Chapter 184 - Finale
Editor: Sam
We wanted to peacefully say farewell to the matchmaking, but it turned out to be a big deal in the end, but apparently, Kingdom doesn’t intend to use this as diplomatic blackmail.
It was better to keep interacting with them through trade rather than making them owe Kingdom a small debt of gratitude.
Therefore, this meeting was accepted to give Farland face since they had come here to offer a match. We interacted with them. There were a few mishaps, but nothing serious.
Unfortunately, the matchmaking didn’t work out, but it was concluded that Farland and Kingdom will continue to get along well with each other.
However, while it’s nice for me to say that a small incident had happened, it made me angry that the adults said that it was nothing serious. But my anger was towards the adults.
“Lei, I’m really sorry.”
“It’s also because I wasn’t looking carefully.”
Lawk and Jeff hung their heads down. Lawk and Jeff must have been scolded pretty harshly for them to look this withered since Lawk never listened to people and Jeff listened, although it went in one ear and out the other.
“We didn’t supervise them enough.”
“We’re really sorry.”
I also got apologies from the two Nii-samas. However, these Nii-samas are still children.
“Ith’sh awrighth.”
I smiled.
“Jeww, Laww, and Nico. Thanwsh a woth for thhe fwowersh.” (Jeff, Lawk and Nico. Thanks a lot for the flowers)
They shouldn’t forget why they went to the back of the mansion because of the incident, because I was really happy to see the flower garden.
“Lei!”
“Ith hurthsh.”
Stop hugging me so tightly. Nii-sama and Gill pulled Jeff and Lawk away from me. Nii-sama, your smile is scary.
“Leila, I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry that I was so focused on myself that I didn’t see what was going on around me.”
The two Ojou-sans from Farland, who were apologising, aren’t adults yet either. One of them also shared her snacks with us during the matchmaking. There’s no way Prince Al is considerate enough to put a napkin on top of the plate of snacks.
However, Princess Tessa, who is a member of the royal family, should be a little more level-headed.
I looked sternly at the Farland attendants who were standing behind the apologising children. Princess Tessa was here, so were her guards. They might have been involved in negotiating since they didn’t stand out. However, the children of the Four Marquises, a.k.a us, were left entirely to their children to deal with.
And, they wanted the children to take responsibility for their own actions to the very end.
I looked stern and stepped forward quite a bit.
“Hey, what’s wrong?”
“Laww, move outh of thhe way.”
Lawk looked confused while gazing behind me, then he moved out of the way. Nii-sama probably did something. The other children also moved aside. Now only the adults from Farland were in front of me.
And they looked at me with dumb expressions on their faces.
I crossed my arms. Hans could read the mood right now and he didn’t say something like, “You’re not crossing your arms.” I was practically crossing them.
I looked at each and every one of them properly. From one end to the other, I gazed at them slowly.
“Lei wash widnapped when shhe wash shmaww.” (Lei was kidnapped when she was small)
The adults from Farland looked at me as if they were wondering what I was saying all of a sudden. Even now, some of them were holding back their laughter because I was small.
“Lei remembersh who widnapped her. And now...” (Lei remembers who kidnapped her. And now...)
I looked at each of them again from one end to the other.
“I’ww remember you Farwand peopwe.” (I’ll remember you Farland people.)
The adults started chatting for a moment, and then quietened down. Those who don’t know what had happened, won’t know what I was talking about. Those who suddenly twitched and looked serious may still have room for improvement.
“Chiwdren do thhingsh thhey’re noth shupposhed tho do. Aduwthsh are thhe ones who are shupposhed tho prothecth thhem from doing thhoshe thhingsh.” (Children do things they’re not supposed to do. Adults are the ones who are supposed to protect them from doing those things)
I asked them with my eyes if they had protected the children properly or understood what they were supposed to do. If they can’t understand that, then they’re hopeless.
“Everyone wash cwoshe by.” (Everyone was close by)
“Buffo.”
“Hansh wash also cwoshe by.”
Hans should have held back a bit longer. I said what I wanted to say, and when I tried to turn around, Nii-sama picked me up.
I didn’t realise that Nico had stood beside me and had his arms crossed or that Gill was standing diagonally behind him as if to protect him. I think the eye colours of Kingdom’s royals and the Four Marquises, which couldn’t be seen anywhere else, would have made a strong impression on Farland’s group.
Then, Gill spoke, “You guys. You may have come here to probe out Kingdom’s heir and the heirs of the Four Marquises but be careful.”
I was surprised by how he had phrased that, but I didn’t let it show on my face and silently looked at the Farland people.
“We were also trying to figure you out.”
Wow, cool.
Then, Nii-sama took his eyes off the Farland adults who had frozen in place, unable to say anything, and gathered the Farland children who had moved to the sides. The children thought they were going to be blamed as well and looked meek.
“It was fun. We will never forget our friendship with you. I hope we meet again someday.”
The big children lit up, but Jeff and Lawk were flabbergasted.
“It was fun. Let’s meet again someday.”
“It was fun.”
We will meet again. Jeff and Lawk looked brighter now that they understood this.
“Nico!”
“Lei!”
There was an aura of relief in the air.
In short, I forgive them because I became good friends with the children, but I just wanted to say that I’ll beat them up if they do something inappropriate. Nii-sama and Gill, thanks.
With this, my stay at Neville fief is really over now. I think it was quite a good trip.
