Chapter 62 Unreasonable And Mysterious Man
After hearing what Yan Wuyue had said, Zhou Mingrui started to think.
With his talent and ability, there was no doubt about his strength in the future.
However, if a great calamity did occur the next day, he would be completely crushed with his current ability. He might even be sent back to the illusionary spirit world.
"All right. Since you've said that, let's do as you say," Zhou Mingrui nodded in agreement.
He had merely come from the illusionary spirit world and could not tell the future like Yan Wuyue. He had no idea how strong the great calamity monsters that Yan Wuyue was worried about were.
"If all the spirits from the illusionary spirit world were summoned, would they be able to resist the great calamity?"
Zhou Mingrui suddenly thought of that.
Based on his memories of the summoned spirits he had seen, there might be hope.
"Don't think too far. Although all summoned spirits originate from the illusionary spirit world, not one has managed to do what you mentioned, whether in the past or in the future."
"But..." Yan Wuyue said after a few seconds of thinking, "If they really can do what you said, then the entire world's powers combined should be enough to withstand the great calamity."
"After all, according to legend, there are many divine rank summoned spirits in the illusionary spirit world."
"All right, let's not think about these useless things. We should conserve our energy in preparation for the battle this afternoon."
When Yan Wuyue did not receive a reply from Zhou Mingrui, she turned to look at him in confusion, only to realize that he was staring at her.
"Why are you staring at me without a word?" Yan Wuyue asked, looking slightly guilty.
"To be honest, this is the first boss I've come across who's personally injured a subordinate, then forced him to work without a break," Zhou Mingrui could not help but complain.
"You...what nonsense are you talking about?" Yan Wuyue quickly turned away, not daring to look Zhou Mingrui in the eye.
"Forget it, forget it. I did sign the contract to sell myself," Zhou Mingrui stood up, sighing and shaking his head.
"What...what do you want then?" Yan Wuyue asked, biting her lower lip.
"Nothing. The assessment only starts in the afternoon anyway. I shall go out and look for someone to chat with, to help me feel better after being repeatedly injured with no one to comfort me," Zhou Mingrui said as he tidied his clothes on the way to the door.
"You! You're not allowed to leave!" Yan Wuyue stopped him immediately.
"You're not going to even restrict my personal freedom now, are you?" Zhou Mingrui raised his eyebrows.
"Are you...going to look for Zhao Anqi?" Yan Wuyue, who had a feeling that he was, asked directly.
"Wow, that's a pretty good guess! Too bad there are no prizes for guessing, haha," Zhou Mingrui dusted his hands off and prepared to leave.
"You...you stop there!" Yan Wuyue shouted in a low tone.
"Why?" Zhou Mingrui narrowed his eyes and said, "I'm a free being, not your pet."
Yan Wuyue quickly tried to refute that, "I didn't mean it that way. I just...just..."
"Just what?" Zhou Mingrui pressed.
"Whatever it is, you're not allowed to look for that woman. You are to stay by my side today," Yan Wuyue stopped trying to hide her true intentions to restrict him.
Without a word, Zhou Mingrui stared at Yan Wuyue, causing her to tremble slightly.
"Haha, all right. I was just joking. I'm just going out for a walk to get some fresh air. I'll be back soon."
As he said that, Zhou Mingrui stepped forward and patted Yan Wuyue on the head. Then he turned around to leave.
"Why didn't I notice before how childish that woman is? To think I thought that she was a cold, noble lady at first," Zhou Mingrui grumbled as he walked out the door.
He thought back to the time when he first entered the world. With that arrogant look and unapproachable aura from head to toe, he had thought that Yan Wuyue was an ice queen.
But after meeting her, he realized that it was all a facade. In actual fact, her way of thinking was no different from a little girl's.
"She previously mentioned that because of the sudden arrival of the great calamity in her past life, she's never been in a proper relationship. Looks like it's true," Zhou Mingrui rubbed his chin as he thought.
Just then, a figure almost crashed into him. Although he was distracted, Zhou Mingrui managed to react and dodge in time.
The figure seemed surprised. However, it immediately readjusted its position and tried to run into Zhou Mingrui again.
"Eh?"
Zhou Mingrui exclaimed softly. Moments before the figure was about to crash into him, he swiftly turned his body and dodged successfully.
Plop!
The figure fell flat on his face.
"You...why did you dodge?"
As Zhou Mingrui was curious to know what was going on, the figure stood up suddenly and asked.
"Why can't I dodge?" Zhou Mingrui looked at the man as if he was some strange animal.
A middle-aged man in his thirties or forties, with brown, slicked-back hair, got up and glared angrily at Zhou Mingrui.
"Don't you have a conscience?" The middle-aged man asked again.
"There's no one around. What if you try to blackmail me?" Zhou Mingrui spoke bluntly.
"Blackmail you?" The middle-aged man was furious.
"Why, is there a problem?" Zhou Mingrui immediately raised his guard around the man.
"Do I lack money or fame? Why don't you ask around the academy about me? Why would I need to blackmail you?!" The middle-aged man said angrily.
"Crazy, " Zhou Mingrui gave up arguing with a person like that, and turned to leave.
"You're not allowed to leave!" The middle-aged man reached out to grab Zhou Mingrui.
Zhou Mingrui narrowed his eyes as a look of anger flashed across his face. Suddenly, the phantom energy throughout his entire body shook, and an air flow swept across the area with him at the center.
Instantly, the middle-aged man was sent flying.
"If you dare to touch me again, I'll make sure you stay on the ground for a while," Zhou Mingrui's tone had become frosty.
"You...do you know what you're doing?" The middle-aged man had never been treated that way before.
"Try me," Zhou Mingrui glared at the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged man closed his fist slightly. A wisp of faint, red energy appeared, but quickly disappeared.
"Fine, just you wait. I won't let you off," the middle-aged man threatened.
"As you wish." When he saw the man back down, Zhou Mingrui snorted and left.
After Zhou Mingrui departed, the anger on the middle-aged man's face dissipated. He stood up and leisurely tidied his clothes.
The features on his face began to twitch slightly and very quickly, they formed another face. Other than a few similarities, the new face was very different.
"I didn't expect this guy to be this vigilant. It won't be nice to come into contact with him by force either. After all, this isn't a research institute."
Even his brown hair had turned dark gold, and his tone had became deeper and more attractive.
The middle-aged man, no, he now looked almost 20 years younger, frowned a little. But immediately after, he smiled brightly and said, "Forget it. In that case, I'll try to find out more from the battle later."
Then, the man turned into an afterimage and disappeared.
