Zhenyi, am actually afraid of something. Do you know what it is?" She walked around Song Lily in a circle and then suddenly laughed," I fear becoming you. "
"You…"
"You said that I have low and dirty blood in my veins. What about the blue blood flowing in your veins which still can\'t make your black heart noble?"
Long Yuan who was seeing both of them fighting moved forward to intervene but felt a hand on his wrist. He turned to find Long Wei shaking his head. Long Yuan sighed and took a step backward.
After Zhenyi said that, she turned to walk back to her room but not before saying," Remove me from this mansion if you can because I\'m going to stay right here."

It was the middle of the night. The lights inside Long Jie\'s bedroom were still on. Zhenyi was sitting on the edge of the huge window. She was staring at the rain. The sky was thundering as if accompanying her silently.
She was still not over the fact that Song Lily could do anything like this to her own son.
A tear leaked from the corner of her eye but she didn\'t bother to wipe it.
Once she was in the safety of the thundering sky, she let herself fall apart. Her soul was bleeding. This was a pain she had never felt before.
What she said to Song Lily was true, she feared becoming her. She feared that one day she would be the source of pain for Long Jie like Song Lily was now.
Somewhere along the way, she started caring for the man she swore never to feel anything…
Those paintings burned a hole in her heart. She could not understand why Long Jie never removed them. Song Lily said it was hung on the wall after his twenty-first birthday, it had been a decade and he never asked anyone to remove those paintings.
Others might not know but those pieces of art were the biggest taboos of Long Jie\'s life. The story behind that particular piece of art revealed that it was placed inside Long Jie\'s room to mock him for his shortcomings and abusive childhood.
Instead of begging for his forgiveness, Elder Long was asserting that whatever had happened to Long Jie, he deserved it.
She wanted to know how Long Jie deserved to be abandoned by his mother? How he deserved to be treated as a plague since his childhood? How he deserved to be openly mocked as a mute and dumb? How he deserved to be chased out of his home at a young age? And most of all, how he deserved to be abused by his own grandfather?
Elder Long\'s barbarity left no stone unturned in leaving a permanent scar on Long Jie\'s mind and soul. He lost himself because of two monsters.
She has no words to describe the barbarity of these two people -- Song Lily and Elder Long. They were the real monsters.
Zhenyi touched the check where Song Lily had slapped her and sighed. There would come a day when Song Lily would beg for her son\'s forgiveness but she wouldn\'t receive it. She knew her husband\'s character quite well. He had been tolerating her mother for his father and brother\'s sake. If not for both of them…
*Ring! Ring! Ring!*
She heard her phone ringing and received a shock when she saw the caller.
Ming Jia.
She pondered for a moment before picking up the call. Why was Ming Jia calling her so late in the night?
"Hello?"
"Zhenyi, I heard you are at the Long mansion." Ming Jia was not asking her, rather indicating something else.
Zhenyi frowned. "Yes, Godma. Is everything alright?"
The booming sound of thunder could be heard in the background.
"Can you do something for me?" Ming Jia asked Zhenyi hesitantly.
"Godma, you\'re planning something, are you?" Zhenyi blurted, shocked hearing the latter whispering through the phone.
"Please, don\'t ask me any questions. We don\'t have much time for it, Zhenyi. The night will be ending in a few hours, thus, giving us the perfect timing for the raid."
"Raid?" Zhenyi repeated in astonishment.
"Will you do this for your Godma?"
Zhenyi blinked. What just she got herself into?
"I know nothing about the layout of the Long residence, so why don\'t we postpone or raid plans for tonight?"
"Check your mail. I just sent you one," Ming Jia\'s voice came.
"How on earth did you get a layout of the Long mansion?" Zhenyi whisper-shouted.
"It belongs to your mom."
