Chapter 11 - Calm Before The Storm

Chapter 11 - Calm Before The Storm

Xiu Mei almost had a heart attack after hearing what Lu Qiang called her.

Scenarios played inside her head, imagining on how many ways would her emperor CEO would kill her.

Behead her?

Shoot her?

Torture her?

She lightly touched her neck. Would her head fly off thinking that she manipulated his son to call her mom?

Xiu Mei had a strong urge to bury her face on her hands. Gawd, her life will be over if she doesn’t fix this problem.

"Little Qiang, let’s sit down first." She pulled the little kid onto the table and sat him on one of the chairs. She sat at the chair beside him before talking it out with him.

"You must’ve been really tired from yesterday. I think you’re still a bit sleepy." She rubbed his head lightly.

Instead of correcting his previous words, Lu Qiang just shook his head. "You’re mom."

Xiu Mei’s smile turned stiff.

"I’m your big sister."

"Mom."

Xiu Mei blinked with the stubbornness of Lu Qiang. She didn’t know what to do on how to convince him to stop calling her mom without hurting his feelings.

Her attention was then caught when her phone buzzed to life. Grabbing her phone, she stood up and went back to the kitchen to grab another glass. She answered her phone by sandwiching it between her head and shoulder.

"Hello?"

"This is Lu Shao."

"Yes, what is it?"

"Mr.Lu said that he’ll have someone to pick you all up from there. The driver would just then drop you off here at the office."

Xiu Mei dutifully placed filled the glasses with water after placing it in front of Lu Qiang who had started eating his breakfast. It looked like he liked what she cooked for breakfast and the problem she was having awhile ago instantly vanished in her mind.

"Got it. Thanks."

Hanging up the call, she ate with the little kid. The both of them took their time and enjoyed their breakfast before dressing up into a more presentable clothes.

An hour later, Xiu Mei held the kid in one hand as she want out of her apartment. There, she saw a black car with a driver standing guard just beside it. He was looking at their direction and instantly, she understood that it was the driver that was sent by the emperor CEO to pick them up.

She urged Lu Qiang to greet him good morning before climbing up the car. She greeted him too before she followed behind the little kid at the back seat of the car.

The two of them parted ways when she arrived at the company. Though, she left him her phone number in case little Qiang wants to play with her again. After all, she has a soft spot for little kids.

It was a week later when she met Lu Qiang again.

It was one of the busiest day in the company. There were a lot of things being coordinated with different departments during their transition period. Some teams were being trained to be sent out to the field and some had been held in the office for quite some time due to the workload.

As such, Lu Shao and Xiu Mei were also pulling a lot of overtimes due to this.

Xiu Mei was in the midst of reading an important file when Lu Chen arrived at his office. She stood up to greet him when she stopped realizing the current mood her boss was in. Lu Shao was also frozen stiff on his tracks when he saw his boss.

"G-good morning, Mr.Lu." The both of them greeted him with a nervous voice.

Lu Chen on the other hand continued walking to his office, acting like he didn’t even notice the presence of his secretaries.

"What happened?" Xiu Mei mouthed at Lu Shao who was at the opposite table.

Lu Shao shrugged indicating that he was also clueless why the boss was in a bad mood.

The both of them got even more worried for what lies ahead. Everytime Lu Chen was in a bad mood, he always snaps at the lightest mistake and everyone gets a good earful of scoldings afterwards. He tends to get pickier and he would even lock himself up in his office for more than a whole day.

Hence, it was the worst news ever at the worst time possible.

Every employee in the company were at the edge due to this emperor CEO of theirs.

"Xiu Mei."

Xiu Mei’s focus snapped when she heard someone call her name. Her head turned to her telephone that was blinking indicating that someone had paged her. She automatically stood up from her seat and fixed the creases on her clothes before knocking on the door to indicate her entry.

Inside, she saw a table with piled up folders and Lu Chen who was sitting with his back in front of her.

"What assistance did you need, Mr.Lu?" She asked.

Lu Chen slowly turned his seat to face his secretary. He didn’t answer her question as he examined his secretary from her feet up to her face.

Sensing that examining gaze, Xiu Mei felt even more nervous.

It was a minute later when Lu Chen finally spoke.

"How was the blind date?"

Xui Mei’s brows furrowed with confusion. Why was her boss asking her about her blind date last weekend? And why is he addressing it only right now?
