Chapter 286

Chapter 286

February 24th, 2021, 12:45 (U.S.T. February 23rd, 23:45)

The depths 250km west of San Francisco, California, U.S.A. (the Lee Hui-hyung’s position (SSP-091))

A top-secret message from the naval strategic command was sent to the Lee Hui-hyung (SSP-091) waiting in the depths 100m below the surface.

Colonel Lee Yeon-jae, the captain of the submarine, received the encrypted message from his first mate and read it over. The message was definitely from the naval strategic command.

The contents were simple.

“Begin ‘Operation Wrath of God’ as soon as receiving this message. Follow through with the established strategy as planned.”

After reading the encrypted message’s short contents, Colonel Lee Yeon-jae folded the message in half and gave it to the first mate authority over at the bridge. Then, he walked to the battle station.

“Captain at the battle station,” the operations aide-de-camp shouted after seeing the captain arrive first. The crew at the battle station all stood still, and the operations director saluted.

“Sir!”

“At ease.” The captain then gave an order to the communications director first. “Call captain Na Il-hoo.”

“Yes, sir.”

A moment later, the Lee Hui-hyung’s (SSP-091) medical officer, Captain Na Il-hoo, came into the battle station and saluted his captain.

“Sir!”

“At ease,” Colonel Lee Yeon-jae answered the salute and handed Captain Na the encrypted message.

The medical officer, Captain Na Il-hoo, started to carefully read the encrypted message. Since the contents were short, he was able to read it quickly. He checked the encrypted password one more time and pulled out his tags from underneath his shirt. There was another thin card-shaped object attached to his tags as well.

Captain Na Il-hoo detached the card from his tags and handed it to Colonel Lee. “The password has been confirmed, sir. I have now handed the launch card to you as the message stated.”

Colonel Lee Yeon-jae answered, “At 12:34 K.S.T., I have received the launch card from Captain Na Il-hoo.”

Since the Super Hocula submarines were equipped with tactical weapons, it was designed to not allow the weapons to be used with the captain’s approval alone. Therefore, the medical officers aboard would hold one of the two launch cards. The medical officers were obviously trained thoroughly about this before being a part of the crew.

Colonel Lee Yeon-jae pulled out the other card he had and handed it to the operations director while giving an order, “We begin ‘Operation Wrath of God.’ Enter the launch codes.”

The operations director inserted both cards into the console. “Launch approval cards have been inputted.”

Colonel Lee Yeon-jae gave additional orders after hearing the operation director’s reports. “Check the target allotments and coordinates.”

“Checking the coordinates now, sir.”

“Check the launch depth.”

“Launch depth at 100. There are no issues. All 80 target coordinates are set, sir.”

“Open the loop door!”

“Launch after a 10-second countdown.”

“Launching after countdown! Starting now, sir.”

The arms man started the countdown, “10, 9, 8... 3, 2, 1, fire!”

When the arms man pressed the launch button, the launch pad at the center of the submarine started to launch the SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missiles using its plasma output system. The 20 SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missiles all shot out from the launch tubes in sequence and started to rise to the surface against the water’s resistance.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Pillars of water started to rise from the calm ocean surface, and the SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missiles emerged and shot up into the sky. The self-thrusters started to ignite, and after a blue light flashed, the missiles disappeared into the dark sky.

“Prepare the second round of missiles! Reload!”

“Preparing for the second launch! Reloading.”

The Choi Jun (SSP-092) 50km south of the Lee Hui-hyung (SSP-091) also launched their SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missiles. The missiles rose to the ocean surface and flew up to the sky continuously.

The two Super Hocula submarines launched a total of 160 SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missiles from the depths of America’s west coast 250km away. These missiles were launched in ballistic mode to strike the eastern side of America. They broke through the outer atmosphere, and those targeting the western regions started to fly towards their targets in cruise mode at Mach 20 10m above the ocean surface.

,000km above the Kansas atmosphere, U.S.A. (tactical satellite CS-AD Zeus 3’s location)

The Zeus 3 satellite had launched two types of missiles towards America and started to intercept the missiles launched by the American air force bases. The 50mm high-powered laser cannon equipped at the lower part of the satellite started to aim at the missiles flying up into space.

The 500 rounds of Minutemen series missiles all broke through the outer atmosphere and continued to raise their altitude in a long line. The Zeus 3 started intercepting the LGM-30G ICBMs at the lead.

The ICBMs had an approximate range of 10,000km, and their flying altitude would be 1,500km.

The laser cannon sparked up, then a high-powered laser beam started to shoot towards the surface. The red 50mm laser beam immediately struck the LGM-30G ICBM’s body and it exploded. The interception process continued.

Multiple flashes of light glimmered at the outer atmosphere and the dark American skies lit up from the explosions as if fireworks were going off in space.

One hundred of America’s ICBMs, approximately 20% of all the launched missiles, were already turned into dust in space. However, there were still over 390 rounds of ICBMs headed towards Corea.

Meanwhile, at the western atmosphere above Corea, four CFS/A-31SP Three-toed Crow space jets were flying through space at Mach 30.

The Nellis Air Force base, Nevada, U.S.A. (Area 51)

Forty rounds of SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missiles launched from the Choi Jun (SSP-092) all flew 10m above the ocean surface and started to raise their altitude to 100m once they reached the mainland. The missile’s speed of Mach 20 caused the trees and buildings to shake from the sonar blast as the missiles flew past.

When the SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missiles targeting the Nellis base reached the vicinity of their targets, they used the pop-up flight mode to shoot up into the sky.

The Nellis Air Force base operated the Patriot PAC-3 anti-air missiles, but they only detected the SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missiles after they had popped up and reached the terminal phase. It was too late to attempt an interception. The Gungnir-II missiles only took a few seconds to reach their targets after popping up.

Boooooom~ Wooooosh~

The missile crashed into the Nellis Air Force base at Mach 20. A few seconds later, another SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missile struck the Nellis Air Force base and shook the entire area. The shock caused the surrounding air to be sucked up.

Two large mushroom clouds over 2km high rose one after the other. The enormous shock and heatwave caused everything within a 20km vicinity to vaporize.

The Nellis Air Force base, also known as Area 51, was built in the middle of a desert. Corea’s Joint Chief of Staff had specially set two SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missiles for it. The base was directly related to the USSC organization so it needed to be wiped off the map if Corea was to compete against America the global power in the future.

To achieve this goal, the Joint Chief of Staff used two rounds of the SD-SLBN Gungnir-II missiles that rivaled the power of the 1Mt class nuclear bomb.

Booooooom~

Mushroom clouds rose continuously at the Nellis Air Force base. The region turned into a crater with a radius of 2km, and no trace of its facilities on the surface could be found. It had literally vanished.

The black and red flames and smoke covered the area like a fog. Also, the surrounding area within 30km of the Nellis base all looked as if it was swept by a giant broom. The low buildings under five stories high all collapsed from being swept by the shockwave. Only the large buildings maintained their outer appearance. However, the interior was destroyed by the shock and heatwave. There was no possibility for any living organism to survive.

The Nellis Air Force base’s underground research facility was designed to withstand a 20Mk class nuclear blast, but the explosion shook the entire facility.

The Nellis Air Force base, Nevada, U.S.A. (Area 51 director’s office)

“Director, you must evacuate to the shelter, sir,” Chief of Security Robin rushed into the office and breathed heavily.

“What’s going on out there?” Director Howard Harley, who was in charge of the entire Area 51 research facility, asked from under his desk while shaking in fear.

“Amazingly, he was able to get under the desk despite his size,” Chief Robin thought while answering the director, “It seems we have been attacked by missiles, sir.”

“Missile strikes? This is a facility that can withstand nuclear blasts. What did they hit us with?”

Director Howard Harley crawled out from underneath his desk. His face was covered in sweat.

“Let’s evacuate first, sir. The power of the blast is suspiciously powerful. This whole place could collapse.”

“Collapse? Ah, I understand. Let’s go.”

Director Howard Harley had maintained his director’s seat for Area 51 for six years. The only thing that had changed was his weight. The obese Director Harley waddled behind Chief Robin to the shelter.

The underground research facility’s hallway started to shake and pieces of the ceiling fell off, despite the entire facility being covered by an outer steel plating. The light installed on the ceiling started to flicker as well.

“Who *huff* would dare attempt to attack America’s military base *puff* and actually, go through with it? *Huff* *Puff* Those mother fuckers!”

Director Howard Harley seemed to struggle walking along the hallway despite leaning heavily against the walls. He swore under his breath.

The shelter was placed 200m below the surface to prepare for situations like a Third World War breaking out. It was designed with a self-sustaining generator, air filtration system, and water system using the subterranean water. The shelter was equipped and capable of sustaining 1,000 people safely for a year.

However, the base at Area 51 vanished into history after the C-SH Zinog II missiles launched by the Zeus 3 satellite struck the area 30 minutes later. It had literally vaporized.

The C-SH Zinog-II missile was equipped with plasma cluster rounds, and it exploded after breaching 100m below the surface. The shock had caused the terrain to warp and the underground facility to collapse or melt from the heat.
