Chapter 116 Reaching Star City, The City Building Scroll
An announcement rang in front of every player, but they weren\'t surprised this time.
It had been a while since the previous one, obviously, but even then, it was also FateBreaker who discovered [Bell City], and they knew just how strong he was.
But on the other hand, many others were jealous of his success.
"That stupid bitch," Daniel bit his nails out of frustration, reading the announcement that appeared in the forum in real world, "I\'m going to teach him a motherfucking lesson..."
Daniel was so mad in fact that he had tried to find Alex\'s whereabouts in the real world, but with no success in that either.
He could trace his location up to his previous apartment, but after that nothing.
But anyway, even if he did come, Alex still had the [Death Call], able to eliminate all the intruders with an otherworldly entity.
Even guns wouldn\'t work on that thing.
"The Thunder Family won\'t allow such disrespect," Daniel shouted, slamming his fist into the desk.
A few seconds later, the door of his luxurious chamber opened up, and just like before, Daniel\'s sister, Aurelia Thunder, emerged from it.

"Can you shut up for a few seconds?" she asked, clearly irritated.
"You wouldn\'t understand, Aurelia," Daniel chuckled, shrugging and shaking his head, "Someone like you just can\'t!"
"If it\'s about that stupid game of yours, then just get better at it!"
And she wasn\'t saying that just to piss him off.
In fact, Aurelia was at a higher level than Daniel inside of [Universal Descent], playing the game a lot too.
Well, everyone who was a [Beta Tester] was playing the game, to be honest.
They were both from a martial arts family, heavily trained for combat, and that knowledge, paired with her assassin class, allowed Aurelia to advance fast.
She couldn\'t understand why her brother selected the [Mage] class, but all he told her was that his talent was related to it.
But even after the second batch of beta testers was issued, their father still wasn\'t selected as a player.
"Listen, kids," he informed them at the start, "This game\'s going to be important, and we\'re probably going to have to be careful of the other families, or maybe ally with some others, so try your best!"
"Yes, father!" Aurelia nodded.
"..." but Daniel remained silent.
Worse of all, the exact day the amount of players increased to 100 million, several other powerful families like the [Black Flame Family] and [Garden Family] contacted them.
"My son has been selected as a player" or "We would like to see if your kids are interested in an alliance" were common messages they received.
But Mike Thunder refused all of it, stating that he didn\'t want to do that yet.
Aurelia remained solo, while Daniel created his guild.
"I\'m going to murder you, FateBreaker..."
He opened up his [Guild Chat], eyeing the most recent messages from Vex, his second-in-hand.
[We\'ve got the "City Building Scroll" from my tier 3 advancement task, all that is left to do is to find an appropriate place, and our guild will grow far stronger.]
After a few weeks of fighting, recruiting new members, and upgrading their buildings, now in Bell City, the [Overlord] guild had finally acquired what they needed to advance even further: a [City Building Scroll].
[You can use this scroll on one of the abandoned cities scattered throughout Universal Descent to claim it as your own, or simply on an available plot of land to create one from scratch.]
[Upon usage of this scroll, an altar will appear at the heart of your city, protect it at all costs as destroying it will result in your city falling apart.]
[After claiming a city using the scroll, you will have to face a trial: defend your city for 24 hours against hordes of monsters, as well as players that wish to stop you.]
[If you manage to defend the city, you will receive a rating based on how well you and its inhabitants have done, rewards will be given accordingly, and your city will be established.]
"With this," Daniel laughed, "No chance anyone ever tries to stand in my way..."
Many of the other families in the real world were already forming plans to create their very own cities, since the simple action of having a [Guild] is not enough.
And what\'s best: upon acquiring a city, you not only control it and choose its name, but you can also upgrade it and allow whoever you want to access it.
Basically, it was an immense privilege that many would love to have.
Every city starts at level 1, but upon upgrading the altar and thus its defenses, it will also level up.
Upon reaching level 5, you can evolve it to become an [Empire].
That was Daniel\'s plan, thus not only creating the [Overlord] empire, but also one for the Thunder family.
Soon enough, all the other families would come to beg for his help.
"Perfect," he laughed out loud, "Absolutely perfect!"
[Vex: There are no abandoned cities nearby, that I believe that as the map grows and we access the next area, they will become available.]
[MartialMage: Very good, make sure to keep all of this a secret as we not have idea what that "City Trial" or "Monster Attack" are.]
[Vex: Very well.]
And so with that, Daniel felt a little more confident in his powers.
Because there were more benefits to creating a city, some he knew off, and some he didn\'t.
...
Back to Alex, he finally reached [Star City]\'s entrance.
As said before, it is the biggest and most powerful one yet, being a level 3 city and all of that.
[Star City Guard - Level 200]
Even the guards were level 200, twice the level of the average player that would come here.
But Alex wasn\'t interested in them, in fact, he didn\'t care much about the city in itself.
The reason why he was so excited was because of two things:
First, the area around Star City was the biggest one of the map yet, stretching for hundreds of kilometers on end, with several areas and realms to explore.
Until now, even around Dawn City and Bell City was simply the "tutorial", per se, as the area around them wasn\'t that big.
In Dawn City, people had just emerged from their [Novice Villages], and so the [Undead Temple] as well as the [Toxic Forest Event] guided them to the next part.
In Bell City, it became a bit harder for players, but it was also just as obvious that the [Dark Dungeon] was the main place to fight.
But around Star City, it was big, very big.
Meaning it was the true point of the game where players could actually start exploring the map for real.
Of course, just like every previous city, it was delimited by another place: the [Mystical Forest], a level 250 area.
But until then, players had more than enough ground around them to do whatever they wanted.
And the second thing Alex was excited about was...
"Here it is," he looked up, smiling, it was still just as big and luxurious as always, the massive building stretching for kilometers inside the city.
It was the main attraction of [Star City] and its most important characteristic: [Golden Star Academy].
