Chapter 957 - The Top Performer Amongst the Special Forces
He was a new actor without much fame. He had gone through a lot of hardship for the sake of this movie. It was after much effort that he could get to where he was, being able to take part in this movie, yet he suffered such a severe injury when things were just starting! This directly affected the filming progress, and he was afraid that the director would have him switched out!
“You can feel it for yourself to see if it’s serious or not…” The doctor’s expression was calm and lofty.
The director was frowning tightly. With the actor being hurt, he couldn’t possibly let him continue forcibly.
It wasn’t as if the director hadn’t expected such a situation at the very beginning. After all, this was an action movie!
The mistake was the tight funding when they were at the earlier stages of filming. As such, the director hadn’t considered assigning stunt doubles to learn the complete set of actions together!
If a wealthy merchant like Fu Huai’an had sponsored them all along, the director wouldn’t be so troubled!
The director chewed on his fingernails, pat the male lead’s shoulder, and said, “Have a good rest!”
The male lead didn’t understand what the director meant when he told him to rest, and his countenance turned a little pale…
It hadn’t been that long since they started filming. There was plenty of time for them to change to another male lead!
“Director! I…” The male lead wanted to stand up when the director pushed him back onto the seat.
“Have a good rest!” The director patted his shoulder again.
The male lead’s hands grabbed onto the chair’s armrests tightly. As he looked at the director, vice-director, and screenwriter getting together for a discussion with solemn expressions, he felt increasingly insecure.
In the distance, Cen Mo looked at Tuan Tuan, who was sitting on Fu Huai’an’s lap and eating snacks. He squinted his eyes and propped up two fingers, gesturing to Saihand, who was behind him.
Saihand bent over and put his ear next to Cen Mo. Cen Mo said into his ear, “Go and tell the director that Mr. Fu over here… was once a top performer in the special forces! Those low-class actions are nothing to him.”
Saihand had investigated information about Fu Huai’an before and knew about this. It was just that he didn’t understand why Cen Mo wanted him to tell the director this.
“Go on! You aren’t listening to my orders?” Cen Mo turned and looked at Saihand.
“Yes, Sir, I’ll go right away!”
Cen Mo only turned to look in Tuan Tuan’s direction after hearing Saihand’s reply…
Song Yao was talking to Lin Nuan. As long as Fu Huai’an was gone, Cen Mo would have the opportunity to get closer to Tuan Tuan. The reason Cen Mo got Saihand to tell the director those things was so that he would ask Fu Huai’an for help!
Thinking that Fu Huai’an would be going to help out in a while and that he’d have time to play with Tuan Tuan, Cen Mo immediately felt a lot better. He couldn’t hold back the smile on his face.
After Saihand followed Cen Mo’s instructions and passed on those words to the director, the director subconsciously looked toward Fu Huai’an…
The director was a little surprised and was also feeling a bit torn. He passed Saihand a cigarette, and the latter quickly waved his hand to say that he didn’t smoke.
The director got closer to Saihand and asked, “This is what Mr. Fu told you to come and tell me?”
If Fu Huai’an had sent someone to tell him this, the director couldn’t help but guess… that Fu Huai’an wanted to be in the movie!
The director’s mind was blown. He felt that it was just someone rich who was bored and wanted to act for fun!
However, he was a new director, and he couldn’t afford to take any risks!
The director held a lot of hopes for this movie, hoping to get an award or something.
However, Fu Huai’an was a prominent investor, and he couldn’t afford to offend him…
If Fu Huai’an really wished to be in the movie, the director would be torn!
Either he’d want money and not integrity or hope!
Or, he’d keep his integrity and, holding onto the last strand of hope that Fu Huai’an wouldn’t pull out his investment, go and have a good talk with Fu Huai’an.
Saihand was honest and said, “This is what my sir told me to tell you. Mr. Fu shouldn’t know about this.”
The director heaved out a long exhale and nodded. “Thanks!”
But, if a small director like him were to ask their biggest investor, Mr. Fu… could you please be our male lead’s stunt double, wouldn’t he be asking for a beating?
Therefore, the director just dismissed the thought. Even if Fu Huai’an really was the top performer in the special forces in the past, he didn’t dare to ask Fu Huai’an to act as a stunt double!
At the same time, the director had no intention of replacing the male lead that he had picked out.
The director sat back down in his chair, frowning as he lit up a cigarette. He pulled at his hair in annoyance.
“Director!” The vice-director sat down beside him. “I heard what that man said earlier. Why don’t we try and ask Mr. Fu for his help? Or maybe we can bring this up with Lin Nuan and let her ask Mr. Fu. Mr. Fu might just be willing to help out. What do you think?”
When the director heard this, he turned and looked toward the group with Lin Nuan, Fu Huai’an, Song Yao, and Cen Mo. They were seated in the distance, in front of the car, and were under a big umbrella. He puffed out a mouthful of smoke, then turned back, frowning even more tightly.
“Director, we should give it a try regardless of whether it works or not. It’s better than us sitting here and being unable to resolve this issue! What do you think?” The vice-director continued to say, “If you feel that you can’t get yourself to say this, then I’ll go! We can’t just let such a big production crew stay here like this… It’s a waste of time and money!”
After a very long time, the director finished his cigarette. He threw the cigarette butt onto the ground, putting it out by stepping on it. He then picked up his phone, which was placed next to the monitor, put it in his pocket, and said, “I’ll go look for Mr. Fu…”
The vice-director quickly nodded. “Then, do you want me to go and get the other three vice-directors to go along with you?”
“No need!” After the director put the phone in his pocket, he took out his cigarettes and lighter, placing them down. “It’s not as if the chances will be higher if more people get involved! It’ll be fine for just me to go!”
…
Song Yao was holding onto a cup of milk. When she saw the director coming over in a jeep, she bumped Lin Nuan’s arm with her elbow. “Hey, the director is coming over! He might be announcing that your movie will have to be delayed!”
Lin Nuan and Song Yao had already heard about the male lead’s injury from Mu Taotao earlier. The doctor said that he’d need a week before he could walk, which meant that the filming would need to be postponed for at least two to three weeks, perhaps even a month.
This was a movie, not a television series. Every scene required perfection to the greatest extent possible and must not be skimped on…
Otherwise, after the movie was released, there’d be a lot of curses about it. Every movie was a director’s child. Who would want their child to be scolded?
Therefore, during such situations, the director would tend to choose to postpone the filming and then return to it after the main lead had recovered!
Or, since the filming had just started, and given that the main actor didn’t have much of a reputation, they could have him switched out.
Or, they could shoot the scenes that didn’t involve the main lead first…
However, even if they were to film the scenes without the main lead first, every actor and actress had their own schedules. If they were delayed for a week, it’d be unclear whether their schedules would be able to agree for them to film with the main lead later on!
