Chapter 61 Freeing The Prisoners
After causing an explosion in the duke's mansion, Zack decided to go ahead and move towards the dungeon of the mansion where the prisoners were most likely being held.
He had to gather some information about this incident since the king was definitely not going to be pleased that Zack had angered a duke of the kingdom.
No matter who he was allied with disrespecting the nobility or royalty was not a small crime.
But Zack knew that he would be most likely excused for it.
'Though that was a weird switch in personality. I wonder what's up with that prince.' Zack thought as he climbed down the stairs of the mansion and went underground.
Like any dungeon he had seen to date, the dungeon had many cells and people were being detained in them and Zack could tell that they weren't being treated very well.
"They look like zombies from a third-rate apocalypse movie…" He moved through the cells before he finally found the people he was looking for.
Most of them had been put in different cells but they looked much better than the other prisoners.
But another surprising thing about them were the formations embedded in their handcuffs.
'Looks like the duke doesn't trust his prisoners one bit.' Zack thought with a sad smile as he could see that the shackles slaved the people to the duke.
"Listen, I can free all of you from this place if you tell me who sent you here." Zack suddenly spoke up as all the people in the cell lifted their heads up and stared at him.
They wanted to scoff at his actions but they had seen what he could do with those daggers. If they wanted to escape, this boy was their only hope.
"I was sent by a banished noble family to buy those jewels." One of them spoke and seeking him, all of them started to speak one by one.
After listening to them for a few minutes, Zack found out that they had come from rich families who weren't allowed to enter the city because they were banned from it.
'Now I have to find out who was supplying diamonds to that shop owner.' Zack thought with a sigh as he then looked at the faces of the prisoners before sighing once again.
They were looking at him with eager expressions as though they were expecting him to free them. Their expectations were far from the truth.
"Since you were only buying jewels for your families, I'll free you but on one condition." Zack then asked them to have an oath of existence with him and according to the conditions, they could never tell anyone else about anything that they had seen in the past three days.
Zack could have specified it in more specific wordings but this was the best one. There was no loophole out of this and the prisoners had to agree with his request if they wanted to leave.
They all agreed and Zack had a mass oath of existence with all of them before he burned the cell with his blue flames.
"This might get hot." He then suddenly raised his fingers and shot blue flames at all of the shackles.
p
""We will not forget this."" They said at once and rushed up the stairs.
Since most of the guards were at the explosion's site, they easily managed to escape and get away.
Zack followed them too and got out of the duke's mansion which was situated in the center of the city.
The moment he had captured the prisoners, Zack was thinking of freeing them since if the families who sent them realized that their people had vanished, there would have been some problems.
Zack also knew that the duke had most likely blown the market away which meant that the jewel shop had been blown away too.
'The person selling those jewels however didn't feel any special. Maybe he was working for someone and that person was responsible for selling those jewels illegally.' The best bet Zack could make was that a few nobility houses were the ones doing this.
Since they were selling the jewels at double the price, they were getting all that money but the question was, why?
Why go through all that hustle for money when you could have asked the duke for more.
The answer to this was simple, they were either gathering money for something illegal or they were collecting it for someone else.
'So I have to infiltrate noble houses and make sure to not get caught. Guess it's about time that I brought Emma here.' Zack thought with a sigh before he went into a hotel situated a little further away from the entrance of the city.
He book a room in the place and logged out of Hikari.
After waking up in the real world, Zack stretched his body on the bed before looking at the time.
3 am and the day was Sunday whereas he had started playing Hikari on Friday night.
"Fck…" He immediately took out a food and water pill and replenished himself. Zack knew that he couldn't play the game till night because he had promised to spend the entire day with Mia.
'I needed a break from it anyways.' He thought with a sigh and walked out of his room.
His sister would definitely be sleeping but he wondered whether Emma was getting any sleep in her new room.
Emma had also chosen a room on the third floor because the view was better than the rest of the place.
Her room was situated in a different hallway on the third floor which had two hallways.
It took him two minutes to reach her room when he heard some noise coming from inside.
"Let me show you what I can do to that stupid cat!" Emma's voice was so loud that it was audible despite the door being in between her and Zack. "Oh yeah? I am gonna rip that tail of yours!"
'She has weird dreams…' Zack thought with a sigh as he walked back to his room and left Emma alone.
But if he had opened the door and peeked inside, he would have seen something that would have completely shattered his reality.
