Chapter 1956 - Hammer of Atonement
Chapter 1956: Hammer of Atonement
Under Sky Moon’s command, everyone seemed to understand the Boss’ tactics and the design of the positions to counter it.
Lu Li would also sometimes check if there were any instructions missing.
There were some things, even if he didn’t know through rebirth, that could be observed.
This was his talent.
The process was long and painful, but eventually they managed to get through the second
Boss.
There were skill points awarded, none of which went to Lu Li.
There were also two Epic equips that dropped. The first was The Unbreakable Will, which was a single-handed sword for defensive professions. This was obviously given to Azure Sea Breeze and the weapon that had been replaced was given to someone else.
There was also the Golden Links of Restoration.
This was an item for Paladin healers. There weren’t any of those at the moment, but Lu Li planned to cultivate one. As a top-level team, you had to have players from any profession to be ready and on-call.
After defeating these two Bosses, they could finally switch up the positions. The struggle here had come to an end.
After helping Jaina and Saar, the footmen suddenly became arrogant.
Saar’s camp was on the other side, so it was quick to travel by horseback. There were also some herbs and minerals to harvest along the way. The quality of these materials was very good.
If they were a wild party or a gold collection unit, then the leader of the group might appoint someone to collect it and then distribute it for a few particular players, such as the person who commanded the fight or the player who found the Boss.
Of course, there were also some shameless leaders that would take all the loot for themselves.
Lu Li didn’t think much about this issue, as there were no players lacking in materials. They were all just thrown into the guild warehouse after being harvested and anyone who needed them could just take them from there.
Of course, the guild warehouse was divided into several grades. Players of various grades would correspond to warehouses of different grades. The First Clearing team had their exclusive warehouse. Square Root 3 would sometimes take some garbage from the First Clearing Team warehouse and place it into the first-rate warehouse. Many players would then rush to take those items.
The third Boss was called Kaz’rogal and was much less famous than the first two Bosses. However, as someone who was part of the third wave of attacks on Mount Hyjal, the strength of the Apocalypse Guard should not be underestimated.
The most important thing was that his drops were good.
There weren’t any Bosses that they could skip, as the Instance Dungeon told a complete story with the players acting like heroes trying to save the day.
Before facing the Boss, there was another wave of monsters.
This was a group of miscellaneous monsters which included all the variants that had previously appeared like Ghouls, Crypt Fiends, Banshees, Necromancers and Abominations. There were also Gargoyles and Frost Wyrms.
These two extra monsters were actually not that difficult to fight.
When the Gargoyle first appeared, its Flying status effect meant that melee players couldn’t attack them. However, if the Gargoyle’s first target ran out of its attack range, then it would land on the ground to chase the player and would not fly again.
If it remained airborne all the time, it would simply be too difficult to fight against.
The Frost Wyrm’s attack was Frost Breath, which was an area of effect skill. It would continually use this skill until it was defeated. In addition to Frost Damage, the target’s attack and movement speed would be reduced by 50% for 6 seconds.
Someone had to tank this monster and that player had to be healed continuously, otherwise, they would die very quickly.
Unlike the first and second Boss, where the mosnter waves just rushed out towards the players all at once, the battlefield here was quite expansive. As such, the Frost Wyrms and Gargoyles were flying everywhere.
These kinds of monsters couldn’t be dealt with alone.
As such, the Healers and Damage output players had to run around everywhere.
After the chaos ended, the Boss appeared.
Kaz’rogal was enormous and his skills were extraordinary. War Trample and Kaz’rogal’s Mark were two abilities that brought much sorrow to many teams.
War Trample was a skill cast periodically that dealt a lot of damage and stunned all players within 15 yards of the target location. Five seconds was plenty of time for the Boss to do anything it wanted. Fortunately, the Main Tank still maintained Aggro, otherwise, Kaz’rogal would definitely be remembered in history as the worst Boss to fight.
When all the melee players were stunned, it would rush into the ranged players. Surely, that would result in a massacre.
Despite that, his most powerful skill was not War Trample, but Kaz’rogal’s Mark, which was placed on all players and could not be Dispelled.
This Mark was completely ineffective on Warriors, Thieves and the Hunter’s pets. It drained 600 mana per second from the other players for 5 seconds, causing them to lose 3000 mana in total.
If the target ran out of mana while they still had the mark, the mark would explode and inflict 10213-11287 Shadow Damage to all members within 10-15 yards of that person.
When they got wiped, it would be because of this explosion.
“Big bro, I don’t even have 3000 mana!”
“Do you have 12000 HP then?”
“Nope Ծ‸Ծ”
“Get out!!!”
This meant the Boss had very high requirements for the players. Of course, even if you didn’t have 3000 mana or 12000 HP, you could still participate if your Shadow Resistance was high enough.
Therefore, you had to acquire an appropriate amount of Shadow Resistance equipment before fighting this Boss.
They also had to position themselves in a decentralized way, particularly the professions that did have enough mana.
Kaz’rogal would first use Kaz’rogal’s Mark 60 seconds after the start of the battle. The second time would be at 110 seconds, the third at 150 seconds, the fourth at 180 seconds, the fifth at 200 seconds and the sixth at 210 seconds...
In short, each cast of Kaz’rogal’s Mark would reduce its cooldown by 10 seconds.
If a battle lasted for more than three and a half minutes, Kaz’rogal would turn into a lunatic that would constantly cast the mark.
In fact, it meant that the time-frame they had for fighting this Boss was really short.
In order to prevent them from exhausting their mana too quickly, the players had to do anything they could to regenerate their mana.
However, they also had to cast their skills as soon as they came off cooldown, provided they had the mana for it.
This Boss just needed some planning and adjustment to be defeated.
Lu Li and the others only managed to defeat Kaz’rogal in the second week. They also quickly defeated the first two Bosses after their cooldowns reset. The only pity was that the Black Book didn’t drop the second time.
By the time they got to Kaz’rogal again, everyone was experienced enough that they managed to defeat him again in one go.
Lu Li didn’t know if they had achieved the First Clear on the third Boss, but the item that it dropped basically confirmed that they did.
There were four pieces of Epic equipment before them, so how could it not be a First Clear?
Black Featherlight Boots – Epic Leather Boots for Thieves.
Beast Tamer’s Shoulders – Epic Chain Mail Shoulderpads for Hunters.
Leggings of Channeled Elements – Epic Cloth pants for Magic professions.
The Hammer of Atonement – this was an Epic Paladin Healer hammer, which was perfect for Lu Li’s intention to train a new Paladin Healer in the guild.
Of course, it wasn’t that straightforward for Lu Li. Darkness had been part of the First Clearing and had been there the whole time.
As such, when she asked for the hammer, Lu Li had mixed feelings.
