Chapter 96
Priest Regulus knelt at the altar inside his church with his hands joined and his head bowed. There was no one in the seats behind him, he still hasn’t received the enlightenment that the Lord said he would be given. He needed to bring them to the Lord’s presence before they had the right to join him in prayer.
And what better way for them to become one with the Lord than for them to show unto him their worth!?
As for what he was doing here, he was waiting for his future to come to him. He already handed out the invitation in the best way possible. A simple message that the chosen would have no choice but to respond to.
It was a pity that the woman he chose was not willing to come to the Lord freely. But she had to die. How else would he be able to draw the chosen to him?
But death over a life of serving the creator. What a waste of a faithful servant.
Regulus heard a plane approaching from the horizon and he detected that it was about a hundred miles away. His heightened senses were able to pinpoint the exact location it was coming from and tell him how long it would be before the plane arrived.
Five minutes. He had a lot of time to finish the rituals he needed to complete for the Lord.
Underhanded tactics. Oh no, priest Regulus would never do such a thing. Not before the Lord his creator. He was doing all of this to show to the Lord that he was worthy. What sort of message would he be sending if he used underhanded tactics to achieve this?
He was going to fight a fair battle. Something that would be sung by the bards and jesters for years to come. Something that his followers would pray about and remember constantly. Something worthy of the ages.
Priest Regulus stood up and walked up to the altar with his hands joined. He checked on the sacrifice he was going to give to the Lord after this and he odded when he saw it was intact. He extinguished the candles there before he began to move around turn off all the candles remaining in the church. He then grabbed a red cloth and moved towards the altar once more. He covered the large tomb where the original book of his Lord was located. It was not right to bring the battle into the church, but he had to do so. But this book would not be harmed so long as he lived.
Regulus then turned slowly and stood reverently while facing the doors of the church.
It was time.
Bang!!!
The doors of the church flew off their hinges and an angry beast walked through.
“Regulus!!!!!!!”
…..
[One hour earlier]
Han drove madly towards the airport. He swerved and moved past cars that were in his way so quickly that he almost caused an accident multiple times. He knew exactly where he needed to go. In fact, he should have known about it long ago!
Where else would that crazy priest be if it wasn’t in his own church!? Han couldn’t believe he wasted so much time just coming to city A at all! He would have to hurry before the priest used another person to pass a message again!
The airport where his plane was parked was located on the opposite side of the city from where the warehouses were, but Han was able to make the long journey in half the time it would take at the normal speed limit! He knew he broke literally every driving rule in the book, but he just didn’t care at that moment!
He just needed to get to the church as quickly as possible!
Han reached the hangar and drove inside before parking his car and coming down. He told the pilot to get the jet started immediately as he got in and strapped himself.
A few minutes later they were in the sky and on their way back to City C. Han was worried that he would not get there quickly enough! If only he had a skill that allowed him to teleport or even fly! He would have already made his way to the church!
Han looked out the window and saw that they were already in the outer regions of City C. Just a few more minutes and they would get there.
Okay. He needed a plan for when he confronted the priest. He wanted things to go smoothly so it would be best to surprise him and make him drop his guard. Han would sneak through the church, he already memorized the layout of the church from when he was in the future, so it wouldn’t be hard for him to find a way into the main citadels from the back. The only other problem would be making sure he wasn’t detected.
He knew that Regulus’ intelligence was very high. It would be almost impossible for Han to sneak into the church without the mad priest knowing about it. He would….
Han paused in his thought as he stared out from his plane window. They were already close to the church now, no more than a hundred miles, but Han could see something in the distance. Something that he didn’t want to believe.
[Eyes of Horos] has been activated.
Han felt his eyes widen as the world sharpened into clarity. There were people everywhere. The entire grounds of the church were filled with people everywhere! They were like a sea of black that Han could see all the way from here.
He grits his teeth in anger! This fake Priest was getting on his nerves!!
Han got up and told the pilot to get as close to the church as he could. The pilot obeyed and guided the plane down till they were only three hundred meters above the church. Han couldn’t see anywhere for them to land the plane here and he didn’t have time for the pilot to start looking for a landing area. He just pulled the door open and jumped off!!
The winds whipped at his hair and face, but he paid it no mind and landed on the ground!
Boommm!!!!
Han stood up and then he began walking towards the church with tight fists. He didn’t care about any damn plan anymore! This was it going to be anything but a straight fight anymore! It was obvious that Regulus’ already had a plan in mind if he finds himself at a disadvantage. Han’s planning was just a waste of time.
As he neared the church a woman came out of the crowd of people and Hans eyes widened in surprise. Martha!?
Yes, it was definitely Martha! She still had those gravity defying boobs! But she was also younger! Much younger than before! Han felt a lot of nostalgia when he looked at her, but this woman was not the one that followed him about like a puppy before. This woman did not even know him!
“The cardinal awaits you, chosen one. It is his will that you have a glorious battle in the form of combat. May his will be done”
Han narrowed his eyes.
“And if I refuse?”
“Then it will be as it is written. The faithful shall lay down their lives to ensure the coming of his word,”
So, in simple terms, he’ll make them kill themselves. Han grits his teeth tightly. This was exactly what he thought that priest would do! In fact, it was even worse than what he thought.
No matter how much he changed, Han still couldn’t just overlook something like this. Not when that priest was basically thumbing his nose at him!!
“Get out of my way,”
Han growled as he began moving towards the church. The faithful all made a wide gap for him to pass, the path leading up to the church was lined with two rows of black wearing chosen!
Once Han got to the church, he threw the door open and bellowed.
“Regulus!”
The priest was standing in front of his alter with his smile still in place. He had his hands joined like he was praying and there was this calmness that layered over him like a second skin. It just made Han want to punch him even more!
Han stopped a few feet away from Regulus and the two of them just stood there killing each other with their eyes.
“What do you think you’re doing Regulus?”
Regulus chuckled.
“Oh my, and here I thought we have never met before. You seem to be quite close to me to be calling me by my first name. Perhaps, did we become friends in that future you saw?”
[BloodLust] has been activated.
“Don’t play with me, fake Priest”
Regulus’ smile widened even more as he brushed off the [Bloodlust]! His faith in his lord surpasses any fear he could feel! But of course, this man would also call him a fake priest, was it not his fate to be looked upon as insane by those who did not know the Lord!? But he would show the world that he was right all along! His path was a just one that leads to the creator himself!
“I think you have something you wanted to say to me. Or maybe did you just come here to trade banter with me?”
“Where are the drugs?”
“Hmmm… I’m sorry, I seem to have misheard you, perhaps you can say that again?”
Woosh!
Han was in front of Regulus in the next second and his fist rose into the air.
“You know what? Fuck it. I’ll beat it out of you…”
