Chapter 1209 - Concealing Needles in Cotton, Killing with Kindness
Chapter 1209: Concealing Needles in Cotton, Killing with Kindness
“Ok. Coincidentally, I’m free.”
Half an hour later, Lin Wanwan and Ai Ying arrived at the small building where Fu Wanyi lived.
Outside the gate, Lin Wanwan bumped into a familiar face.
“Fu Zhinian!”
Lin Wanwan ran toward him in surprise. “What are you doing here? How have you been recently? Can you adapt to the new school environment? You haven’t been to the Yun Mansion to look for me in a long time.”
Her firing questions like a cannon made a trace of shyness flash past Fu Zhinian’s eyes. His face, which was initially filled with coldness, softened by a lot.
“I’m about to graduate. I have been busy writing my graduation thesis recently and didn’t have time to find you. I came over here today because Fu... my mother asked me to.”
At the mention of the last sentence, his eyes turned cold.
Lin Wanwan knew that he didn’t share a harmonious mother-and-son relationship with Fu Wanyi. “Aren’t you graduating next year?”
“I skipped a grade.”
“Oh, wow, you’re really formidable, then!”
Under Lin Wanwan’s deliberate introduction of comic remarks in the conversation, Fu Zhinian couldn’t help but smile. Ai Ying looked at him in a daze and felt relieved after a long while. “Zhinian, we haven’t met in such a long time. You’re in a much better situation now. I’m very happy.”
Fu Zhinian greeted her. “Hello, Auntie Ai.”
The three of them chatted for a while, then walked in.
In the living room, Fu Wanyi was watching TV.
Hearing the sound of footsteps, she picked up the remote control and was about to turn it off. Lin Wanwan, who ran in, saw the images of “Fiery Rose” on the screen and immediately sat down happily.
“Auntie, my acting skills are not bad, right?”
Fu Wanyi looked at her. “It’s nondescript. You call that not bad?”
Lin Wanwan was already accustomed to her brand of sarcasm wherein she concealed needles in cotton. She was about to kill it with kindness when Fu Zhinian said plainly, “I think it’s great.”
Fu Wanyi looked at him and her eyes flashed. “You’re back.”
“You wanted to see me. I dare not not come.” Fu Zhinian’s attitude was cold and indifferent.
“Dare not...”
Fu Wanyi repeated those two words, then sized up Fu Zhinian’s increasingly mature face. She even found traces of Lu Zhanbei on him.
She suddenly smiled lightly. “That’s good as well. You’re carrying the Fu family name. You can’t be a good-for-nothing like before.”
Fu Zhinian clenched his fists. “You have brought me up well.”
Lin Wanwan could sense the tension in the atmosphere and smiled while shifting the topic. “Godmother, I haven’t eaten your dishes in ages. Coincidentally, I’m hungry. Why don’t you reveal your skills?”
“You little rascal. You only know how to order me around.” Ai Ying glanced at her, then walked to the kitchen.
Lin Wanwan smiled and curved her lips at Fu Zhinian. “You’re in for a treat today. Godmother’s dishes are delicious.”
“I know.”
“That’s true. You must have eaten her dishes often in the past.”
Fu Zhinian looked at her happy, smiling face. The frost in his eyes disappeared, and his lips couldn’t help but curve up.
For a period of time, the two in the living room chatted as if no one else was present.
Fu Wanyi looked at the smile on her younger son’s face and rubbed her thin lips lightly.
Indeed, Lin Wanwan was capable.
When Fu Zhinian’s autism turned into schizophrenia that year, she had hired the world’s most renowned psychiatrist, but he was unable to cure him. Lu Zhanbei had also tried everything possible.
However, Lin Wanwan could merge both his personalities into one and lead him to find a goal in his life.
It was a quiet meal.
After the meal, Lin Wanwan sat in the living room. The replay of “Fiery Rose” had ended. The replay of “Let’s Live Together” had started again.
On-screen, Lin Wanwan and Lu Zhanbei were feeding each other fruits.
