Chapter 66 Tricky Situation

'He just threatened to kill me permanently in a friendly tone. What a cunning bastard.' Alex thought, clearly understanding the underlying meaning of Darius' friendly words.

The players could respawn after dying, but there were many ways to kill a player avatar permanently, and one of those methods was being burned to death by Elemental Flame.

The Elemental Flame was a unique flame that fourth Rank warriors or creatures would use to help refine their body and turn it into a Mana Body.

If the elemental flame was used on a player who hadn't reached the fourth Rank, it would slowly burn the player's body, killing his game avatar permanently.

"Prince Darius, the [SS] Rank legacy is already sold, so it had no price, but I can offer you something better than a [SS] Rank legacy."

"Mr.Hidden One, You should seriously consider my sincere offer," Darius said in a serious tone.

"Prince Darius, I know how to acquire the legacy of your ancestor, the first king of the gold kingdom [Archmage Goldfridus]," Alex said, starting his plan.

After hearing Alex's bold statement, Darius was surprised, but his surprise quickly changed to anger.

"You know the potential consequences of your lie?" Darius said with a blank face as purple lighting crackled around his body and purple flame started manifesting on his hands.

'I knew he would react like this.' Alex thought, seeing the abrupt change in Darius.

"Prince Darius, I think you forget I am holding a truth crystal," Alex said, showing Darius the unchanged golden truth crystal.

After hearing Alex's reminder, Darius looked at the truth crystal, and not seeing any color change on it, his angry face turned to genuine shock, and the lightning and flame around him vanished instantly.

After calming down, Darius took the truth crystal from Alex and mumbled something in a very low voice, and immediately the truth crystal's color changed from golden to red.

"Mr.Hidden One, Please repeat your previous statement," Darius said as he gave the truth crystal back to Alex.

"I can acquire the [SSS] Rank legacy of [Archmage Goldfridus]," Alex repeated his words, knowing his words being true alone were more valuable than a [SS] Legacy to Darius.

Alex was willing to offer a [SSS] Rank legacy to Darius because it was of no use to him because only the blood descendant of Archmage Goldfridus could inherit his legacy.

In Alex's previous life, the Olympian guild acquired the [Archmage Goldfridus] legacy, and after finding the restrictions to use it, they happily gave it to the gold kingdom.

The gold Kingdom King generally gave the Olympian guild three chances to make a demand from their kingdom with minimal restriction as their reward for finding the legacy.

Alex planned to do the same as he needed two items from the gold kingdom royal treasure, but because of his current circumstances, he decided to make some changes to his plan to get out of his troublesome situation and still gain the planned benefits.

Darius kept looking at the truth crystal, and after seeing no reaction, he dropped his head back and started laughing as if he had just heard the biggest joke of his life.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

'I am not surprised that he is laughing as the situation is genuinely funny.' Alex thought, knowing the reason behind Darius' reaction.

"It is amusing how an immortal adventurer like you know how to acquire my Ancestor's legacy, which my family has been looking for for the past six centuries, but have not even a found solid clue that if it even exists in this world," Darius said with an angry tone.

'Why the hell is he angry when he should be celebrating?' Alex thought, seeing Darius being way angrier than before.

"Your planning was immaculate, but you should have chosen a more believable lie."

"I will only ask this once who send you?" Darius growled, releasing a tremendous amount of killing intent as his hands got covered in purple lightning.

'Capture him alive.' Darius said to someone telepathically.

'This bastard has some loose screws in his head.' Alex knew Darius didn't believe his words even after not seeing any reaction from the truth crystal.

'I think he believes I am an assassin sent to kill him, and this meeting was a planned setup, not an accident.' Alex thought as he felt the full brunt of Darius' killing intent.

Alex knew Darius believed that he was hiding his true strength, and in disguise, he was at least a Rank four warrior here to assassinate him.

"Prince Darius, I am willing to sign a Watcher Contract with your chosen condition to prove that I am not lying, and this is just a big misunderstanding," Alex said with both hands in the air, not moving from his position.

Alex knew if he said anything else that could sound like he was trying to buy some time, Darius would definitely mess him up badly.

A Watcher Contract was an agreement between a player and an NPC, with AI Zero being responsible for implementing the agreed conditions and punishing the person who broke the agreement.

---------------------

'Darius, I don't this the kid is lying as I feel no threat from him.' Someone telepathically said to Darius.

'Rollos, Do you believe he knows how to acquire the legacy of my great Ancestor?' Darius asked, fully convinced that Alex was lying.'

'I want to believe he is telling the truth, but it's just too good to be true.'

'Rollos, we both know he is lying, and I will give him a miserable death for his crime.' Darius said, really pissed at Alex.

'Well, This is interesting.' Rollos said after hearing Alex's proposal about the Watcher contract.

'Darius, the kid just gave you the solution.'

---------------------

"Accept the contract," Darius said after a few seconds of intense staring at Alex.

Punishment: Permanent Death

Accept [YES / NO]

-------------

'The punishment is tricky, but to avoid that, I just need to consider any words I speak from now.' Alex thought as he accepted the contract after reading it a few more times to ensure he understood all the details.

"I can acquire the [SSS] Rank legacy of [Archmage Goldfridus],"

"I am still not dead," Alex said, giving Darius a cheeky smile.

After hearing Alex's words and not seeing him receiving the punishment, The bloodlust and intense lighting around Darius was gone as he looked toward Alex with a big smile.

"Mr.Hidden One, I hope you understand the reason for my intense reaction, as the things you claim are quite unbelievable," Darius said with a friendly tone.

"I understand that Archmage Goldfridus Legacy is quite a sensitive matter for the Royalty of the Gold kingdom," Alex replied.

There were many rumors about Archmage Goldfridus, and one of the most widespread rumors was that Archmage Goldfridus didn't leave his legacy to his descendent because he didn't deem any of them worthy enough to be his successor.

This rumor, correct or not, was a direct humiliation to all three Royal families of the gold kingdom and the worst thing was they couldn't even defend themselves.

'Rollos, Seal the space in this carriage.' Darius said to his shadow guardian telepathically.

"Mr.Hidden One, how trustable is your source of information about my Ancestor's legacy?" Darius asked the most important question, as Alex's information could be a hoax.

Darius was not an idiot to blindly believe Alex's words just because the system and truth crystal didn't detect it as a lie.

The truth crystal and system only detected what Alex was telling, and anything he believed to be true would be considered accurate, but if the information he believed to be true was correct or false, that is a different thing.

"I can trust my source of information with my life," Alex replied, knowing what Darius was concerned about.

Alex knew that the Gold kingdom Royalty should have met many people in their search for their Ancestor's legacy who believed they knew how to acquire the legacy, but in the end, it was nothing more than a hoax.

"Mr.Hidden One, I am willing to buy all the information you have about my Ancestor's legacy."

"If your information helps me progress toward the legacy, I promise you rewards you can't even imagine in your wildest dreams,"

Darius' words made it clear that Alex was not getting any rewards until his information was proven right.

'I was planning only to demand the two items I need from the Gold Kingdom Royal treasury, but now I am considering increasing the price.' Alex thought after hearing Darius' bold offer.
