Chapter 95: How Rude!
"Look at that!"
"It must be a mistake, right?"
Alvin noticed that and quickly checked his MCOM.
-1st | Xifrin Lou'dian: 845 Points - Level 5 Magus.-
"It is the same level as our Academy's principal..." Alvin took a deep breath, seeing that information.
Linfel was also impressed. "The test only accepts those below the age of seventeen. Truly remarkable. However, this is good."
"How come?" Alvin asked.
"Now everyone looks like trash, not only you," Linfel explained.
Alvin's mouth twitched. Why does he still ask? He knows nothing good can come from the wisp, and yet he just can't learn his lesson...
That wasn't the only Level Five. Ten minutes later, a Familiar of the same level appeared.
-1st | Trodeu: 869 Points - Level 5 Familiar.-
Alvin obviously didn't lose that chance. "Now that guy makes you look like trash."
Linfel looked back at him, genuinely confused. "What are you talking about? I'm not even a familiar. It is meaningless to compare me to them."
Poor Alvin... His words did absolutely no damage to the wisp, damaging Alvin even more instead.
"Hey, seems like we are finally there," Linfel called Alvin's attention. They finally got to the front.
There, Linfe and Alvin were separated, one being sent to a different receptor from the other. Due the the characteristics of Familiars and Humans, that had to be done to test the best of each side.
"Alvin," Linfel spoke to Alvin as they moved away. "Just do your best, trust our training."
Alvin took a deep breath and nodded. He quickly positioned himself in front of the receptor and put his hand on it. Then, he looked at the worker there, waiting for his signal to start.
"Your ID has been checked. As soon as you start pouring Magic Energy into the receptor, your ten-second countdown will begin. You can start now," the guy quickly explained.
Alvin then channeled all the Magic Energy in his core through his meridians and finally on the receptor ahead. Immediately, the ten-second mark appeared on a screen in front of him while the receptor shined with a brown color. Obviously, the color of his Level Three Magic Energy.
As Alvin did his best, the worker on the side couldn't help but glance at the receptor. 'Isn't it shining a little too much...?' He had seen hundreds of contestants so far, ten of which were already at Level Four. Surprisingly, the receptor seemed to shine as much as when the Level Four Contestant tried it out. Nonetheless, that wasn't his problem, so he just waited for the ten seconds to be over.
On the other side, Linfel just started doing the same thing, not feeling the least bit worried. 'Hum... pretty similar to the receptors back in the Magus Academy. I wonder how Aelua is doing now.' Aelua, the researcher about Magic Energy from space Linfel worked for.
Linfel's receptor shined even more than Alvin's. For Linfel, no such thing as Magic Channels existed in his core. It was all about using the core itself to send Magic Energy out. Naturally, that also caught the attention of a few eyes watching the test.
The first one to finish his test was Alvin. The ten-second mark was over, and the receptor refused to accept even a single iota of Magic Energy anymore.
"Sigh..." Alvin looked at the screen, which was calculating his result. "I did what I could, now to hope that I can make it to the top 30% at least..."
A few seconds later, the result came out.
-17th | Alvin Brunes: 759 Points - Level Three Magus.-
Immediately, the surroundings went silent. Every single eye looked in Alvin's direction, not believing what they were seeing. The main screen, which showed the result for everyone, had a hundred names on it, and Alvin was literally the only Level Three Magus in there. The rest were all Level Four or Five! Not only that, he was in the 17th position! How ridiculous was that?
"759 Points?! A Level Three Magus with fucking 759?!"
"Incredible! How did he do that?"
"It's a mistake! It has to be!"
"Hey, swap the receptor! There is no way he did 759 points!"
"Yes, that's the result of a Level Four Magus and a top-ranked one at that."
Alvin was just as shocked. "This..." He didn't understand how he could have achieved 759 points. It made no sense.
*WOW!*
Yet, his thunder was quickly stolen by someone else, a certain wisp not too far from him.
-1st | Linfel: 999 Points - Level Three Familiar.-
Alvin's mouth twitched. 'Let's pretend I don't know him... Maybe he forgot I exist.'
Not only in Lebeu, but all the other cities across the planet fell into a frenzy after seeing that result. A Level Three Magus had just done something unbelievable... just for a Familiar to create a miracle a few seconds later.
Linfel checked at that result, feeling satisfied. He ignored all the looks and returned to Alvin, much to the young man's sadness. "That wasn't so bad, was it? Oh, seems like our training paid off, you also got quite a good result yourself. This should be enough to get to the second test, yeah?"
Alvin bitterly smiled and walked to the waiting area. Not even god would believe Alvin had no relation with Linfel now. Still, even though Alvin expected anything and everything from Linfel, he still couldn't understand his own result.
'Linfel,' Alvin couldn't hold back anymore and whispered with his magic energy so only Linfel could hear. 'How did I get that result? I'm better than most Level Four Maguses...'
'Oh, that?' Linfel didn't find it strange. 'You are receiving Magic Energy from me, which is the cleanest Magic Energy you could ever hope to get. Naturally, this long-time training with my Magic Energy not only cleaned your meridians but further developed them. I believe I mentioned something like that in the past, didn't I?'
Alvin was taken aback. He did hear Linfel commenting something similar, but at that time, he truly didn't pay much attention. Alvin simply thought that, at most, it would make him get a little closer to the geniuses from the academy. He never expected he would create a result that could completely trash them. 'Am I becoming a monster like you?'
'How rude!' Linfel complained back. 'I'm no monster; I'm a wisp. Besides, we are just starting.'
