Zhong Yue opened his eyes wide and stared into the light beam. He was afraid that the tears would sneakily escape his eyes.
The Fuxi Clan’s greatest monarch was no more, his soul had entered to the Void World seeking asylum; but now, he was back, having returned from the Void World to fight for the one last time!
Dead, and yet, still fighting!
Such an unyielding spirit, perhaps this was the spirit of the Fuxi Clan that the world knew?
But the outcome of the battle was destined from the start. The evil presence was unboundedly strong, his alliances were numerous and each was a powerful enemy themselves. The forces that stood by his side were unstoppable!
Their faces were either shrouded in darkness or covered, they clearly didn’t want their identities to be exposed.
When the Heavenly Monarch was alive, they didn’t dare to utter a single word of dissent toward him, but after the Heavenly Monarch died, they had lost all restraint!
The battle was aimed to execute the main forces of the Fuxi Clan; those that could be part of the Heavenly Monarch’s funeral procession were those that the Heavenly Monarch valued most.
If they were dead, the Fuxi Clan would be faced with a severe issue—the lack of talents for the next few thousand years, and the loss of their cultivation heritage!
But the Fuxi Clan’s Heavenly Monarch had aged greatly. He once suppressed the whole era on his own; he was the strongest, greatest and most talented leader the world had ever seen!
Legends said that Fuxi created the Six Paths and Hou Tu completed the Reincarnations. And that Fuxi was him!
But his mortal body couldn’t beat father time. Zhong Yue had seen many aged gods, their worn out mortal body could no longer contain their arcane energy and life essence. It would slowly seep out of their body, and the cultivation base they had all worked on for all their lives would slowly return back to the universe.
No matter what, death was inevitable.
No one could ever remain at their peak while they were alive, let alone when they were already dead.
Fuxi fueled his power with his own soul, but even so, it still couldn’t match his power during his prime.
The greatest presence made his way back to the world of the living, but what was destined couldn’t be rewritten.
He was no longer the Heavenly Monarch, but just a wizened old man, a timeworn soul.
In the battle, not a single Fuxi took a step back, not a single Fuxi had fallen elsewhere other than around the Heavenly Monarch’s coffin. One by one, the Fuxi, the god of wars were put to sleep.
Zhong Yue couldn’t stand the scene anymore. Those were his ancestors warring and bleeding for the fate of their descendants.
Finally, the cries of battle slowly ceased. Even the dead Heavenly Monarch couldn’t have changed anything. At his last moment, he ignited his soul and spirit and turned it into the last sword strike.
That sword strike lit up the whole universe. becoming the strongest sword in the history of time.
The evil presence suffered severe damage, and the endless darkness ebbed away.
“That’ll stop you for a thousand years, at the least.” The aged Heavenly Monarch hovered above his coffin, supporting himself with the divine sword while he put up a gentle smile on his face.
Then, his mortal body began disintegrating into lights, and his soul dispersed. Even the divine sword in his hands faded away like light particles.
Soon, within a matter of seconds, he would no longer leave a single trace in this world anymore.
“I hope, in these thousand years, one of our children may rise and lead the Fuxi Clan to greatness again…”
His mortal body and soul had completely disappeared and the coffin shattered into pieces, leaving only his hoarse voice lingering in the air.
In the end, the last Fuxi Clan’s Heavenly Monarch couldn’t end up buried in the clan’s ancestral land.
Zhong Yue stood numbly on the bow, his tears were all dried up. Although the last Fuxi Heavenly Monarch had bought a thousand years of time for the clan, no single Fuxi descendants were able to grow powerful enough to save the clan from domination.
The Fuxi Clan still waned.
At the end of the scenes, the evil presence walked out from the Pan Gu Celestial Being’s forehead of the first Six Paths World. Seizing the time when Reincarnation Monarch has passed away, the evil presence blood sacrificed the living beings in the first Six Paths World and marked the end of the Earth Order Era.
“Strange, why did the scenes of the ancient days of 100 thousand years ago reappear?” Heavenly King Shang mumbled.
The teleportation light beam on the Imperial Road of the Heavenly Monarch dimmed down, and the ancient ships grew shabby again as if they were returning back to the flow of time.
The ancient battle was so intense it left an indelible mark in the teleportation beam. And for some unknown reason, the mark in the teleportation beam was triggered and shown the scenes of the battle 100 thousand years ago.
“Look! Look!” One of the eight generals, Tian Yan, suddenly shouted, “What is that!?”
The crowd looked over and saw in the midst of the fading teleportation beam, a strange ball of light remained blindingly bright.
“What is it?”
All of them looked over, even Heavenly King Shang struggled to open his eyes to take a look at the light ball’s nature.
But to his surprise, even a celestial emperor like him failed to see through it. Not only him, but Tian Yan who was said to have the best pair of eyes in the whole of Wei Shen Six Paths World couldn’t glean anything either.
However, there was one thing for sure—it was getting closer to them, and it was fast. Seconds before, it was just a small dot in their vision, but now it was much bigger like a ball.
Heavenly King Shang suddenly felt uneasy, he quickly shouted, “Raise the flags, quickly! We will leave this place now!”
The gods quickly powered the ships and sped away!
Meanwhile, on the back, the blinding light caught up to the ships and shone through their bodies.
All of a sudden, they found the ships and themselves turning translucent, as if they were disintegrated into little particles!
Not only their bodies, but their Yuan Shen, the arcane energy, soul weapons, divine weapons, and everything else was also the same!
Everything around was broken down into the smallest atoms, and were dispersing to the surrounding.
Even Heavenly King Shang was feeling terrified. Although he was a Deity Emperor, he was no exception to the bizarre changes!
“It’s the residual power of the sword skill!” Heavenly King Shang screamed in terror.
It was the sword skill slashed by the last Fuxi Heavenly Monarch before his death. Said to be the sword of destruction, it could break everything in front of it into nothingness. If they were hit by the sword skill’s remaining power that still lingered in this place, none of them would leave a trace in this world anymore!
Heavenly King Shang roared, he surged all of his arcane energy to power the ship and boosted faraway from the light rays. However, his efforts were in vain as even though he was fast, the light ball was faster. It had caught up to them in just less than a breath’s time.
The light blinded their visions, and they could clearly feel their bodies disintegrating to the smallest particles!
The huge light ball swallowed the fleet of ships, and silence repleted the space.
It was dead quiet.
Then, the light ball abruptly disappeared, the fleet of ships reappeared again, and everyone was stunned. A few moments later, some of the gods managed to recollect their thoughts. Some of them were gasping for breath, some were shivering in terror, and some others collapsed on the ground. But nevertheless, all of them felt immensely lucky to still be alive.
Heavenly King Shang was also shivering, he wanted to speak and comfort the others but his muscles were out of his control. He couldn’t even speak a word. Even his Yuan Shen was shuddering violently on the verge of dispersing.
Even the Deity Emperor in the fleet was in bad shape, let alone the others.
But they couldn’t be blamed; after all, the encounter with the blinding light ball was far too terrifying.
Zhong Yue gathered his senses back from the terror. Suddenly, he sensed a strange aura appearing inside his Yuan Shen secret realms.
“Xin Huo!” Zhong Yue’s Yuan Shen was shivering as he said, “Xin Huo, the light ball…”
Xin Huo quickly entered his Yuan Shen secret realms, and there in the Dao Yi Secret Realm, the same light ball that was chasing after them was hovering peacefully beside Zhong Yue’s Pan Gu Celestial Being.
“The light ball, something is in it…” Xin Huo stared at it and mumbled puzzlingly, “A sword hilt?”
Inside the light ball, laid a divine sword’s sword hilt, it’s body was missing and the blinding light that terrified thousands of gods was in fact, shining out from the sword hilt.
“Sword hilt?” Zhong Yue was puzzled. He looked at the sword hilt and he exclaimed in shock, “This sword hilt, could it be…”
“It is.” Xin Huo nodded, hovering around the light ball as he carefully examined it, he continued, “The old Heavenly Monarch’s divine sword didn’t fully disintegrate. Its sword hilt was left behind, and it must have sensed the Fuxi blood in you, that’s why it chased over and terrified the gods. Seems like only Si Ming and you are the remaining members of the Fuxi Clan.”
He said despondently, “Else, it wouldn’t be that you are the only Fuxi that has traveled on this Imperial Road of the Heavenly Monarch for the past 100 thousand years…”
The imperial sword’s hilt was here all along, waiting for a Fuxi to pass by and collect it. But a hundred thousand years had passed since, and Zhong Yue was the only one that has been here. Only then, it sensed Zhong Yue’s Fuxi blood and rushed over.
Although left with just a hilt, the imperial sword was still incredibly powerful. For when it flew out of the Imperial Road of the Heavenly Monarch, it triggered the mark of the battle in it and that’s why Zhong Yue and the others were able to see the battle.
“It has chosen you, perhaps it’s because you are the only Fuxi that has ever passed by this place,” Xin Huo concluded.
The only Fuxi…
Zhong Yue’s heart grew heavy. He was the only Fuxi that had been here for the past 100 thousand years, and what was even more depressing was the fact that he was not even a pureblooded Fuxi, but one who has only awakened 35% of the Fuxi blood.
“Although this imperial sword only had its hilt left, it still shouldn’t be underestimated. After all, this is the imperial sword of the Heavenly Monarch who had created the Six Paths Reincarnation. It represented the highest ruling power of the Fuxi Celestial Race.”
Xin Huo said, “The last Fuxi Heavenly Monarch’s sword hilt is in your hands, I wonder if it’s a good thing for you.”
It was the imperial sword hilt to the last Fuxi Heavenly Monarch. For it to be in Zhong Yue’s hands, Xin Huo saw it as an event filled with deep meanings. However at the same time, it would be an overbearing responsibility to the current Zhong Yue, placing him at an even greater risk.
As Xin Huo didn’t actually take Zhong Yue as the Xin Huo inheritor due to him not being pure-blooded; Xin Huo saw Zhong Yue as a friend, one that he couldn’t stand to see bear the overwhelming responsibility of reviving an entire race.
“Maybe… we should throw the sword hilt away,” Xin Huo abruptly voiced.
Zhong Yue shook his head in disagreement. It mustn’t be lost anymore, this was the only legacy the last Fuxi Heavenly Monarch has left behind, how could he ever throw it away?
It was gifted to him by the late Heavenly Monarch from a hundred thousand years ago. Since it has chosen him, he would keep it safe and secure!
Somehow, Zhong Yue felt like bursting into tears. The late headmaster Feng Shang chose Jun Sixie as the next Swords Gate headmaster, not him; the Human Sovereign far in the Zi Wei Galaxy chose Gongsun Xuanyuan as the next Human Sovereign, not him.
Then, Xin Huo again also chose to stubbornly wait for a pureblood Fuxi as the next Xin Huo inheritor. Everywhere Zhong Yue went, he was faced with rejections.
Yet now, a sword whose body was left with only a hilt had finally chosen him!
A sense of vindication filled his heart, it was the greatest feeling of being accepted as part of the family, as one of the Fuxi. All of the years he had lived, of all the things he has been through, he had never this satisfied before.
“Fuxi… I, am a Fuxi!” He raised his head high with pride radiating across his face.
