Chapter 175 - The End Of Dream
"Don\'t talk like that. We will look for your family," the boy chided her. He really wanted to help and that\'s why the boy who had a goalless and meaningless life, found his objective in saving her life even if he had to risk his for her. "Do you know something about your family that can help us to find them?" He questioned her.
Zhenyi was lying sickly on the ground. She was attempting to get up and remember what he was trying to say, but she just couldn\'t.
"Do you remember where you used to live? Any address or something?" He questioned her again.
Zhenyi weakly shook her head.
She remembered something that once Ryuu made her remember some numbers as he said they were playing a game and in order to play it, they had to remember it. Many people may find it weird but Xins knew that no matter how strong their security would be, but their kids would always be in danger and that\'s why they made them remember a number once their kids started talking and thus, Zhenyi was compelled to remember it too and miraculously she remembered it until now. Actually, she used to replay every memory she had of the outer world in her head so she wouldn\'t forget it, or sometimes, she would draw doodles on the ground.
"I know a number. I don\'t know what it was for, but my parents made me remember it and my dad used to make me repeat it every day when we were together," said Zhenyi.
"Do you, now?"
She nodded.
He picked her up on his back and started searching for the way he took before. Surely, somebody would help them, but little did they know that the enemies had found them again.
Many hours later, they found a locality. It seemed people lived here. At that time, not many people used to have phones but in the end, they found one.
The boy didn\'t know if the number was right or not but he attempted to push his luck and after a few tries, the number really got connected.
"The number connected," the boy yelled as he looked at Zhenyi\'s pale face. She seemed to have gained a little strength as she heard him. He passed her the receiver.
The person on the other side of the line seemed to have grown impatient as nobody was talking.
"Who is on the phone?" The voice on the other side of the phone said.
Zhenyi recognized the voice even after so many months. She still remembered the voice.
"R-ryu" the tears she was holding until now broke free as if someone had unlocked the dam.
"Zhenyi?" Ryuu asked, stunned.
"Ry-Ryuu, come soon. They killed Mama and the baby. Come, R-Ryuu!"
"Where are you now?"
"I don\'t know!"
"Is there someone close to you?"
And that\'s how Ryuu reached his sister.
It was a miracle for the Xin family because in their hearts they had accepted that Zhenyi was dead along with her mother. People working in Xin residence used to say that in those years, Xin Yichen had gone insane. He killed numerous people for no reason at all. Their trades were failing and within two years, Xin empire was on the brink of extinction as the current leader of the clan was destroying it himself and his father did nothing to stop them.
The fourteen years old Ryuu was burdened with the responsibilities of her mother\'s clan. When everyone expected that the last descendants of the Tang clan were killed, Tang Reine\'s teenage son emerged out of nowhere spilling water on the decades-old plotting and planning. Nobody could stop him from occupying the throne-like position of the Tang family. Although he was merely a teenager, he was feared and admired by everyone. Never had they ever imagined that such a great personality would be borne by Tang Reine.
Tang Reine\'s death changed the history of two families. Xin Yichen and Xin empire were ending but one day a phone call changed everything.
It was like Xin Yichen got a reason to live again. He had never expected that he would find his daughter ever and that too alive, but he did. And that day, he vowed to protect and cherish her more than any treasure in the world.
But his daughter was broken beyond repair.
----
That\'s how Zhenyi\'s dream ended. She indeed met her family in the end but it was too late. The boy who protected her was nowhere to be found. She remembered her knight but earlier she didn\'t know she had lost him too.
She had been lied to and deceived all her life and now she didn\'t know who to trust and who to not.
She didn\'t know why she didn\'t have those fragments of memories before but she just knew her father definitely had a hand in it.
She was still on her knees and crying. Who was she crying for? For her mother? For her sister? Or for all the people who suffered protecting her?
She didn\'t deserve to live.
She saw how Ryuu came and protected her. She saw how she wanted to follow them inside the hospital but a supernatural force was not allowing her to. It was not a supernatural force but rather a mental wall.
She saw how he cried when he finally found her.
Zhenyi looked at herself. She was even more transparent now and anytime she could fade. She thought it was because she would be coming back to her world soon but instead, it was because of her fainting heartbeat.
And suddenly, she fell into a deep abyss. She could feel herself falling deeper and deeper. She didn\'t try to fight it. She just didn\'t want to fight for her survival. She was tired. Too tired now.
She was being selfish and she was absolutely aware of it but she didn\'t know how to face herself after waking up so she just embraced the slumber and prayed never to wake up again.
