Chapter 264 - In Her Whole Life, There Was Only One Person That Was Able To Traumatize Her Psychologically With Merely A Few Words.
She initially thought that Liang Wenyin would be too busy with the art exhibition and would reject the offer but unexpectedly, she agreed to tag along.
Originally, they were amongst family; even if Wei Zilin were to tag along, he was a good friend of the family. There would be no scruples needed when talking and laughing with each other and they could get along casually. But that would not be the case if Liang Wenyin was there. So Yan Zhiqing’s expression was gloomy the entire way. At the table, she sat opposite Liang Wenyin, harboring a dark, hateful expression the whole time.
Liang Wenyin completely disregarded her and said to Wei Zilin, “I’m planning to open a gallery in B City. Teaching a class at school wouldn’t take much of my time and I have lots of time to do other things. I just signed under a brokerage company and the art exhibition this time around is operated by this same company. Right now, we’re only short of a public relations team, which the company is looking for one as well. The one we’re temporarily collaborating with was a second option and the brokerage company is not quite satisfied working with them. I know that Lin Yi is the best in the industry but we’ve never had the opportunity to cooperate. Can you give me an opportunity, Mr. Wei?”
Wei Zilin did not know about Yan Beicheng’s relationship with Liang Wenyin when they were young. But seeing that Yan Beicheng and Lin Chu had good attitudes and since she did not overstep her boundaries, he did not intend to make things difficult for her.
Moreover, she still had the Mo Family backing her up. Although the Liang Family did particularly need to depend on the Eight Dominant Families, there was no need to offend them. So he nodded and replied, “No problem. Ask your company to arrange a meeting with my assistant and discuss it in detail.”
Liang Wenyin politely thanked him and handed her business card to Wei Zilin.
Since it would be rude for Wei Zilin not to reciprocate, he took out his own business card and handed it to her.
This infuriated Yan Zhiqing so exceedingly that she wanted an argument right there and then. However, if she was not able to vent her feelings so holding her breath and fuming with rage between gritted teeth, Yan Zhiqing said she wanted to go to the washroom. She refused Yu Zi who offered to accompany her.
Operating the wheelchair by herself, Yan Zhiqing left the room and rushed toward the washroom. Due to her condition, she was able to use the disabled lavatory so she could always vent her feelings in private without being surrounded by others.
She grumbled as she propelled her wheelchair forward, “Shameless! Hmph! I can’t move around freely now. If I could stand up, I would’ve torn you apart. I’d be able to wear high heels too if I don’t have a plaster cast on my leg. I could’ve also worn a skirt to reveal my long legs.”
She was looking slightly down, focused on her grumbling. Suddenly, someone wearing high heels dashed in front of her, unable to avoid her. Yan Zhiqing held on to her joystick and tried to turn her wheelchair quickly. But a wheelchair is clumsier and slower, so they collided.
The woman, wearing pointed stilettos, was knocked down to the ground.
Yan Zhiqing heard the woman’s screech and thought herself very unlucky. Although in a terrible mood herself, she quickly apologized to the other. “I’m sorry, are you okay?”
Unfortunately, even with her good manners, the other party was unreasonable.
The person got up and her first reaction was to shriek in anger, “Don’t you have eyes! Don’t come out and weave around blindly just because you’re crippled. Not only do you people take up space because you can’t walk, you even block others from walking. You’re sitting on a dangerous thing. Don’t you look to see where you are going!”
“I’m not crippled, my leg is injured. Your eyes are the problem since you can’t even differentiate between the two.” Yan Zhiqing was so annoyed that she no longer cared about being polite.
Even though she was not raised by the Yan Family, she still identified herself as Miss Yan of the Yan Family. Apart from the Yan Family, no one ever dared to talk to her impolitely.
Yang Yunmeng was already angry. She was on a blind date today with the young master of the Wei Family. He was currently working for the Wen Family although she did not know what he worked as. She only knew that he was high level position within the Wen Family, which was itself a prestigious family. It was a matter of pride for her, considering his position.
Even though he was not an heir to the Wei Family, he was still from one of the Eight Dominant Families. Yan Yunmeng was already pleased upon after hearing this. Moreover, it was said that he was very handsome and so Yan Yunmeng was looking forward to this blind date even more.
Unexpectedly, he was half an hour late for the date. Yan Yunmeng would have left if it were any other date. She would have taken her bag and left the moment the other was late, never mind half an hour. No chance would be given.
She was born of a good family and a rich young lady herself. She went on to be a model as well. Not only did she do shows domestically, she also did shows for international brands and on several international fashion weeks. She was even signed for a huge reputable show next year. Adding all these to her family background, she was already a fashion celebrity that had a good position in the fashion industry.
She felt that her own position was great so when going on dates, she would be the picky one. But not everyone had such a great past.
Within her own circle, there was no shortage of opportunity in getting to know the opposite sex. But in the model circle, nine of the ten male models were GAY. As for actors, she could only say that she was not interested in them. Moreover, after being in her own circle for a long time, she was clear about the matters happening on the inside so she preferred to not date anyone in the same industry. Besides, those people’s families were not of the same standard as hers.
As for getting to know young masters of rich households, she still needed to rely on arranged blind dates.
This time, she decided to give the other party a chance because his position was really too good. Additionally, she already had planned for when the other party arrived. Whilst he was apologizing to her, she would act magnanimously, as if the other party’s situation satisfied her.
So when he arrived, she was very satisfied with him. He politely apologized to her for being late and she generously accepted. But who would have thought that after exchanging these few words, the two ended up being on a completely different wavelength with each other.
She was not a fool. A few words exchanged were sufficient for her to tell that the other party was completely uninterested in the blind date. So, her expression darkened and now not only her attitude was bad, her state of mind turned terrible as well. She, Yang Yunmeng, had such fantastic opportunities. Even if he was not interested before the date, should he had not change his mind upon seeing her and think about further developing their relationships?
He was completely uninterested in her. The man was probably blind and did not have good taste. His words were unpleasant but he actually had a more vicious mouth than she did. He did not bother to somewhat restraint himself even if she was a woman and did not have the slightest elegance.
Even if his prestigious conditions were good and he had a handsome appearance, Yan Yunmeng could not stand the way he spoke and immediately left, pulling a long face.
Even though it was not Yan Zhiqing’s fault, Yang Yunmeng was in a terrible state of mind and took the opportunity to completely vent her feelings on Yan Zhiqing.
Just for this date, she specifically chose to wear a skirt, with a pale pinkish gray pantyhose for the cold weather.
Now a thick black mark was on her light-colored pantyhose where she hit the wheelchair, ruining it.
Even her knee was particularly painful after getting hit, which made it momentarily difficult for her to get up.
“Is this the attitude you have after hitting someone?” Yang Yunmeng extended her hand. “Pull me up!”
Yan Zhiqing did not like this arrogant bully. Yan Yunmeng was someone that was constantly in foreign countries and Yan Zhiqing was not a permanent residence in the B City. B City was a place where if a stone were thrown into a crowd, it would probably hit a rich person.
There were so many rich people that not all of them know each other.
Hence, Yan Yunmeng and Yan Zhiqing were not aware of each other’s identity. Yan Zhiqing felt that she had already sincerely apologized to her. She was earlier in a bad mood herself and still needed to apologize to her as a matter of courtesy. This was a great improvement in her character and she felt that she had matured a lot.
It was unexpected to her that the other party could not forgive her. If it were not for her haste and not looking where she was going, would they have collided?
Those that can walk should give way to those on wheelchairs!
Therefore, Yan Zhiqing lost her patience. She was polite at first but now unable to tolerate matters
“It’s not solely my responsibility. I can’t walk conveniently, but you can. It’ll be more convenient for you to dodge me as well. You’re not looking at the road when you’re walking and was dashing forward. You obviously saw that I can’t walk yet you did not slow down to avoid me and now you’re blaming me? I even apologized to you, but you actually think that you did nothing wrong here?” Yan Zhiqing said she looked at Yang Yunmeng who was still sitting on the ground.
It did not make her look good. She looked quite a decent person actually but her posture was awkward and embarrassing.
She skillfully locked the wheel of the chair and reached her hand out to Yang Yunmeng. Yang Yunmeng took her hand, but when Yan Zhiqing was about to pull her up, she could not bear the resentment. Her appearance turned malevolent in a split second and with all the strength in her hand, pulled Yan Zhiqing to the ground with her.
Yan Zhiqing did not expect that someone would be this horrible so she was not expecting this. Her whole body fell to the ground as she screamed. Even her wheelchair overturned.
If she were to fall from a slightly higher position, those passing by could have saved her in time. But her position was low and the incident so sudden that even if their reactions were fast, it would be too late to pull her up.
She fixed her gaze upon the wheelchair about to fall on her leg. Yan Zhiqing could already anticipate the pain of it falling on her. But the anticipated pain did not come.
Yan Zhiqing opened her eyes that she had subconsciously shut tightly. She saw an arm in front of her, holding back the wheelchair.
Yan Zhiqing heaved a sigh of relief. Then she thanked the person without seeing who it was.
She heard a “tsk” sound from above. Yan Zhiqing was not familiar with this voice. However, the offensive tone made her feel like she had heard it from somewhere before.
She looked up in curiosity and saw a face filled with disgust.
The hospital’s poison-tongued man!
“Why is it you!” Yan Zhiqing no longer felt the slightest happiness at being saved. Her face filled with shock and disgust.
In her whole life, there was only one person that was able to traumatize her psychologically with merely a few words.
She could not help but think that other than this poison-tongued man, there was no other that could be disliked for merely helping. To be able to do this each time was a talent as well.
“Only your mouth is ferocious but when you actually have to strike you’re useless.” Wei Wucai grinned without trying to hide the mockery he had towards Yan Zhiqing.
He bent his waist forward as he talked and reached his hand out to her. It shocked Yan Zhiqing to her core.
She was about to ask him what he wanted to do but Wei Wucai had already lifted her up. Then she was placed back onto her wheelchair.
Then Wei Wucai said in a tone that make people just want to punch him. “If you want row with others in the future, make sure that you wait until you can move. You’re just constantly rushing to create a disturbance when you’re still half-crippled, are you just dying to get beaten up? I’ve never seen someone as stupid as you. Your whole family’s smart, even Yan Ningbai, that little brat, is smarter than you are. Is it because you’ve donated all of your IQ?”
Yan Zhiqing’s mouth opened wide in bewilderment. What he said was too much and harsh for her to accept.
Wei Wucai looked at her stupefied expression and could not help but let out another “tsk”. It was filled with mockery.
“You know me?” Yan Zhiqing asked when she was finally able to respond.
Wei Wucai placed one hand on the wheelchair and the other one inside his trouser’s pocket. He looked at her condescendingly. “Wei Wucai. Yan Beicheng looked for the Wen Family for help the Lu Family’s matter. I was one of the persons in charge.”
Yan Zhiqing’s mouth opened and closed continuously. Momentarily she had no idea how to respond.
Suddenly, she smacked the top of her wheelchair’s armrest with strength and exclaimed loudly, “You know my brother and yet you’re still impolite to me!”
“Why should I be polite to you just because I know your brother?” Wei Wucai raised his eyebrows and grinned in despise. “I’m only lending you a hand because I know your brother. Otherwise, why would I intervene in a passer-by’s argument?”
Yan Zhiqing, “...”
So she still needed to thank him!
But Yan Zhiqing immediately recalled that she already thanked him twice before...
Next time, she won’t open her mouth so fast and she will only thank them after looking at them.
Wait, that was not right. There should be no next time. Why should she be the one who losses time and time again?
Prior to this, Yan Zhiqing had never been at a disadvantage with outsiders. Lin Chu and Yu Zi was another matter. They were the daughters-in-law of the Yan Family so they did not count as outsiders. Even if she did lose to them, she was only losing to family.
Thought this way, Yan Zhiqing suddenly realize that every time she has a misfortune, he will be nearby. If she were to twist that around, it also meant that every time he was nearby, she would have bad luck.
Therefore, her constantly suffering in front of outsiders were all because of Wei Wucai!
Yan Zhiqing immediately had an ominous feeling. She looked at Wei Wucai and realized that if rays of misfortune emitted from his body, it only shone on her.
At this very moment, Wei Wucai was also looking at Yan Zhiqing silently. Then, he thought what Yuan Jiangyi said when he first met her in the hospital.
He told him that he had a poisonous mouth and he was able to scare away all the woman he had met with merely a few words.
What was the name of the blind date earlier? He barely remembered what she looked like. Anyway, after the end of his first sentence and he was halfway through his second sentence, the other party’s expression had turned dark and got up. She said she had other matters to attend to and had to go, even though the meal not finished.
It was exactly what Yuan Jiangyi described.
After Yang Yunmeng left, Wei Wucai did not chase after her either. He asked the waiter for the bill, without hurry, even though only one of the dishes had arrived. Then, he unhurriedly came out and saw that Yang Yunmeng had fallen. She was preoccupied with swearing at Yan Zhiqing.
Of course, Yan Zhiqing was not holding back. She immediately retorted after being sworn at.
He realized that they collided with each other after listening to the exchange between the two. Because Yan Zhiqing was sitting in a wheelchair, the weight did not topple her over.
Yan Zhiqing argued impolitely whilst still extending her arm to pull Yang Yunmeng up.
When he saw Yang Yunmeng’s moves, he knew that something was wrong. Yan Yunmeng had wanted to drag Yan Zhiqing down and since Yan Zhiqing was not anticipating the attack, she would fall into the trap.
Wei Wucai’s movements were fast. Even though he could not pull Yan Zhiqing back in time, he still was able to stop the falling wheelchair immediately.
Now Yan Zhiqing stared at him as if in a trance. Wei Wucai’s mind also drifted and he could not help but recall that the last time they met, Yan Zhiqing and he had exchanged more than a few words with each other.
Now, it was a lot more.
He knew that he had a vicious mouth but could not help it. He was a person that would tell the truth. He cannot not help himself when he sees anyone do anything foolish. Of course, Yuan Jiangyi had never done anything smart so he was too lazy to even use his words on him. He would use his hands instead.
The thing that surprised him now was that although Yan Zhiqing was angry, she did not turn around and left in a dark mood as the other woman did. Even though her expression was dark, she continued talking to him.
Wei Wucai touched his chin, wanting to continue his pondering. Then he heard a dreadful voice on his side.
“Wei Wucai, do you even care about me!”
Wei Wucai realized there was someone that still had not gotten up and still on the floor. He turned to look.
Yang Yunment saw Wei Wucai’s face that had a ‘Who are you?’ look all over his face and was very angry.
Then, Wei Wucai looked like he only just recognized her and a moment later, recalled her name. He asked in a tone, still uncertain. “Miss Yang?”
Yang Yunmeng could not hold back anymore. Her whole face distorted as she sneered at him with a cold smile. “I’m grateful to Mr. Wei for remembering me, this person that you’ve just met only five minutes ago.”
Wei Wucai seemed bothered with Yang Yunmeng’s attitude towards him. He chuckled twice before saying, “Do get up, Miss Yang. Since you’re presumably quite a reputable top model, it’ll not be good for others to see you in such an inelegant position.”
Yang Yunmeng was stunned and her expression turned for the worse. The heels of her high-heeled shoes were so high that it was difficult to get up. However, Wei Wucai did not look like he had any intention of helping her up.
She thought about how Wei Wucai personally bent over and held Yan Zhiqing up and yet he now merely stared at her in her difficult position. Yang Yunmeng’s face distorted even more.
As she fretted over these trivial thoughts, she actually brought more humiliation upon herself unnecessarily. She should have kicked off her heels, got up barefooted and then put the heels back on afterwards.
Yan Zhiqing had a blank look, unable to grasp the situation. She stared at Yang Yunmeng blankly. “Top model? So why don’t I recognize you.”
She was not one to pay attention to the model circle. There were two models that had just come back from the United States recently and they often appeared on variety shows. But, Yang Yunmeng had high self-esteem and was a debutante. She felt that there was no need for her to do variety shows for public amusement as she was grand and elegant. It was not surprising that Yan Zhiqing did not recognize her.
Wei Wucai could not bear it after listening to Yan Zhiqing’s stupidity. “It’s no wonder you’re always at a disadvantage, it’s ’cause you’re this stupid.”
“I think it’s due to the misfortune aura emitted by someone. It’s completely spreading all over me!” Yan Zhiqing returned him a sarcastic repartee.
Every time he showed up, there would be misfortune. All the facts were laid bare in front of him and yet he dared called her the stupid one?
Wei Wucai smirked at her. “Is it possible that you’re actually blaming me?”
Yan Zhiqing arrogantly lifted her chip and said, “Hmph!” Then, she turned her wheelchair to move away from him.
Originally, she wanted to go to the washroom to vent her frustration. But now, after quarreling with Wei Wucai, she felt much better and did not need to go anymore.
Wei Wucai felt that there was something wrong with his muscles. Before his brain could respond, his long legs turned to follow her. Yang Yunmeng wasstill supporting herself against the wall due to her sore leg. She saw Wei Wucai’s action and scoffed at him, “Stupid!”
Wei Wucai’s listening ability was too great due to his training in the Wen Family since he was young. He heard what she said and turned to look at Yang Yunmeng.
Then he saw Yang Yunmeng look at him with a cold smirk on her face, as if he was stupid.
Wei Wucai grinned back, there was no need to lower himself to that woman’s level. He turned his gaze, merely feeling wronged in his heart. He obviously had a high IQ.
“Why are you following me?” Yan Zhiqing paused, turning to look at him.
Wei Wucai was a tall person. Yan Zhiqing had to look up to him even if she was standing, let alone now sitting down. So she was disadvantaged in terms of height.
Wei Wucai pondered Yang Yunmeng’s strange expression earlier when she looked like she was looking at a fool. So, his legs were only following after her unconsciously.
He did not understand. Did he do something stupid that others could see?
Wei Wucai was a person that had never allowed others the opportunity to mock him for foolish actions.
However, before he could think further, he remembered Yan Zhiqing’s question. So he decided not to answer her but asked her instead “Who did you come here with?”
