Chapter 125: A Man Is Meant to Be Staunch
“Throw your Zhanmadao and moon bow into it...”
“Oh.” Qian Jin consciously “put” his Zhanmadao and moon bow into the space, and then the space was suddenly filled with these two weapons. This indicated that it wasn’t his imagination.
“Ok, you can leave them inside.” The old man whispered to Qian Jin, “Let go of your warrior power.”
Qian Jin stopped the warrior power soaring inside him, and the illusory space disappeared. Qian Jin found that the Zhanmadao he was holding in his hand and the moon bow he carried on his back were no longer on him.
“Is this...” Qian Jin looked at his master and asked, “A real space?”
“It is called the warrior dimension, a place owned only by the warriors.” The old man’s face shined with pride as he spoke of the benefits enjoyed by warriors, “It’s different from the mages’ spatial storage item. It doesn’t have a materialized body, but it will accompany warriors and disappear into the void upon the death of its honorable master.”
Qian Jin clenched his fists firmly, feeling the rotating power inside his body. Obtaining the warrior dimension didn’t provide him with more strength, but he had gained an unimaginable advantage that outweighed any tangible increase in strength.
As a warrior and an apprentice in forging, pharmacy and mystic pharmacy, Qian Jin needed to carry many things. Even if there wasn’t much of the energy stone lode and energy stones left, packing them all and carrying them out was a huge burden on him, let alone the iron ores inside the energy stone lode. Although the iron ore wasn’t as valuable, as a blacksmith he still needed some. Additionally, as a pharmacist, he had to pick up useful plants whenever he came across them. There were stacks of herbs he collected from the mountain cave.
Qian Jin once thought about leaving the Four Season Valley, but there was the issue of carrying his backpack. Even if he had enough stamina to do so, walking with such a heavy bag wouldn’t be that practical.
The warrior dimension solved all the problem which had puzzled him for months.
“How big is your warrior dimension?” The old man eventually asked. He placed his hand over his heart and watched Qian Jin vigilantly, as if the boy would scare him into a heart attack.
“Approximately...” Qian Jin drew a circle of about ten square meters on the ground, “of this length and height.”
The old man pushed at his heart with his palm and said in a shocking voice, “That large?”
“Yeah, almost that large.”
The old man waved his hand at Qian Jin and said, “I want to live a little longer. Fix your things and get out of here as soon as possible. Living with you for the past two years has reduced my lifespan at least ten years!”
“How large is a normal warrior dimension?”
“30 percent of your size!” The old raised up three fingers and growled, “Only 30 percent of your size! Okay? Do you understand? Get out of here right now! Get away from me as soon as possible! Don’t show up in front of me1 I want to live several years longer...”
Despite the loud growling, Qian Jin could still feel his master’s sorrow for the coming departure, so he bowed deeply to this old man and said, “Master, why not go with me...”
“Why would I want to leave? To be mocked by others? Or...” The old man sighed and waved his hands fiercely. “It’s none of your business. Enough is enough. Get out of here, right now.”
The two girls imitated Qian Jin and deeply bowed at the old man.
“Master, I’m leaving.” Qian Jin bent his waist even lower. Without this old man’s meticulous instructions for the past two years, he would’ve never had his current achievements, no matter how hard he tried in the [Endless World].
“Go, go, go. Why do you behave like a woman? This isn’t what you used to be in the past! If you go out like this, you will only be bullied by others and become their plaything! Staunch! A man is meant to be staunch like how you used to be! Get out of here! I’m still alive! Don’t make such a fuss as if I have died!”
The harder the old man cursed, the more Qian Jin felt his care. He slowly stood up, and with a smile and tears on his face, he said, “I bow to no one except for my parents and you, my dear master. Even if I face the demon king in the future, I’ll still stand straight and keep my head raised up!”
“Okay, enough. I get it, now get out!” The old man shouted at Qian Jin as he turned away. “Boy! Remember to apply for a higher level advanced warrior academy! I don’t who or where you learned so many unorthodox techniques, but the courses taught at the warrior academies area compiled from numerous grand warriors. You’re lacking in this aspect, so you’ve only managed to become a Level 9 Demon Fighter in the last two years! Otherwise, I bet you could be even better...”
Qian Jin strode away from the old man. His raised his clenched right fist and use his force to produce an exploding sound in the air.
“You bad guy...” The old man’s eyes showed deep care for Qian Jin as he murmured, “your unorthodox techniques are useful, but the experiences drawn by many great warriors will be helpful to you.”
The snow had accumulated up to Qian Jin’s ankles, and it was as if the world wanted to maintain the cold winter and refuse the arrival of spring. Stepping on the snow, one could hear creaking sounds which resembled the cries of the snow.
The road outside the Four Season Valley was covered with snow. The three winding rows of footsteps meandered until the exterior of the forest of the Sunset Mountains.
Three snow tigers groveled by the roadside with their heads lowered. Qian Jin flashed these atrocious demon beasts a look when he walked by, leading them to behave wisely.
Qian Jin walked in the middle of the two girls. He turned his hand, picked up the Zhanmadao from the warrior dimension, and then rotated his waist again to place it back. He took the moon bow which he used to shoot vultures.
He twisted his waist again, changing the moon bow into two fish scale throwing knives. Although the hardness of the fish scale throwing knives couldn’t rival that of metal weapons made from iron, they still possessed some unique properties. After all, they were medical materials for mystic pharmacists! Qian Jin once read in Eulalia’s books that these materials came from hybridized demon beasts, but as for the efficacy of their scales, Qian Jin didn’t know how useful they were. However, out of his acute intuition as an apprentice of a mystic pharmacist, Qian Jin left these throwing knives which were replaced by metal knives in the warrior dimension.
Qian Jin turned his hand again, and a long spear appeared in his palm. Qian Jin waved it up and down several times, producing mourning sound that contained murderous intent.
Sophia looked at the spear in Qian Jin’s hand enviously. Although this weapon wasn’t handy as a sword, it was high quality. When warrior energy was transmitted into swords, a vast majority of it would be obstructed and consumed by the metal. As for this spear, which was even longer than two-handed swords, more warrior energy would be transferred, with less disappearing in the conducting process.
Qian Jin kept picking up different weapons from the warrior dimension and tried them in his hands. The warrior dimension was an ideal place for storage, but the battlefront was full of emergencies. If he couldn’t fetch a weapon agilely, it would be better for him to carry one on his back or hold it in his hand.
The operation of the warrior dimension followed simple rules. Qian Jin made sure that his weapon fetching speed was no slower than unloading them from his back before he stopped practicing. As for the long spear named [Poor Armor], Qian Jin placed it back into the warrior dimension rather than giving it to Sophia like how he handed the magic core to Gabriella.
Qian Jin again turned his hand and looked at the map which had been with him for two years. He smiled and said to Gabriella, “There’s one thing left to do. It seems that we haven’t passed the test.”
Feeling shocked, Gabriella stopped and nodded her head repeatedly, making the big mage hat move from one side to another. The test lasted a long time. Having stayed here in the Four Season Valley, they had totally forgotten about the test.
“I need a strand of red hair from the golden furred monkey king’s head.” Qian Jin tapped his lips with his right forefinger. He thought carefully and said, “You need an egg of the demon flamingo, right?”
Gabriella nodded. Qian Jin crossed his hands behind his head and laughed, “These two tests were difficult for us at that time. But now... hehe... let’s go! Let’s go complete the easiest test ever in history.”
Qian Jin had spent two years studying blacksmithing and pharmacy in the [Endless World]. Uncle Blake sometimes asked Qian Jin to carry the Zhanmadao, strong bows and throwing knives forged by the latter to hunt for some mine resources in the vast West Mountain or to collect some herbs for the two rivalling pharmacists.
No one would be free from fighting when going into the West Mountains.
The road to mineral resources was always filled with all kinds of enemies and demon beasts. The power and ferocity of these creatures were much stronger than those of the swordsmen he ran into in the West Mountain the other day. After every fight, Qian Jin would be wounded before he completed his mission and came back to the village.
Through multiple battles, Qian Jin had accumulated more fighting experience than his peers. He also gained a deeper understanding of the various wild creatures.
Qian Jin walked out of the valley and found the habitat of the golden furred monkeys by tracing the beasts’ feces on the ground without even looking at the map.
More than three hundred golden furred monkeys were gathered, staring at Qian Jin and his two fellows with their six hundred eyes. Some militant monkeys grinded their teeth and made aggressive and horrible voices towards them.
The monkey king with a strand of red hair on its head was sitting in middle of the other monkeys. Several female monkeys were killing the fleas over its body, making the monkey king look like the equivalent of the emperor in the human world.
Gabriella and Sophia had complete confidence in Qian Jin, out of instinct they still rushed to hide behind Qian Jin’s back.
“You.” Qian Jin pointed to the monkey king sitting in the middle and referred to his red hair, “Pull it out and hand it to me.”
