Chapter 506: Ambush

“Banxia, I might have a loved one,” I said softly as I flipped through the book.
Banxia didn’t stop. “Of course. Sir loves you so much. He is your loved one! But I guess it should be the other way round. You are his loved one.”
Banxia chuckled.
“I’m not talking about uncle,” I muttered to myself.
I felt that there was someone in my heart. I loved him deeply, and he loved me as well.
Banxia continued, “Mrs. Ma Ji said that it’s time for Miss to find a boyfriend. After we move, we’ll definitely be able to meet many outstanding, handsome men. When the time comes, Miss will choose the one she likes the most to get married and have children. Banxia will take care of the children for you. Miss is so good-looking, so you must have a few more children.”
I glared at her helplessly. “Do you think I’m a pig?”
Banxia stuck out her tongue. “In any case, Miss will be happier once we change the environment.”
My happiness was very important to Banxia.
However, my heart was heavy.
I didn’t know where I came from or where I was going. Everything was planned by my uncle and Ma Ji. Their loving smiles made me suspicious. I really didn’t like it.
I felt that there was something wrong with me. Was I born with cold blood? Why was I so heartless towards my own family?
I couldn’t sleep that night. I pulled Banxia to accompany me for a walk.
The sea breeze was strong. The air was filled with a humid fishy smell. The sky was filled with stars. It was as beautiful as a painting.
“Will we be able to see such beautiful scenery in the future?” I said as I looked at the starry sky.
“But, there are many other beautiful sceneries!” Banxia was very optimistic.
Banxia was a cute girl.
I had to admit that she was right.
“Miss, this island belongs to our family. We can come back anytime. Don’t be so sad, okay? We’re just going out for an adventure. If you don’t like it, we can come back anytime.” Banxia took my hand and shook it.
My heart softened, and I nodded. “Alright, let’s go out into the world then.”
However, I had a feeling we would never come back here again.
Suddenly, I heard something cut through the air.
I pulled Banxia over and pressed her head down.
An arrow brushed past Banxia’s cheek.
The blood in my body was boiling. The blood bubbled in my ears.
“Wha –” The moment Banxia opened her mouth, I covered her mouth.
“Don’t make a sound!” I whispered in her ear.
I heard strange noises from the shore. People were landing. Many of them. They were definitely not my uncle’s people.
My heart was beating wildly. I instinctively felt danger.
I pulled Banxia to hide behind a rock. The light was particularly dark. The faint light on the sea reflected the fear in our eyes.
I motioned for Banxia not to speak. Then, I let go of my hand over her mouth.
We snuggled together. We could feel each other’s wildly beating hearts.
I slightly leaned out. On the beach, a group of men in black was quickly and silently moving into the heart of the island.
I couldn’t help but feel anxious. How could I inform the people on the island?
I also felt that something was wrong. Usually, the seaside was on guard. Where were the guards? Why was there no one?
When those people had walked a little further, I whispered in Banxia’s ear, “Stay here and don’t move!”
