The locks on Thrall were troublesome. Lu Li’s lock-picking skills were good, but they didn’t work on these kinds of locks.
At the same time, loud explosive noises sounded from outside; these were most likely the bomb caskets that had set off earlier than Lu Li had expected. Thrall’s cautiousness wasted some time and this lock was also a problem.
“Step back.”
Thrall thought Lu Li was skilled when he easily unlocked the cell, but who knew that this Thief would be so weak?
The loud noise outside led him to believe Lu Li and the others. Lu Li stepped back as he had been asked and Thrall picked up his chains that were linked to the wall and with a heavy pull, ripped them apart.
“Hurry, or else we’re gonna get surrounded,” Unforgettable Maple typed in the chat.
Lu Li and Hachi Chan brought Thrall with them to leave the dungeon and were met with a team of enemies led by Lieutenant Drake.
Lieutenant Drake was an ambitious soldier who had focused on his own glory during the second war. The size of his ambition was on par with his hate towards Tauren with green skin. These Tauren had killed too many of his subordinates and he channeled his hate into punishing the criminals in Durnholde.
Amongst all, Thrall hated Lieutenant Drake the most.
Countless of his own kind had died before him from the torture. Sometimes, even death was a luxury.
Without a second word, Thrall charged forward; it seemed like he was determined for a revenge. He was a Tauren after all and his blood boiled for battle just like the rest of them. This didn’t change just because he had studied some books.
“Gather towards me; let’s take down this boss first,” Lu Li said as he sent his coordinates to the others.
Everyone quickly gathered over; Lieutenant Drake didn’t have a lot of health but his attack damage was insane. Thrall had fifty thousand health points and half of it was lost from a few hits.
Fortunately, Lu Li’s teammates came just in time. Azure Sea Breeze rushed up first and taunted Lieutenant Drake while Hachi Chan kept casting recovery-type magic onto Thrall. NPCs could receive player healing under this kind of situation.
Lieutenant Drake’s attacks were truly powerful.
Azure Sea Breeze’s damage reduction wasn’t enough. He could even die if a few critical strikes landed consecutively.
“Don’t use too many taunt spells. If you can’t hold it anymore, let go of some aggro. It’s alright for Thrall to help us take a few hits.”
Although Lu Li hadn’t participated in this quest before or read the guide for it, he had common sense.
In many situations, it was important to utilize the NPC that came with them. This younger version of Thrall was a good example.
His health wasn’t much compared to the Boss, but it was a lot more than Azure Sea Breeze and his defense seemed quite decent.
Thrall took over the tanking position and his fists landed heavily on Lieutenant Drake. One by one, huge damage values popped up over the Boss and for a short span of time, he became the main damage output of the team.
Hachi Chan and March Rain healed him together.
A battle that was supposed to last for 20 minutes ended in 7-8 minutes. Durnholde was set ablaze and was thrown into confusion.
“Loot! Let’s go!” Lu Li shouted.
The situation seemed urgent; it would be troublesome if they kept running into Bosses.
“How can there only be one skill book?” Remnant Dream was in shock.
She had never failed to loot valuable things and she had never experienced such a horrible record. The skill book wasn’t even that great either; it was a common one.
However, everyone went silent at what Thrall did next.
He walked over and picked up the hammer that Lieutenant Drake was using, then stripped of the armor and wore it himself. He even took the little grey horse standing by the side that belonged to Lieutenant Drake.
An NPC was robbing equipment!
No wonder why the equipment didn’t drop; this was how they were meant to be obtained. However, anyone could tell that this was a privilege for an NPC like Thrall. A player couldn’t replicate this.
Thrall jumped onto the warhorse, which greatly improved the mobility of the team.
“Mr. Thrall, we’ll protect you on the way out,” Lu Li said as he summoned his mount to pave the way. Now that he had rescued Thrall, all he had to do was to escort him out.
The team had already studied the geography of the area, but of course, Thrall knew it better.
He had grown up here and he wasn’t as restricted as other slaves. He was familiar with everything in the area and was well aware of the patrols.
Led by Thrall, Lu Li and the others successfully approached the gates of the castle.
The attention of the patrols was drawn by the explosion and the confusion inside the castle, but they knew their jobs and none of them left them.
Lu Li had thought about going over the walls, but Thrall quickly changed their minds. Durnholde was a military castle with prisons and high walls, which already made the task difficult. The walls were also built with all sort of magic circles and the gate would be their only way out.
Lu Li was thinking of ways to silently pass through, but a few dragon-type monsters appeared before them. The Epoch Hunter was definitely here.
There were so many of them. Was there someone who could explain why these powerful creatures had to come in a pack?
After they engaged in battle, Lu Li then realized that these were just servants of the Epoch Hunter, possibly sent by the hunter himself to search for them. These monsters were average in strength and posed no challenge to the team.
The problem was that their battle had caught the attention of the nearby patrols, and a pack of them had blocked the main gate even before Lu Li and the others finished off these Epoch Hunter servants.
Captain Skarloc!
It seemed like they had run into another Boss, so Lu Li had to order everyone to charge straight ahead.
They had to rush out before these sentries closed up the gates, or else they would be trapped inside.
Thrall had also told them that once an accident occurred in Durnhold, the nearby camps of soldiers would all rush over to reinforce within the shortest timespan.
Captain Skarloc was loyal to Blackmoore, along with his best friend Lord Aliden Perenolde.
He became the most trusted companion and advisor for Blackmoore and won himself the title of ‘Blackmoore’s Spear’.
“You’ll pay for your choices!”
He had brought about 20-30 men with him and blocked the way in front of Lu Li and the others. His eyes were filled with rage and arrogance, because in his opinion, this was a group of humans rescuing a Tauren, a lowly slave!
