Chapter 76: Inheritance
He used as much mana as he could possibly put in and stabbed the serpent.
Using such a technique with a silver grade weapon was dangerous as they could only channel so much mana but he was desperate.
He stabbed the sword as deep as possible into the serpent and with a sudden burst of power he managed to slay it.
With a maxed out affinity combined with Radiant blessing his damage was buffed by 200%.
He had been lucky enough to strike the snake in the neck as well to cause critical damage.
His strength as well as his intelligence stats multiplied by 400% were enough to slay this beast... at the cost of shattering his blade.
He flew up as fast as he could while storing the body and he knew his time was limited due to his low health and his poisoned condition.
He was losing health rapidly and his regeneration couls barely keep up, the electrocution effect he was under also caused damage over time which did not help the situation either.
Three separate damage over times, bleeding, electrocuted and poisoned.
These effects made his health drain fast which made him have to use his healing aura constantly while he finally got close to the edge of the island.
Even though his health was balanced out against the damage he did not look like he was confident and the only moment when he seemed to be relieved was when he was finally over the island\'s edge, where he began to descend the few feet he had above it.
That\'s when his body locked up.
~~~~~~~~~~
Electrocution debuff active effect has been applied.
Player paralyzed.
~~~~~~~~~~
He jolted into a strange pose as he fell against the ground like a falling stone.
He took a small amount of fall damage and he now had to wait out the effect but at least the damage over time was reduced with the lightning effect ending.
\'At least I didn\'t get paralyzed mid air... falling to my death would suck.\'
~
Once he was finally able to move Alexander began to search for the strange cave that had been explored gods knew how many times.
Once the original player that found this secret had revealed it many had come to search for anything that remained, including himself.
Normally one could simply go right to the cave but it wasn\'t so simple, the cave entrance that was actually going to lead to the secret changed each day and the only sign was increased mana density.
So over the island he flew, searching for mana that did not match the surroundings.
The island was quite large and could easily have dozens of cave entrances but he at least knew that the cave would never be one of those on the underside of the platform.
The largest cave was also home to an elite enemy that he would have to avoid.
He knew that even after months of the game being out and all that time the secret had been looted, this elite still remained as a danger.
When he finally found the cave he entered swiftly.
Then he began to cultivate his mana core.
To activate the secret he had searched for he knew he had to have at least a gold quality mana gem, if he had anything less he would be unable to activate the Inheritance.
Yes an inheritance, he was after something left behind by a powerful figure from the world.
When the one who had obtained it in his past life had explained what he got, he only even described a unique sword that gave him a bonus to his stats.
Gaining even a single piece kf unique gear was enough to ensure a player would eventually become a member of the top 1000, to gain further ranks would require skill and dedication...
Or more unique gear.
He was excited to obtain this item but he also knew the player\'s secret, it wasn\'t just a sword he obtained but a class.
He never learned the exact details of it but he knew the class had to be of the Magus category, a warrior that fought with mana as their weapon.
A magus was easy to identify if you knew what to look for but it was disappointingly easy to pretend to be one.
All one had to do was learn to use mana constructs and buff their physical stats.
To truly identify a magus would require knowing mana perfectly and most commonly mages were the ones who identified a magus.
The common trait amongst the class category was the ability to enhance the body through mana.
While reforging his core into a gem he prayed directly to the patron deity of his race, the light goddess Luminous, to ensure his core was properly reforged he even used a few cores from his bag to increase the density of the mana he could absorb.
All mana could be absorbed if one knew the method and absorbing cores was discovered late in the game\'s lifespan, though he knew this was a false story.
Even now he knew that soon the information about mana cores and gaining skills through learning them would be given out by reckless players on forums.
Until that point only those that bothered to explore the game would have learned about the techniques that NPCs could teach.
The others who would know this would be clans that had bought the information.
Once he finally compressed his mana into a gem he cheered from the result.
Gold, It might be lower than he had hoped but it was enough, he could always try to get ahold of a treasure or a system reward to make it increase anyway.
"Hmm a Golden glow around your mana gem... you shall do."
His vision warped as he was transported to another place, a room with walls covered in gold, plated like armor.
The ground was covered in gems and riches while on a pedestal was a simple wooden coffin that pulsed with life mana.
Alexander knew that if he didn\'t properly act he would be slain and never allowed to return, so he approached the pedestal.
Each coin in that room would be worth 1000 creddits in the real world soon and there were easily hundreds of thousands of them in that room but he did not even look.
He kneeled beside the coffin and spoke a prayer of deliverance to the Goddess Luminous and once he finished he took out the shattered silver grade sword to lay upon the coffin.
This part was not required but he felt the blade deserved to be put to rest as well and giving a gift may help his act.
"To reach this resting place my blade served me well but in the end it shattered under my power, it is only a pathetic blade in the eyes of such a warrior but a blade that uses ones affinity may surely help such a great warrior in the battles of the afterlife."
From behind he heard a rasping sound and he quickly turned to face it, he knew there were no enemies in there unless he failed but he still feared an ambush.
Instead of an ambush he saw a glorious golden face, bright scales lain across powerful muscle and wise eyes that bored into his own as if looking into his very soul.
"You respect the tomb of one you do not even know, you could not have been told about the divine paladin as none who remember him would speak of it to such a weak being..."
He bowed his head before the great dragon and spoke the truth.
"I came here seeking treasure and instead found something that was worth honoring."
The dragon laughed loudly and brought its face as close as possible.
"You would have been a delight for the paladin to meet, sadly he had passed thousands of years ago... he left me behind and asked me to find one that was worthy of his inheritance, the blessing of the goddess."
The dragon looked him deep in the eye and spoke with a strange emotion in it\'s voice that he couldn\'t identify.
"You are not worthy..."
When he heard those words he almost broke down but he chose to keep his gaze straight and express his confusion.
"You are not worthy to be the divine paladin, but you can be."
~~~~~~~~~~
The ancient dragon Angradova is offering you the inheritance of the Divine Paladin, (Luminous) as part of this inheritance you will be given the unique item [Lightbringer] wielded by the chosen paladin of the goddess of light.
Do you accept?
