Chapter 483 - Truth and Conspiracy IV
“I am busy recently. Let’s talk later.”
While speaking, Huo Yunting saw his bodyguard bringing back Lu Zhaoyang from the outside and was in a good mood.
Hearing that, the old lady turned on him. “What? Do I even have to make an appointment to see my grandson?”
Sitting with his legs crossed, Huo Yunting patiently coaxed the old lady. “How could I mean that? It is just that since I am out of the Huo family, it would not be appropriate for me to go back there too often. I guess you understand that there are some people whom I would rather not see there. But if you are willing to come to the city, I will immediately send a chartered plane to pick up.”
The old lady was silent for a long while; if she could not get her grandson to come back, the plan would fail.
She sighed after some thought. “I am too old to travel. Since you are not coming home, forget it then!”
The telephone conversation ended. Lu Zhaoyang, who was at the door, immediately walked over. “If your grandma is coming, please let me go home lest she will find out—”
“Do you think she will stay here when she comes to the city? You stay at home. Don’t think of going anywhere.”
Huo Yunting rubbed his hair, got to his feet, and went upstairs.
Seeing him so relaxed, Lu Zhaoyang thought that he might be right. Even if the old lady came, she would not necessarily meet Huo Yunting in the villa. So, Lu Zhaoyang put the things at the back of her mind.
On the following day, Huo Yunting got a call from the maid as soon as he returned to his office from a meeting.
“Young Master! Mrs. Huo has a high fever. She keeps calling your name in her stupor!”
“High fever? Let me talk to grandma!” Huo Yunting’s heart sank.
She still sounded okay yesterday. How come she became so ill today?
Huo Yunting heard some faint voice over the phone. The old lady coughed when she took the call.
“Yunting...” The old lay sounded frail. “Grandma misses you.”
“Grandma, please follow the doctor’s advice and take medicine. I will be there right away!”
Huo Yunting got up and rushed to the airport. He flew to the capital by private jet.
At about one o’clock in the afternoon, he was already at Huo family’s residence.
In the bedroom, Huo Yunting sat on the edge of the bed with a bowl of Chinese medicine in his hand looking at the frail old lady. “Why didn’t you tell me that you were not feeling well yesterday? Had I known that, I would have come back yesterday,” he said in a soft voice.
He seemed to be blaming himself.
“Did you not say that you were busy? I did not want to bother you. It was not that serious at first. I have just gotten a fever suddenly today. It was all the maid’s fault; she called you quietly.”
The old lady enjoyed the concern of her grandson, and she sounded pretty ill.
But the content in the bowl was not a medicine at all; it was just some supplements.
The old lady was not sick; she feigned it just to get Huo Yunting back.
“Do you still want to keep things from me? There is nothing—not even my work—more important than your health.”
Huo Yunting kept feeding his grandma the medicine from the bowl while speaking. His action was soft and gentle.
“I am most happy to know that my grandson cares about me.”
The old lady appeared delighted, but she did not feel good at all deep inside her.
Given a choice, she would instead not lure Huo Yunting back using this method.
She just could not understand what Lu Zhaoyang had done that both her son and grandson were so into her.
After finishing the bowl of medicine, the old lady took her mind off the thought and said, “You must be tired after catching the plane. Go, get a good rest. I need to take a nap too.”
