Chapter 26: Being Regarded as a Mistress (2)
shameless that you climb up the bed of the deputy director! Do you want to be
famous? Don't dream..."
After she finished speaking, Nelly Smith took out her cell phone from her bag.
When she got through, she cried pitifully and exaggeratedly said something
which was not true to the other side. Then, I didn't know what the other side on
the phone said, but I saw she looked at me proudly, as if I was going to
encounter something terrible when I arrived at the public security bureau!
Before, I was indifferent. After all, it was I who hit her first, which could be proved
by the monitor in the shopping mall. But sometimes, in front of super power,
unpractical events could become evidence of conviction!
Since Nelly Smith had close relationship with a powerful man in the police
security bureau, then it was obvious that Merlin and I had become the weak side.
Maybe it was not easy to handle this matter!
...
In the police station, Merlin and I were invited to enter a small room with the sign
of "interrogation room".
"We're just having some arguments. Sir, there is no need to be so serious, right?"
"Don't talk nonsense. Fight with others and intentionally hurt others. Don't you
know what you will be convicted later? I advise you to tell the truth that why you
beat Miss Smith and then write a petition to ask the judge to give you a
suspended sentence considering that you are a first offender." After glancing at
us, the auxiliary police locked the door.
Before closing the door, I saw Nelly Smith's unkind eyes and proud expression,
which made me feel anxious.
and worried.
During this period, I got to know the situation from Merlin, which made me more
unconfident ans anxious.
After all, about this matter, It was Merlin's fault. In the bottom line of social
morality, the mistress, even if she was innocent, would be accused and be
condemned. No one would stand up for Merlin. Even though she said all the time
that she did not know they hadn't divorced and was deceived, the unrelated
people would not care her weak reasons.
Besides, Merlin was working in the entertainment circle. Once this happened and
the reporters avoided the important and dwelt on the trivial in their articles. Then
only the pressure from public opinion would ruin Merlin.
I was immediately regretful that why I was so impulsive to wrestle with Nelly
Smith at that time. If I suffered some sort of loss, the situation would not be so
serious.
"Lydia, I really haven't expect that Richard is such a person! He told me clearly
that they had divorced, but he lied to me. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry... Lydia,
you slap me, you slap me! It's all my fault, and now you have been involved in
this matter because of my fault!"
Merlin had collapsed under the pressure from the bottom of her heart and the
cruel facts. She paralyzed at my feet and kept slapping on her face.
Merlin and I were very good friends. In fact, we became friends because we had
the same experience, we lived the same poor and lonely life, and we felt
sympathy for each other. Her father was addicted to gambling and lost all his
property, and even sold her younger sister in order to pay off his gambling debts.
After years of torture, her mother could not bear to kill her father and then
committed suicide.
Later, she went to the orphanage and lived there for more than ten years. After
graduating from junior high school, she went to the studio city to make a living.
