Chapter 340: 338

It wasn’t long before Bi Fang made a discovery while walking along the wall.

He found a clump of a bird’s nest in a corner.

Bi Fang nearly sprinted over and then quickly waved at the drone, looking very excited.

“Come quickly, look, in this nest, there are pigeon eggs!”

The Shuiyou’s spirits were lifted, the drone sped up its flight and immediately arrived beside Bi Fang.

Inside an oval bird’s nest, several milky-white eggs shone brilliantly in the sunset’s glow, looking very tempting.

Bi Fang reached in and turned them over, but found that although there seemed to be many eggs, some were empty, with only two being solid.

“These must be leftovers from before, these two were just laid. My goodness, I even feel these eggs are warm.”

After rummaging through the bird’s eggs, Bi Fang held the two pigeon eggs in his hands, brimming with excitement. The pigeon eggs were not small at all; in fact, they were comparable to some small chicken eggs.

Bi Fang pulled out a water bottle from his backpack and began to wash them on the spot.

“Theoretically, all bird eggs are edible raw, as long as they don’t smell off. Of course, unless you’re really in a bind, it’s usually better not to eat bird eggs casually, unless you can confirm they’re not from any rare animals. Just like I know these are pigeon eggs, so there’s no problem.”

Having wet the eggs and cleaned their surfaces, Bi Fang couldn’t wait any longer. He put one into his mouth, in front of everyone, and crushed it, letting the egg liquid slide out before stuffing the shell into his mouth and chewing vigorously.

Pigeon eggshells are much thinner than chicken eggshells and eating them doesn’t feel odd; instead, there is a sandy crunch.

The Shuiyou could only hear a crisp sound, as if he were chewing crackers.

After swallowing the entire egg, Bi Fang drank two gulps of water and swallowed, a sense of satisfaction naturally arising.

“This experience of adventuring and then gaining a reward is truly extraordinary, like studying hard for a month and finally getting first place in the class, very satisfying. And the pigeon egg was great too, a bit fishy, but I was mentally prepared for it, so it wasn’t so hard to accept.

This must be the most nutritious and delicious thing I’ve eaten so far. When your body is in a state of energy depletion, eating a bird egg, even if it doesn’t taste great, the feedback from your body is fantastic,

Although I’m not actually very hungry since I ate more than half a fox at noon, the nutritional intake is definitely imbalanced. But the bird egg provides me with a very comprehensive range of nutrients any egg would offer.”

Bi Fang let out a satisfied burp, clearly very content, a sight that left the viewers quite envious.

[Damn, watching this is making me hungry]

[Standing in front of the fridge with a raw chicken egg in my hand]

[Put it down, this isn’t something humans should eat!]

[Back when I was working out, I used to down five raw chicken eggs a day]

[Wow, brother, that’s hardcore. I can’t even stand the smell, barely eat fried eggs]

After eating one bird egg, Bi Fang took out another horizontally. It was a large bottle, similar to a sports drink, also filled with water.

Bi Fang opened the bottle, poured out all the water, then stuffed the pigeon egg inside, secured the cap, and carefully placed it into his backpack.

“Since I’m not very hungry right now, I’ll save the egg to eat tomorrow. Putting it in the bottle helps to avoid it getting crushed. Of course, even if it gets crushed, we can still eat it to avoid waste.”

[Ah, I feel like you didn’t have to dump the water, keeping the egg in the water would make it less likely to spoil, right?]

Some viewers were puzzled by the scene of Bi Fang emptying the water bottle, but Bi Fang shook his head in response.

“That won’t work. Most eggs are the same, they can’t be stored in water as they’ll easily spoil. Some people find the eggs they buy too dirty and wash them with water before storing them. This is incorrect, as it damages the nutritional value of the eggs and could even cause the eggs to spoil.”

Bi Fang picked up another broken eggshell from the nest to show everyone.

“Look, there is actually a layer of ‘bloom’ on the outside of bird eggshells, which seals the pores on the shell. It not only prevents bacteria from entering the egg but also stops the evaporation of moisture inside, keeping the egg fluid fresh.

When you wash the eggs, the ‘bloom’ comes off, allowing bacteria to invade and moisture to evaporate, causing the egg to spoil. So, eggs that need to be preserved shouldn’t be washed, and definitely should not be kept in water.”

[A little knowledge for daily life!]

[Wow, learned something new again.]

[Follow Master Fang and learn new things every day!]

“Let’s quickly look for more bird eggs in other corners while it’s not completely dark yet,” I said.

Packing away the plastic bottle, Bi Fang continued searching the walls for any missed bird eggs.

The factory was so large, there couldn’t possibly be just one bird’s nest.

Sure enough, before the sky had turned completely dark, Bi Fang, after making a full round, successfully found three more nests, harvesting five pigeon eggs in total.

Six eggs lying in the bottle, filling it to the brim, it was a sight that filled one with satisfaction.

Just these few eggs could sustain a person for a day if used sparingly.

“I really made the right choice coming to this steel factory; the haul is more than what I got in the past two days combined. If I’m careful, I might not even need to look for food for the next few days!

Alright, now it’s time to head back to the ground level.”

Bi Fang dusted off his hands and took out a flashlight from his bag, retracing his steps along the wall.

“Earlier, as I walked along the wall, I found a platform that seems to be a balcony. We’ll go there and see if we can find a way back. Luckily we have a flashlight; walking in the dark in these conditions would be too dangerous. But remember, we must shine the flashlight down at the ground, just at your feet, and never into the distance,” I instructed.

This statement confused most of the audience, wondering why the light could only shine at the feet.

[Why?]

[Why can’t we shine it into the distance?]

“Because this is Yemen,” I explained.

Bi Fang held the flashlight close to the glass and located the terrace outside the window. He turned off the flashlight and pointed towards the residential building in the distance: “What do you think would happen if a flashlight suddenly lit up in that residential building? In other words, if you were in a city reduced to ruins and suddenly saw signs of human activity, what would you do?”

[Of course, I would go towards it, I’ve found the group!]

No sooner had these words been sent than the online friend who typed the message paused, suddenly remembering the scene that had unfolded when Bi Fang had first arrived here.

Could they really approach it?

Not only should they not approach, but they should also prevent others from approaching.

“Even in extreme hardship, we must not easily trust others, or we may end up in a fate worse than death!”

[It’s like the dark forest law!]

Bi Fang pulled an anti-riot helmet from his bag and smashed it against the window glass, breaking all of it until there was enough room for him to get through.

Once on the terrace, Bi Fang made a round and actually found a way back.

Looking at the charred wooden door in front of him, Bi Fang squeezed the handle, and as expected, it was locked.

“Good thing it’s a wooden door. These single-layer wooden doors aren’t actually that sturdy; we can try to break it down.”

A minute later, Bi Fang charged like a cannonball and burst through the locked wooden door. His quick reflexes allowed him to catch the doorknob just in time to stop himself.

Looking down at the sheer drop of six or seven stories at his feet, Bi Fang’s back was almost soaked with cold sweat.

He had almost stepped into nothingness!

Wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, Bi Fang was still shaken, “I didn’t expect it to be hollow.”

No sooner had he spoken than faint footsteps came from below. Bi Fang’s ears perked up, and his expression instantly froze.

Someone was coming!
