Chapter 1689: Good. I like this smell.
“Ge Ge...”
Ji Ziming’s voice was wavering a little. Seeing how calm she was, he could not help but be shocked and in disbelief.
“What’s wrong?”
Pei Ge, who was holding the documents, regarded the two with their mouths agape. “Should I be crying and making a fuss when I see you guys acting intimate?”
“But your reaction is also not...” began Qu Jingwan gloomily but trailed off. In the end, she just picked up her handbag and moved to leave this room. Right at the door, she turned to look at her and gave a meaningful smile.
“I am still envious that you have this guy by your side, but I want to warn you that it is precisely this special treatment that you will soon not be any better off than me!”
Pei Ge looked back at the other, then shook her head casually.
“We are different.”
It was only after the lady left that Ji Ziming hurriedly pulled her hand. He gently lifted her chin with a finger. “Woman, were you jealous earlier?”
“Jealous? Why would I be jealous?”
She easily escaped his clutches and sat down on the sofa with the documents in hand. She cocked an eyebrow at him and spoke seductively. “I am merely just a bit curious. Young Master Ji, moments ago, you—”
“Wu...”
Before she could finish speaking, the man rushed toward her and pulled her lips to his, ravaging the insides of her mouth.
Only after a long time did he release her. Pei Ge lay on the sofa. Her lipstick was smudged, making the corner of her lips pinkish and accentuating the shyness on her face.
“You still refuse to admit that you got jealous?”
He looked at her from above with a smug smile. His deep eyes were filled with love and doting. He would not have had to use this method if she had just admitted it.
Alas, she just had to refuse admitting it.
“I didn’t get jealous. You’re so narcissistic.”
“I’m narcissistic? Do I need to be? There are so many women who want to marry me in this capital, and you are saying that I’m narcissistic?”
He was very happy with her current appearance. She was like a rose bathed under the moonlight—exuding a surprisingly refreshing smell, which was also pridefully blooming. As long as she was by his side, not to mention one Qu Jingwan, even if there were ten of the latter, he might not take a second glance at them.
It was because she was Pei Ge who was irreplaceable to him.
“You are narcissistic.”
The woman laughed aloud. This was not her first time seeing him act like this, so why would she need to argue with him over it in his territory? She knew inside that the trouble of doing so would eventually be hers to deal with.
“Ge Ge, you must let me know if you are jealous next time so that I know, or else what should I do if the air suddenly smells of vinegar?”
He bent down and looked into her eyes with his dark orbs, which were filled with love, and said in his low and gentle voice.
“I wasn’t jealous.”
She refused to admit it. Even if he wanted her to do so, she would definitely not fulfill his wish.
Just with that scene earlier, any woman would likely be jealous, not to mention her. Even if that person was not her, others would still mistake the pair’s relationship.
“I already said that the air has a sour smell.”
Ji Ziming understood her little tantrums. The sight of her slightly upturned lips made his heart ache.
“What sour smell? Why don’t I smell it?”
“There is. Do you really not smell it?”
As she was evading his eyes, he turned her head to face him. In a cold yet gentle voice, he said, “We don’t even need vinegar the next time we eat dumplings at home.”
Pei Ge suddenly laughed out loud. Looking at him, her face turned slightly pink.
“Actually, I did feel a bit jealous, but it’s only for an instant, because after thinking it through, I realized that if there’s really something between you and Qu Jingwan, would I still need to be here? That’s why I stopped feeling jealous. As long as we are good together, no one can come between us.”
Ji Ziming was stunned by her words.
He had never thought that he would hear these words coming from her mouth. She actually trusted him this much. He had almost sent this woman into the arms of another man a few years ago. Fortunately, she was still here and had successfully become his best ‘partner’ and someone whom he could not live without.
“Were my words wrong?”
She regarded the man, who was looking at her with deep love.
“No. Did you want to show me the acquisition documents for Red Star? Pass it to me.”
He immediately focused back on their work at hand. His cold eyes held the sight of her small stature, which was swaying. He sat on the sofa and took away the documents in her hands. “Ge Ge, don’t take up these cases yourself next time. The people below will handle them well. You should rest properly.”
“But I can’t do that. There’s still no news about Xiaoyu, while Qitong is about to get married, yet the company is in such a mess. I can’t stop. I know that you will always be supporting me from behind, but you need to have confidence in me, too. I can definitely settle all these. Rest assured; I am not a soft and easy target.”
She spoke firmly and surely.
Ji Ziming looked up. The sunlight from behind her was shining on her hair as it billowed in the breeze. The refreshing smell it brought enthralled him, making him unwilling to come out of his reverie.
If he did not have her in his life, he would definitely not last this far.
“Ge Ge, your perfume today smells very nice.”
He narrowed his almond-shaped eyes. With admiration and smugness in them, he continued, “Is this the one I gifted you?”
“It is. You said that you like it, so I’m using it all the time.”
Pei Ge nodded, her cheeks going red.
One vanity table was no longer enough to display all her perfumes, especially since most of them were either gifted by him or the season’s newest arrivals. However, this was the only kind she used regularly.
“Good. I like this smell.” He slowly moved closer to her and whispered in her ear. “But I like you more.”
Pei Ge’s fair ears instantly turned red. She felt as though she had fallen amid pink bubbles. This was not Ji Ziming’s first time confessing to her, but it was her most embarrassing time. She had only just admitted to her small scheming.
