Chapter 144
In a white void, somewhere in the vast expanse of space, four people met.
“So you too. Huh? I didn’t think they would send four high-ranking shielders. I thought this guy was just another chosen. Why do we need to be so many?”
The person that spoke was a man with blue hair and wearing a white shirt and black trousers. He was named Gareth. He had a long lance hung across his back and his blue, reptilian eyes stared intensely at the three others in the room with him.
On his right was a woman with purple hair and closed eyes whose name was Tia. She had on a long white gown and carried a big sword in front of her like it was her baby. But the most prominent feature about her was the two horns sprouting on either side of her head. They were sharp and pointed backward and downwards. She was the next person to speak up.
“I don’t think you’re one to question the authority of the Celestial. If they want us to go there then it means it would require all four of us to take care of this. I suggest you just do your job. I need to get back to my guild as quickly as possible”
Gareth scoffed. So what if her guild didn’t have her for a while? It wasn’t like they would just fall off the face of the Temple because one of their fighters went missing. She should stop being so pompous and try a little humility before she loses that head of hers.
The woman, Tia, opened her eyes a little and looked at Gareth with red orbs. For some reason, she could tell that Gareth was looking down on her. Perhaps he wanted a fight? She would gladly give him one to bring him back down to the ground.
“That’s enough, two of you. You’re acting like you just entered the tower yesterday.”
The new person that spoke was a burly man wearing red, armless, leather armor and black slacks. He had a large shield draped on his back and spoke with a deep timbering voice. On his head were two horns as well, but rather than tilting backward, they tilted forward and downwards. This man was Ervan. And the moment he spoke the other two kept quiet because he was obviously the strongest of the four.
The last man with them was a sly man that looked at everybody around him with a disgusted sneer. He didn’t even want to be here. If not for the fact that he was called as well, then he would have never agreed to move around with all these goodie-two-shoes. What a waste of potential status points. They should all just let him kill them so he can take one or two of their skills for himself. He was sure that he would put it to better use!
He was thin and lanky, and he carried a whip attached to the belt at his side. He wore a green outfit and had green hair and black eyes. This man was known only as Worm.
These four were sent on a mission to planet EZ-223223. Or in other words, Earth. Their mission: To ensure the passage of the chosen into the Temple of the Celestials, and in the event that the chosen refused, they were permitted to use any amount of force they required. They could destroy the world, or even take everyone prisoner. They could kill all major figureheads and declare themselves the new leaders of that world to make sure the chosen realized that they meant business.
In other words, they could do whatever they wanted. So long as it ended up with the chosen from this planet going to the Temple. No one would ever hold it against them. This sort of mission was a common thing in the Temple, and various Gold and Silver Shields would receive it and gain rewards for doing a good job. This time, it was the turn of these four.
Although they were all a bit skeptical as to why four of them were sent instead of only two like usual, they wouldn’t question it too much. This planet was recorded as one of the weakest ones in this galaxy. There was no way someone from here would possess any substantial amount of strength anyways.
A portal opened in front of them and the four of them received a crystal stone. The crystal stone would be used to return them to the Temple once their mission was complete, all they had to do was break it. They were each given one so that nobody would try to leave before the others. All four had to be present before anyone could go.
They entered the portal, and began their mission.
…
Back in City C, Han couldn’t believe it had already been a week since his house burnt down. He and the other girls moved into a hotel for a while to allow the insurance company to fix up the house again. Han had to pay a substantial amount of money though. Since he lied that the first fire began due to him leaving the gas on, in his kitchen. Two hundred million wasn’t money to him so he just paid it immediately what they asked for it.
No one really suspected what truly happened there that day as anything more than freak weather and terrible luck. Many houses that were struck with Tyrian lightning also caught on fire, but the insurance companies took care of them since there was no other way to describe what happened, other than calling it a freak accident.
Who would believe that superhuman beings of great power were fighting right in the middle of the street? Bah! Don’t be absurd! Such a thing doesn’t exist in this world! This is the real world, not your otaku fantasies!
Han and the girls moved back to the penthouse after that week, but Rin Woo was always a little bit worried about Han. He was always distracted. From the early morning till even late at night! He would always be looking out the window and staring out into space while thinking about something! She already asked him many times what he was thinking about, but Han didn’t want to tell her at all! He was just making her worry about him!
Han knew that he was being too absurd now, but he was just waiting. In all truth, he was a little bit… skeptical. That man he met said that there would be some people that would be coming to fight him in one week’s time. Han knew that they wouldn’t come in peace since the man specifically said, invade, and Han already brought up a plan in his head about how he could handle them if they did invade.
The thing that made Han worried was the possibility that he was being lied to again. Han was not an idiot. He knew that he couldn’t trust just anything anyone said. That man might have been lying to try and achieve some other goal. Call him paranoid, but Han knew that he could do something like that if it meant he would get something big from it! It was a reasonable fear!
But all of his fears and doubts were laid to rest in the afternoon of the day one week after his last jump. His system came to life and a sudden skill activated.
[Danger Sense] has been activated.
Han rose a brow. Well, would you look at that? He turned away from the papers he was reading in his office and looked outside his window to see the dark city in front of him. Except, there was one problem. It was currently one in the afternoon. It shouldn’t be dark at all!
Han stood up and he opened his window before looking up into the sky.
Oh, Han thought, so that’s what it is.
…
The entire sky above City C looked like the eye of a storm. Lightening streaked across the entire sky and a swirling mass of dark clouds made the citizens of the city look up in fear.
“What is that!? It looks like something evil!”
“It’s the end time! Can’t you people see that we’ve finally been called to the heavens – Urk!”
Slam!!
Someone hit that idiot with a heavy glass bottle and the man fell to the ground!
“Stop saying nonsense, you idiot!”
“It looks like a storm but it’s too fast! What kind of storm starts like this!?”
