Chapter 216 - The Reappearance of the Freshmen Trial by Fire
Chapter 216: The Reappearance of the Freshmen Trial by Fire
Time flew by, and in the blink of an eye, the day of the freshmen trials had arrived.
The melodious horn sounded, and the neatly dressed students carried the banner of the Hunter Academy in unison as they walked into the Golden Trial Arena.
The trial arena was located on a hill in the northwest of Hunter College.
Currently, the ring-shaped spectator stands of the trial arena were filled with all the teachers and students of Hunter College.
When the red flag of Hunter College fluttered in the sky, each squad from the various colleges entered the arena one after another.
From the east, west, south, and north gates of the arena came the Law Faculty, the Close Combat Faculty, the Summoning Faculty, and the Manufacturing Faculty.
The blue banner of honor belonging to the Law Faculty was being waved by a beautiful senior who was leading the group.
Behind that senior was the Law Faculty’s freshman team.
Mike walked unwillingly beside that beautiful senior.
The reason for that was because he was dressed as the mascot of the Law Faculty.
It was a very hot day and this mask was very stuffy.
“If I had known earlier, I wouldn’t have gone to Maggie’s office.”
Mike grumbled.
It turned out after Mike had parted ways with Tegpus last night, he had suddenly received a message from Maggie.
She had asked him to go to her office.
Mike had obediently gone.
When he got to Maggie’s office, Maggie got straight to the point and explained to Mike.
“Mike, due to your repeated violations of class rules and various reasons for skipping classes, the Law Faculty had originally wanted to deduct half of your credits as punishment. But…”
Teacher Maggie smiled.
Looking at Maggie’s smile, a bad feeling rose in Mike’s heart.
“Tomorrow, you will have to dress up as our Law Faculty’s mascot and walk in front of the squad!”
Before Maggie could finish, Mike spoke up.
“Teacher, can I not dress up?”
“Of course not!”
Maggie said with a faint smile.
“Oh right, Mike, aren’t you…”
Actually, the idea of letting Mike dress up as the mascot had come from Cisco.
Cisco wanted Mike to dress up as the mascot purely because he thought that Mike’s appearance could bring good luck to the entire Long-Range Magic Department.
Meanwhile, Maggie, who was sitting on the podium of the Law Faculty, smiled wickedly and muttered to herself.
“It looks like our Mage Class 2 will be famous today!”
The west gate of the trial arena was the Close Combat Faculty.
The symbol of the Close Combat Faculty was held up high by a tall and sturdy scholar.
Behind him was the new student team of the Close Combat Faculty.
Respectively, the Summoning Faculty and the Manufacturing Faculty were in the north and south.
The emblem representing the Summoning Faculty and the banner representing the Manufacturing Faculty were also being waved by the leading seniors and seniors respectively.
The freshmen team belonging to Hunter Academy had already arrived at the center of the arena.
In the center of the arena, there was a tall drum tower.
The principal of Hunter College and the deans of the respective four subordinate colleges were sitting on the drum tower.
The two high-quality hosts on the drum tower transmitted their voices through magic power.
“Welcome to this year’s freshmen trial assembly!
“We continue the tradition of the previous years. The top three of this year’s trial assembly will receive extremely generous rewards.
“And the top ten of the Academy’s internal strife will also receive a decent reward!”
“So, without further ado, let’s begin today’s competition!”
Before he could finish his sentence, in the middle of the four corners of the arena, a solid and vast arena rose up.
The four different colored arenas represented the four different faculties.
“Next, let’s bring out our tournament judges and jury teachers!”
In the audience stands, a few figures jumped into the middle of their respective academies’ arenas.
“On the first day of the freshmen trials, the internal battles within the faculties will now begin!”
The so-called internal battles within the academies were through the internal battles between students from different factions within the various academies. Using the points system, they would compete for the Top 10 positions within each academy.
These Top 10 positions would then represent their respective academies to participate in the faculty trials after the battles.
After continuous selections and eliminations, the Top 3 would finally be decided.
The referee standing in the blue ring announced loudly.
“The students whose names I have read out, please step forward.”
“…”
Two students from the Law Faculty walked out.
They represented the Long-Range and Close-Range Magic Department respectively.
The two on them stood on opposite corners of the ring as a gong sounded.
The battle then began.
The student representing the long-range spellcasters used a lightning strike to accurately strike the close-combat spellcaster student in front of him.
The close-combat spellcasters student used a palm fire.
A raging flame emerged from his palm.
After a few rounds of exchange, the long-range spellcaster student was defeated.
“First round… Win! One point.”
Mike stood below the ring and watched the simple matches.
A feeling of boredom welled up in his heart.
Despite this, suddenly, an untimely and violent shock was produced in Mike’s mind.
Mike held his head with difficulty.
At the moment, all he could feel was that his consciousness had gradually become empty.
Fortunately, this feeling only lasted for a short while.
After that, Mike finally came back to his senses and looked forward again.
Mike only felt that this kind of moves and movement technique was simply child’s play.
After a long wait, the referee finally called out his name.
“Long-Range Magic Department Mike, battle, Close-Combat Magic Department Trudy!”
Mike walked onto the stage, and a young man with colorful hair appeared in front of him.
The person who had come was Trudy.
“This battle will be interesting to watch. Trudy is the strongest freshman in the Close-Combat Magic Department!”
“Wow, Big Brother Mike is here too? The battle between two strong experts will be amazing.”
The audience below the stage cheered for their classmates.
On the stage, Trudy was the first to speak.
“I heard that you defeated Senior Blue from the Close Combat Faculty when you first entered the school?”
Mike nodded but did not say anything.
“Although his strength isn’t weak, it doesn’t mean that your strength is very strong. Today, I want to prove to you who the number one mage student is!”
The gong sounded and Trudy was the first to make a move.
He was holding an aquamarine short blade.
The short blade was embedded with the gem on the mage staff.
It seemed that this was Trudy’s weapon.
Trudy threw the short blade at Mike.
The moment it flew out, countless high-pressure water currents followed the direction of the dagger and attacked Mike.
Mike was not surprised and he easily dodged this seemingly fierce attack.
Trudy smiled and said.
“You’ve been fooled, you arrogant guy!”
