Chapter 1858 - The Person I Have Been Searching For
Chapter 1858: The Person I Have Been Searching For
Pei Ge paused and looked behind Old master Qu. Qu Jingwan, who was standing outside the crowd and looking at Pei Ge with hatred in her eyes, could not wait to tear her apart.
“Your granddaughter is Miss Qu.”
Pei Ge retracted her gaze and looked at Old master Qu with sparkling eyes. She exuded an unstoppable aura. Although her face was a little pale, she still had the demeanor of a strong woman. Her every frown and smile could make Old master Qu afraid to say anything.
“Ge Ge, Qu Jingwan is actually...”
“I don’t care about Miss Qu Jingwan’s identity or background. I only care if I can leave now. I’ll leave this necklace here for you. If you lose it, I won’t be able to afford it.”
She raised her hand and placed the necklace on the male waiter’s tray.
The red wine glass, which was glittering like jewels, suddenly gave off an obvious contrast.
With that, she turned around. Just as she was looking in the direction of the door, she spotted a skinny woman in a loose white coat. Her movements were suspicious.
Pei Ge’s heart skipped a beat. She still did not expect it to be her and the person she had been searching for.
“Ge Ge, let’s go home.”
Ji Ziming walked forward and hugged Pei Ge’s arm with one hand while taking her handbag with the other.
“Ziming, let’s go back later.”
She boldly voiced out her guess, and suspicion flashed across his cold eyes.
“Could it be her? But why is she here?”
Ji Ziming could not believe that this woman would appear at the entrance of Qu family’s villa at this time. There were so many reporters at the entrance. How did they manage to barge in and not be identified by so many people?
“I’m not sure. Wait for me here. I want to go and take a look.”
Pei Ge placed her handbag in Ji Ziming’s hand and held it tightly. Her eyes flashed with heartache. How did she manage to survive in the capital for such a long time? How did she manage to escape the search of so many people arranged by Pei Ge and Ji Ziming?
“Don’t worry. If you want to check it out, go ahead. I’ll wait here for you.”
Ji Ziming thought about it and decided to let Pei Ge handle this matter herself.
There was always a reason for them to leave. The reason why they met was perhaps because of fate, or perhaps because they really did not expect to meet again.
“Alright, just wait for me here.”
Pei Ge nodded and looked into Ji Ziming’s eyes seriously. “Ziming, no matter what reason she has, I believe that we are still best friends and the same as before. Our relationship won’t turn cold just because I didn’t care about her after returning to the country.”
“I know, go ahead. I’ll wait for you here.”
Ji Ziming nodded. His cold eyes looked at the blocked entrance and said to the bodyguards beside him, “You guys follow Madam. If anyone wants to take photos or interview Madam, quickly stop them.”
“Yes, sir!”
The bodyguards nodded. What they cared about was whether the mission Ji Ziming had given them could be completed successfully. What they cared about was whether their bonus could be transferred to their card.
“Go on.”
Ji Ziming lowered his head and said to Pei Ge with gentleness in his eyes.
“Okay.”
Pei Ge nodded and walked toward the door. The bodyguards behind her quickly stepped forward and pulled away many reporters to ensure that she could walk out alone.
Pei Ge followed the woman in the white coat all the way to the Qu family’s back door.
It was Old master Qu’s birthday banquet today and there were many guests. However, most of the guests and waiters were in the front yard and in the living room. The back door was left open just to make things convenient for the guests and friends who were unwilling to be involved in other business.
“Xiaoyu, is that you?”
The more she walked, the more anxious she became. When she entered the back door of the Qu family’s villa, she saw the woman in the white coat stopping under the most unique old Chinese parasol tree in the Qu family.
“Xiaoyu, is it you? Why didn’t you tell me that you came back?”
Looking at this familiar figure, Pei Ge became more and more nervous. She was afraid that this was not the person she wanted to see.
“It’s me.”
The woman in the white coat turned around and removed her white hoodie. Tang Xiaoyu, who was emaciated, stood before Pei Ge. Under the moonlight, her face was extremely pale.
“Xiaoyu, it’s really you. You’re really back.”
Pei Ge’s eyes were smiling as she watched Tang Xiaoyu appear in front of her. Her heart was filled with excitement. After searching for so long, she did not expect her to be in the capital, breathing in the same city as her.
“Ge Ge, it’s me. I’m back.”
Compared to Pei Ge, Tang Xiaoyu’s attitude was apathetic. Her lips curled up slightly as she looked at Pei Ge coldly.
“Xiaoyu, why are you back? Where have you been for so many days? Do you know that I’ve been searching for you until I’m going crazy? I’ve been searching for you for so long, but I didn’t even know that you were in the country.”
Pei Ge excitedly walked forward and wanted to hold Tang Xiaoyu’s hand tightly, but Tang Xiaoyu released her.
The sudden coldness and distance made Pei Ge stand rooted to the ground in shock. Her hand that was pulled out awkwardly stopped in mid-air. Looking at Tang Xiaoyu’s pale face, a bold guess flashed across her mind.
“Xiaoyu, are you sick? Why are you so tired? What’s wrong with you? Quickly tell me, otherwise, how would I know?”
Pei Ge got out of her awkwardness and quickly touched Tang Xiaoyu’s forehead. However, Tang Xiaoyu dodged her.
Seeing how cold Tang Xiaoyu was, Pei Ge did not understand what had happened in such a long time.
Before coming out to chase after Tang Xiaoyu, Pei Ge had told Ji Ziming that she and Tang Xiaoyu did not have any feelings for each other, but from the looks of it, it was not as simple as she thought.
“Xiaoyu, what’s wrong with you? If there’s anything, tell me. Did Gu Zhengrong bully you? Tell me and I’ll go take revenge for you. If he dares to touch a hair on you, I won’t let him off easily.”
Pei Ge looked at Tang Xiaoyu with heartache but did not see any emotions on her.
