Chapter 1740 - I will Definitely Do What I Say
Chapter 1740: I will Definitely Do What I Say
The group of them entered the Ji family’s mansion. Mother Ji was practicing her dance in the dance studio on the second floor. Ever since she returned from America, she would spend two hours in the dance studio every day. Her figure had become better and even the bickering between her and Qu Xiujie had slowly subsided.
In Mother Ji’s world, as long as Qu Xiujie did not cross her bottom line, nothing would happen.
However, if Qu Xiujie offended her, it would be different and it would not be a matter of bottom line.
In the huge mirror, Mother Ji’s figure was curvaceous and exquisite. She wore a black one-piece outfit and stood in the middle of the room like a noble swan princess, overlooking everything.
“Madam Zhang, you’re here.”
Auntie Zhang’s face was kind as she looked at Zhang Manhua with a smile in her eyes. When she looked at Zhang Manhua, her voice became gentler as she held the blue porcelain cup and walked to her.
“Yes, I’m here to visit my in-law.”
Zhang Manhua replied with a smile.
“Madam is dancing in the dance studio. It should end soon.”
Auntie Zhang placed the porcelain cup in front of her mother and continued, “Madam Zhang, do you need me to call Madam now?”
“No need, no need. I’ll just wait here.”
Zhang Manhua said as she pulled Qu Xiujie into the living room and sat down on the sofa. Qu Xiujie looked unwilling but his voice was heard by Zhang Manhua.
“This old woman, we have guests here and she’s even dancing.”
“Xiujie, when Madam Ji comes later, don’t forget what you promised me last night. If you can’t do it, I’ll —”
“Okay, okay, okay. I’ll remember it. I’ll take note of it myself. I’ll definitely do what I said, but can you...”
“No!”
Zhang Manhua calmly rejected his suggestion.
“Sister, you’re helping the outsiders but not your family members.”
Qu Xiujie was not the least bit satisfied with Zhang Manhua’s behavior. The two of them were biological siblings but now, she wanted to bring him to apologize to another old woman. He, Qu Xiujie, had lived for so long and had never done anything to apologize to anyone. Now, he was going to lose to his own sister.
“I don’t care. You promised me that you’ll apologize to Madam Ji. Isn’t that what you said, or is it just empty talk?”
Zhang Manhua smiled as she sat on the sofa and looked at Qu Xiujie who was sitting opposite her. “If you don’t do that, I’ll leave now.”
“Mom, where are you going with uncle?”
Pei Ge, who was walking down the stairs, asked softly. Her face was filled with joy and when she saw the light in Zhang Manhua’s eyes, her voice rose a few notches. “Mom, where did you tell uncle that you were going?”
“I’m not going anywhere. I’m just telling your uncle to stay put here. After all, he promised me that he would do it, so he can’t give up halfway.”
Zhang Manhua’s eyes were filled with smugness as she watched Pei Ge walk down the stairs. “If you’re home, where is Ziming?”
“Ziming went to the office. Mom, wait a minute. My mother-in-law has already finished her dance and is going to take a shower. She’ll be back soon.”
Mother Ji did not wait for more than twenty minutes before she came down in a pink bathrobe. The two ladies warmed up together and just as they were happily chatting, Qu Xiujie tried to sneak away from Zhang Manhua but was caught by her.
“Xiujie, where are you going?”
There was a hint of caution in Zhang Manhua’s voice as she looked askance at Qu Xiujie who was about to walk to the door.
“Where can I go? Sis, I saw that you guys were thirsty, so I brought you guys some water.”
Just as they were speaking, Qu Xiujie poured two cups of water from the coffee table and held one in his hand. He walked to them and said, “Here, Sister, Madam Ji, this is the tea I brought over for you guys. Drink it slowly and be careful of the heat.”
Qu Xiujie put down the cup and stood at the side, waiting for Zhang Manhua to say something to him. However, after a while, he did not hear anything.
Only then did he look up at his sister and Mother Ji, who were staring at him. “Why are you looking at me? Is there something dirty on my face?”
“My in-law told me that you came to our family today because you have something to tell me. Now, tell me; I’ll sit and listen. If you feel uncomfortable standing there, you can sit down and sit opposite me.”
“I said you found an old —”
Just as Qu Xiujie was about to say that word, he saw Zhang Manhua’s threatening and hurt gaze and quickly shut his mouth. The sincerity in her eyes made Mother Ji very pleased.
“Say it; say it. In front of your sister, I want to see if you can still be so unbridled.”
Seeing that Qu Xiujie would definitely not say anything similar, Mother Ji followed behind Zhang Manhua and flaunted her prowess. She looked at Qu Xiujie with surprise and confidence.
“You...”
Qu Xiujie was speechless.
Qu Xiujie finally apologized to Mother Ji after Zhang Manhua’s prompting. Mother Ji purposely made things difficult for him. “I didn’t hear what you said clearly.”
“You!”
Qu Xiujie’s eyes widened but when he saw Zhang Manhua’s gaze, he retracted his anger. It was not easy for him to find his sister and no matter what, he would not let her lose hope in him again because she was the most important person to him.
“What’s wrong? Since you’re here to apologize to me, is this your attitude to talk to me? Qu Xiujie, you’ve been causing trouble in my house and I’ve never said anything about you. You’re only apologizing to me now and I must treat you well and accept it with a smile?”
There was no smile on Mother Ji’s face as she looked at Qu Xiujie impatiently.
“I’m sorry.”
Qu Xiujie’s anger seemed to have been alleviated. Although he sounded like a ruffian, he was much more serious than before.
Mother Ji, on the other hand, was shocked and did not know what to say.
“I’m just saying. You’re so serious that it scares me.”
“Madam Ji, are you still willing to accept it? I apologize for the accident I caused you in the Ji family.”
