Chapter 1776 - You Have Yet to Age
Chapter 1776: You Have Yet to Age
“Oh?”
Qu Xiujie looked up at Pei Ge and his voice became even colder. He exuded coldness and even Pei Ge did not expect him to have such a cold side.
This time, it was all because of Mao Nana.
“Ge Ge, let Mao Nana leave. Don’t let her stay in the house.”
Qu Xiujie’s voice was clear and the uneasiness in his heart grew. Before long, he might be able to see that something would really happen to Mao Nana.
If it really came to that, there was no turning back.
“Uncle, did you push her away just to protect her?”
Pei Ge walked forward and asked Qu Xiujie seriously.
“Yes, that’s the only way she can lead a good life. That’s also the only way I can settle everything with you and Ziming without any qualms. Don’t you wish for that to happen, or do you already have a second plan in your heart?”
Qu Xiujie’s eyes were bright and cold as he looked at Pei Ge.
“Uncle, there are many ways to protect someone, but you chose the stupidest one.”
Pei Ge felt that it was a pity as her eyes lit up when she saw Qu Xiujie. She looked behind him and saw Ji Ziming who was heading upstairs.
She was clearly calm at the moment, yet her heart was beating fast as though it had been attracted by the person in front of her. However, as she watched him walk closer and closer to her, her heart felt as though it was beating rapidly.
“Ziming...”
Her voice was gentle and her beautiful eyes were even gentler.
“Mhm.”
Ji Ziming’s voice was low and when he saw Pei Ge and Qu Xiujie standing in the corridor on the second floor looking serious, he could not help but ask, “What are you talking to Uncle about? Why is your expression like this?”
“I’m telling Uncle not to chase Mao Nana away. She has no one to rely on in the capital. If you want to do that, where will she stay and who will she be with?”
Pei Ge could not help but feel a little worried but when she saw that Qu Xiujie was not worried at all, her voice became anxious. “Why? Am I right?”
“Yes, you can also say that it’s wrong.”
Ji Ziming pursed his thin lips and narrowed his eyes at Pei Ge. His voice was low and clear. “Let’s talk in the room.”
The two followed Ji Ziming into the room. The moment they opened the door and sat on the sofa, Ji Ziming’s voice turned cold. The room was clearly designed to face the south, yet it felt as though they had entered an icehouse.
“Ge Ge, you have to know that Mao Nana is not a child. She is an adult now, so an adult should be responsible for her actions. No one forced her to leave R City and come here to live with Uncle, and no one forced her to leave the capital and the house.”
Ji Ziming leaned on the sofa, his voice cold and normal.
Mao Nana’s departure seemed to be an extremely ordinary matter.
Qu Xiujie merely sat at the side and did not say anything nor did he voice out all his doubts. In his heart, Mao Nana’s whereabouts were no longer important. The most important thing now was to get evidence of Old lady Qu’s crime.
He did not have the time or the ability to choose his future. He could only make a decision now. As long as he let Mao Nana leave the house, he could minimize the damage to her and forgive himself for being cruel to her.
“But I feel that Mao Nana doesn’t need to leave the house at all. Isn’t it good for her to stay in the house now? My mom likes her a lot, and I can tell that Uncle likes her a lot too. I can even tell that Uncle Charlie likes Mao Nana more.”
Pei Ge was looking at Qu Xiujie when she said this but she could not see any emotions on his face.
“So, what are your thoughts?”
Ji Ziming lightly harrumphed. He knew that the woman beside him was famous for being kind-hearted. She knew the ins and outs of performing well in her job yet she treated the people around her so gently. More importantly, they had yet to find out about Mao Nana’s background.
However, it was too simple to only rely on her words.
“Ge Ge, do you know Mao Nana? You’ve only interacted with her in America for a while, but you two haven’t seen each other in so many years. Do you know what she has been through all these years?”
Ji Ziming softly said something that Pei Ge had never considered and also said that this question had never existed in her heart.
“I...”
Pei Ge fell into a state of confusion. It was not that she had not thought of this before, but when she thought of the Mao Nana that she knew, how could she choose to help others deal with Pei Ge?
“You didn’t think of it, and I’m afraid Uncle didn’t think of it as well. If we didn’t think of it, how could the other two at home think of it?”
The corners of Ji Ziming’s lips curled up. Although he did not know all of Mao Nana’s actions, based on the evidence in his hands, it was not hard to see that Mao Nana had all the Ji family’s information and Pei Ge’s company’s internal information. There was nothing else that could scare them.
“Ziming, do you already have an answer?”
Although she was surprised at her carelessness, she heaved a sigh of relief when she saw the confidence on his face.
“I don’t. She’s someone you know. Why don’t you investigate on your own? We’re in a critical period right now. We can’t let a stranger’s appearance delay all our plans. Uncle knows this very well, but you don’t. You’re so silly and always think that everyone around you is a good person.”
Ji Ziming reached out and gently poked Pei Ge’s head. His actions were gentle and his handsome features were filled with love.
“Alright, alright. The two of you are really showing off your lovey-dovey side here. I’m a lonely old man, yet I still have to watch you guys do it. Don’t you feel a little bad?”
Qu Xiujie pursed his lips as he watched Ji Ziming reach out to caress Pei Ge’s face. His actions were gentle and tender yet very affectionate.
“Uncle, you’re still young. There are many girls who like you.”
