Chapter 529 - Mission
Chapter 529: Mission
\'Where did he go?\' Mr. Cool frowned when Max suddenly disappeared. He was the one closest to them and had clearly seen him being in a dominant position. There was no way that he would be transported like that.
"That guy lost?" One of the guy\'s from Ancient family noticed Max missing and was in disbelief.
Soon, the rest of people noticed it as well and their expression turned ugly one after another. Max had definitely surpassed them and it was pretty obvious but now even he was gone?
"I didn\'t think he was in a losing position?" Faryl said with a frown. He had been keeping an eye out on the battle with the commanding beast and didn\'t think Max would suddenly lose like this.
"Was he poisoned?" Ren asked, he couldn\'t think of any other reason.
Other people felt the same. Max was literally fighting the beast at a close range, the chances of being poisoned was terrifyingly high. And then, it wasn\'t like a normal antidote could stop the poison of a Mythic Tier Beast.
"Without him our chances of coming out of this as the winners has plummeted way too low…" Mr. Cool said as he looked at the rest.
"That thing is still hurt and seems to have lost its mind. We need to get out of here before it pulls itself together." Farly said with a grim look and everyone turned around to see the Commanding Beast screeching madness as it eyes bled heavily. It really seemed to have lost its mind and was destroying its surroundings.
"He is right, only if we can bring all the Academies together would be able to beat that thing.." Mr. Cool nodded.
Without Max, there was no one else who could possibly tank that thing. If that was the case, then they would need numbers and a perfect plan to make up for that.
With that, there was no need to talk anymore. The people dropped of their previous plans to slay the beast and attacked the horde trying to break through them while carving a bloody path littered with corpses of beasts all around.
….
On the other side, Max and the man arrived at the Mage Association.
Max looked at the place in surprise. He knew that it belonged to the Noble Houses but now that he was here…
He shook his head, it would all be clear once he entered the place.
As they entered the place, Max\'s eyes dilated at the sight of two guards in front.
He wasn\'t able to detect their presence at all.
\'They are using people like this to act as guards? Either they really have got tons of manpower to spare or they are just trying to show off.\' He muttered inwardly before finally entering.
When Max finally saw the people, he really didn\'t know how to react. All of them seemed like your ordinary people with feeble presence, but that obviously shouldn\'t be the case. The main problem was that he didn\'t know who these people were which made it difficult for him choose what kind of attitude to adopt while approaching them.
Whether it was a coincidence or just pure luck, Max failed to recognize Lord of Kingsman family. There were two reasons for that. One, it was a curved table in the shape of an \'U\' and Max had walked further in which left the person at a position which wasn\'t in his line of sight. Secondly, when he walked in, the Lord of Kingsman Family had his head lowered the entire time. How could Max think that this arrogant old ma even knew to lower his head? And same could be said for the rest of the Lords.
\'Well, Master said he has got my back. It shouldn\'t be much of a problem..\' Max thought while deciding to wait and see what these people had got to say to him. If they think he was easy to deal with then they were wrong. Even if he had to offend a few of these people for a shot at those spirit shells, it was definitely worth it.
After all, if they couldn\'t get to those Spirit Shells the legal way then they would have to take the back door and that would be way worse than the offending a few people. That was practically provoking the entire Ancient Family.
"So, may I know why I was drawn out of the competition?" He asked looking at the group of grandpa and grandmas. The middle aged people behind them were not paid much attention by him. It was because the way were standing made them look like servants or bodyguards.
How could he know that they were all top level figures who had just gathered here to discuss something and Max was coincidentally caught by them in action?
Max honestly thought that these were just people send out to supervise the competition. He had no idea how big of a mistake he had made in recognizing their identities.
These people\'s faces changed a bit. They were used to being treated with respect. It was true that Max hadn\'t disrespected them but still the way he just directly went on the topic made them feel a bit odd.
Aside from that, Max\'s fashion sense with a blindfold on his face was truly something that was out of their reach.
Still, these people had seen too much to be affected by something like this now.
"You are too strong to be playing around with them.." The old lady at Leviathan\'s seat said looking at Max with a smile on her face.
"Mam, I don\'t think there was anything which said that someone too strong wasn\'t allowed to participate in the competition. I am a student of the one of the Academy and that is the only criteria for participation. You just can\'t take me out for some random reason like that.." Max retorted reasonably but his words made the five Lords sweat in terror.
There had never been anyone who had retorted any of the Five Progenitors in their families. This was the first time they were witnessing something like this happening.
"Aren\'t we praising you for behind strong? Why do you look not happy?" The Old Progenitor of Zatch family asked with a smile. Usually people would die of happiness if someone was praised by them.
"You pulled me out of the competition and took my chances of getting the prizes. And, now you really dare to say that to me?" Max really didn\'t know what to say to this guy.
The Five Lord\'s faces twitched again.
The Lord of Kingsman family looked at the person behind Max who had brought Max here and immediately understood that he had not told Max about the people here. No wonder, he was behaving like that.
"So, its about the prizes? Do you want a chance to enter the Ancestral grounds?\'\' The old lady asked curiously looking at Max because she heard that he already at Zatch Family\'s Artifact with him, "If that\'s the case then we can just give you one slot..how does that sound?"
Max didn\'t think that it would suddenly turn around like that.
"I don\'t think its enough of a compensation," Max wasn\'t a fool he knew what to do. "If I was still in the competition, I could have brought up my comrades as well. If you want to compensate then do so for my entire team."
"Hahaha!!! What a sly kid!" The Old Progenitor of Von Family couldn\'t help but laugh. "You know that every individual is being evaluated on their own performance for the selections here. But now you want to bring you entire squad here on your own. You really are a glutton. At most, your presence could have brought two to three students along. You really want to scam us?"
Max\'s face twitched but he maintained the smile on his face as he continued, "I am the core of my team. My mere presence can affect their performance. I am sure they would not be able to perform well with me out like this."
"Then that is not our fault but there\'s alone. Being too dependent on someone is a negative point for them.." The Old man at Zatch\'s seat said with a smile.
\'These people really know there words around..\' Max thought as the looked at them.
"But we don\'t mind giving you what you want.." The Old lady at Leviathan\'s seat suddenly spoke catching Max\'s attention.
\'They are going to give me what I want?\' Max didn\'t understand this sudden change in their attitude.
"You sure? Can I count on your words? Do they represent the words of the Lords of the Ancient Families as well?" Max asked looking at them.
"Why don\'t you ask them yourself?" The Old lady said with a smile, she had already realized that had wasn\'t informed and he had no idea who he was talking too.
As soon as she said that, the Lord\'s took a step forward and the Lady of Leviathan family took a lead to speak with a humorous smile on her face, "Their words represent ours, you can be at ease.."
Max was suddenly dumbfounded, he suddenly look at these people clearly and finally managed to see the Lord of Kingsman family looking at him with weird smile on his face.
\'Wait! If even the Lord\'s have to stand behind them like servants, then who are these group of old people?\' Max was really shocked and confuse. Why were such important people here? Were they here to prank him?
"Now that you heard them, I am sure you don\'t doubt our words." The Old lady said with a smile, "But, don\'t you think compensating you with enough spots for your entire team wouldn\'t be fair when others are still competing?"
"Then, what do I have to do?" Max asked understanding that such a huge opportunity wasn\'t going to come to him for free.
"What should we let him do?" The Old Progenitor of Von family muttered looking at others.
"I heard that there were this bunch of evil kids around these days creating troubles after mingling with the Demons? What were they called again?" The Old man at Storm Lord\'s seat asked.
"The Dark Society.." Storm Lord lightly replied from behind.
"Yeah right, since things have started to change. Then we should wipe these traitors out." The old man further spoke.
"So, what do you have to say?" The old lady asked as she looked at him.
"Why not make him the Head of the Committee prepared for this task and give him the mission to clear the traitors out. Since he already possess the strength of a Master Tier, I am sure its time for him to step in the adult\'s world. Let\'s allow him to lead a few people and we will see his performance to determine the results.."
"Hmmn… It sure sounds nice. But, since the difficulty is a bit higher, we will have to raise the rewards as well…" The Old man at Von\'s seat chimed in.
"Well, thats not a problem." The old lady said before looking at Max, "What do you think. Child?"
Max looked at them and smiled, he had prepared himself long ago, "I am up for it.."
