Chapter 318 - The Hidden Truth(1)
Chapter 318: The Hidden Truth(1)
The day of the trial had arrived. It was morning time and the capital was covered in a thin layer of fog.
\'So it\'s finally the time, let\'s see….the Mage King did promise to help me out…\' Max thought as he casually sat in the vehicle.
They were being transported a few hours earlier. Max could see that most of the main faces were missing and the ones alongside him were all small fries.
It was obvious that those guys were taken away from the cell and should be reporting directly.
\'Mark isn\'t here….did someone took him as well….\' Max thought as he looked around. As for Wilson and Erina, they were gone as well, but it wasn\'t as surprising in their case.
...
Edwinson House, Capital
"Shatter!"
The cup of coffee slipped out of Lithiya\'s hand and turned into pieces on hitting the floor.
She was currently looking at her phone going through the content of the memory chip which the Second brother had passed onto her.
Tears slid out of her eyes as she looked at the video playing in front of her. She couldn\'t be wrong, it was him, her son.
The joy of finding him was there, no doubt about it. But there were some greater concerns regarding the future….
She would have rushed out by now trying to find him but things began to connect in her mind. She was able to understand that the fight which Janet and Nathan had been concerned with... was against her own son.
This made Lithiya tensed, she knew from the conversation last night in Janet\'s room as to what was going to happen regarding the incident.
Even if she wanted to get Max out now, she wouldn\'t be able to. If she was not wrong, they should have been carried to Association.
There was no way she could get Max out of there with her own power.
She couldn\'t even get in contact with Zack at this urgent moment …..
\'What do I do?\' She couldn\'t come up with anything and tears continued to slide down her face. She didn\'t have anyone to depend upon, \'Father..\'
Lithiya suddenly raised her head and rubbed her face. Father was the only one who knew about Max and he was one who had asked to keep his identity secret. But now, it seemed the second brother knew about Max as well.
Among the two people, there was only father whom Lithiya could approach for help. As for the second brother, she wasn\'t feeling good that he had found out about Max….even though he helped her this time….it still wasn\'t enough to remove the nasty feeling he gave out...
…..
The Lord\'s Chamber, Edwinson House
An old man sat on the main seat with his head resting on the back of the chair and his eyes were closed. He seemed to be in deep thought.
"Knock!\'\'
\'\'Knock!\'
The old man opened his eyes and looked at the door. It wasn\'t that he wasn\'t expecting it, " Come in…"
The door opened and Lithiya walked in.
"Is there anything you need?" The old man asked as he looked at the file on his desk.
"Did you know about what happened with Max, where is he right now?" Lithiya asked as she looked at him.
The old man nodded his head, how could he not know. He had been keeping track of him ever since Max arrived in Capital.
"Why are you not doing anything then? What has he done wrong? Isn\'t he your blood? Why let him suffer, father?" Lithiya finally couldn\'t hold herself back. She had been meaning to ask this question for a while but she had never got any chance. It was always Zack who talked to father, he wouldn\'t let her talk to him.
"Didn\'t Zack tell you anything about it?" The old man suddenly asked as he turned her head to her. He knew that it wasn\'t her fault, neither was this anyone else\'s.
"N-No...what are you talking about?" Lithiya was taken back by the sudden reply. Was something being hidden from her?
"It is something you should know as well. It was a promise that was made on your behalf as well….."
"Promise?" Lithiya looked confused, she really didn\'t know what was going on here.
"Yes, you should remember that I was against your marriage…" the old man suddenly brought up the past.
Lithiya obviously couldn\'t forget something so important. She still remembered how much of a struggle it was…
"At that time, I gave Zack clear options that he had to choose one. His family or you. I might have been cruel but I knew what the future could bring to both of you if you were to end up together."
"But, he was my son after all. He didn\'t give in. He knew that if he left the family, he just couldn\'t stop blaming himself and the same would be for you….the guilt of separating him from his parents...on the other hand, he just couldn\'t let go of you."
"In the end, your mother in law just couldn\'t watch you two suffer. But it still didn\'t mean that I could just avoid everything in front of my eyes, so I gave Zack one more option…you know about it as well in one way or the other..." the old man said as he looked at Lithiya, "In exchange of letting you two get married and be in the family, I asked that you two would have to raise your children in secret everyone away from everyone until they awakened…."
Lithiya felt that lighting had struck her. She didn\'t realise it until now. She had easily believed Zack that it was all for the safety of their children.
"W-Why? Why?" Lithiya\'s eyes started to get filled with water.
"Because I was afraid of the future that you two might have to face, and my fear indeed came true….."
"He didn\'t awaken….."
Lithiya couldn\'t utter any word. Her eyes widened. She just couldn\'t believe what was really happening.
"That\'s the reason I was against you two getting married…"
"But how... is this possible….." Lithiya couldn\'t really understand it. How was it possible to predict something like this? Why would her child have the chances of not awakening?"
"It\'s because of the Ancient Genes….."
