Qiu Tong consulted with her lawyer about the procedures and things to take note of in court.

Jin Yang casually picked up two glass cups and went to the kitchen. He took out a honey pomelo syrup from the fridge and brewed some drinks.

“Take your time to discuss this. I’ll go accompany the children.”

In a very natural manner, Jin Yang handed the warm drinks to the lawyer. He spoke gently as he looked at Qiu Tong.

Qiu Tong ignored his gesture of goodwill. Her back remained facing him.

Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao hid at the corner of the stairs. They stared in the direction of Jin Yang and Qiu Tong. Two little heads were huddled together, discussing in low voices how to torture Jin Yang!

Since he had deceived Qiu Tong, he had to pay a price!

Qiu Xingqiao’s eyes flickered. He ran back to his room and found the vegetable juice that he usually kept hidden. He quietly sneaked into the kitchen and found some hot mustard sauce. He mixed the two together and stirred the turbid liquid. He pinched his nose to prevent himself from smelling the pungent smell.

Qiu Xingyuan brought the juice to Jin Yang’s side and pushed it toward him without a word.

Jin Yang stared at him in surprise. The mustard sauce had settled at the bottom of the cup. The color was so striking that there was no way he hadn’t noticed it.

Helpless, he held his forehead with one hand and asked with a bitter smile, “You want me to drink this?”

Qiu Xingyuan crossed his arms and nodded solemnly. He continued to stare at Jin Yang, looking like he would only leave after he finished drinking it.

Jin Yang sighed, his slender fingers grasped the glass cup. He held his breath as he gulped down the juice. The mustard burned his stomach as the stinging smell mixed with his insides.

He covered his thin lips with his hand, desperately trying to suppress his nausea.

“It’s quite delicious.”

Jin Yang squeezed out a smile with difficulty. Qiu Xingyuan frowned and looked at him. His pupils quivered. “Liar.”

Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao returned to the room. Jin Yang sat on the sofa with his hands covering his stomach. Qiu Xingyu had gotten two cups of yogurt from somewhere and stuffed them into his hands.

“Thank you.”

Jin Yang spoke to the little girl gently. Qiu Xingyu’s eyes were sparkling, but she refused to speak to him.

The two of them looked at each other for a long time. Qiu Xingyu took out a piece of notepaper she always carried with her. She wrote down a few lines of words and quietly stuffed it into Jin Yang’s hand. She then turned her back to him and pretended like nothing had happened.

Jin Yang was amused by her adorable actions. He looked down at the elegant handwriting and his smile froze on his face.

“My brothers said that you’re a liar who cheated Mommy and even wanted to swindle us away. Is that true?”

Jin Yang was feeling very conflicted. He wrote down his reply. “Uncle has lied to you before, but I had my reasons for doing so. I definitely don’t want to ruin your lives, nor do I want you and Mommy to be in danger. I want to help you.”

“Uncle is not a bad person.”

After Jin Yang finished writing, he rolled up the note and poked Qiu Xingyu’s shoulder with his fingertips.

The two of them were like children in kindergarten, sneaking notes to each other.

Qiu Xingyu bit her lips and looked at Jin Yang with her mouth pursed.

She stared at Jin Yang with clear eyes. Qiu Xingyu pricked up her ears to listen to the sounds in the bedroom. She wrote a few lines in a fluster.

“I believe you.”

“But my brothers hate you. They discussed chasing you away. Remember not to drink anything they give you in the future!”

“I’ll help you persuade Mommy not to blame you.”

“My brothers are actually very easy to coax. As long as you remember…”

Jin Yang received the note and looked at the densely packed small words that contained things to take note of regarding Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao. The corners of his mouth curled into a relaxed smile.

Qiu Xingyu looked at him nervously and expectantly. Jin Yang smoothed the crumpled piece of paper and carefully placed it in his pocket.

“I will work hard.”

Qiu Xingyu smiled sweetly at his actions.

She heard the sound of the door opening and hurriedly ran to the other end of the living room, pretending that nothing had happened and maintaining a distance from Jin Yang.

Qiu Xingyuan and Qiu Xingqiao came out of the room. Taking advantage of the fact that they could not see her, Little Yu quietly pumped her fists in the air to cheer Jin Yang on. Her adorable actions were like pebbles dropping down and causing waves in Jin Yang’s heart.

His heart was filled with a bitter sweetness.

Qiu Tong understood from her lawyer how grave the situation was. Her expression became increasingly solemn as she twisted her fingers nervously.

In the evening, Qiu Tong respectfully escorted the lawyer out of the villa. She stood at the door for a long time without returning to her room.

Footsteps came from behind. Qiu Tong thought it was Ke Le. She let her guard down and revealed a tired expression. “Looks like we have to pack our things and move out of this city. If you don’t want to leave with us, I can settle your compensation now…”

She could not take a risk with the children’s safety, to take a gamble on a mere 20% chance of winning this lawsuit.

Qiu Tong’s heart was heavy. Having not received a reply for a long time, she turned only to see Jin Yang behind her. His expression was full of pain. The two of them quietly averted their eyes from each other.

Jin Yang wanted to place a jacket on Qiu Tong’s shoulder, but she dodged it.

“I have a way to help you keep the children with you.”
