Chapter 279 There's A Third Wheel In This Class Now
Hmmmmmmmmmm…
"Miss Aster?"
"Waaahhh?!"
I was so engrossed in the book I was reading that I let out a squeak of surprise when I heard someone call my name from beside me.
I looked up to see one of the librarians, Brielle, looking at me with concern.
She was a female Mahun wearing a white blouse and a pencil skirt. Her brown, shoulder length hair cascaded freely around her face while a pair of glasses adorned her face.
"Miss Aster, I believe you told me to inform you once the third period of the day is about to end, yes? You have about ten more minutes so you might want to make your way to your next class soon."
"Oh, thank you Miss Brielle. I\'ll just put these books back and I\'ll be on my way."
She looked down at the books that I had piled up around the table.
Ugh… I may have gone a little overboard with my reading… Especially since I came here after visiting every class once to show my face before coming right back here so I told her there was no need to clear it as I would come back right away.
But since my last lesson for today was Lumenmancy and I was Lisa\'s only student, I could ask her to just skip straight to the lessons without doing the basic reviews the other classes were doing. Thus there wasn\'t a need for me to come back here later since it would be after classes anyway.
Brielle started picking up the books on the table, "An Advanced Introduction To Pyromancy, The Guide To Healing All Physical Ailments, The Darkness Beyond Umbramancy, Improving Your Proficiency In Magic Quickly And Steadily, Basics Of Noble Etiquette, How To Make Your Lover Feel Even More Loved. Hmmm… May I just ask, Miss Aster… Is there a reason why you seem to be trying to learn so many different subjects despite being so young?"
I giggled, "Well… I\'m in the best school in the Kingdom with so many resources at my disposal, of course I would want to make use of as many of them as I can, right?"
"Fufu~ It\'s really rare for a first year like you to be so serious about studying. Normally first years like you would already dread the idea of studying, much less excelling in school."
"Eh? Aren\'t there students who are also trying hard to catch up to me because of my challenge?" I asked, remembering what Daniel told me in the morning.
"Have they? Unfortunately I\'m not aware of that since barely any first years would come here of their own accord."
Hmm… I guess they don\'t like reading that much and are relying on practical training instead? I guess since magic schools like this were the norm for the people around here, they don\'t exactly have my motivation and incentive to learn as I do.
Then again… The students in my year are around ten to twelve years old right now so I guess that\'s to be expected.
Brielle smiled at me, "Don\'t need to worry, Miss Aster. I\'ll clear these books away. You can head to your next class."
"Eh? I feel a little bad for leaving this to you though… Especially since I was the one who made the mess…"
"Fufu~ This is no big deal since Miss Aster is doing this in pursuit of knowledge after all. Had you made this mess on purpose, that would have been a different case altogether."
Hmm… I understand now that she\'s someone who really enjoys watching others learn or gain knowledge. As expected of a librarian here I guess?
I thanked her before gathering my own things to head to my Lumenmancy class.
Since class had already ended while I was talking to Brielle, students now flooded the corridors to move to their last class of the day, unlike the previous times where it was practically empty the previous times.
Oops, better not to draw attention to myself or I might get swarmed by the other students trying to greet me.
I quickly cast my [Shadow Wall] and [Shadow Glide], wrapping myself up in darkness before gliding through the corridor by keeping to the shadows.
It was quite easy since I could also make use of the students\' shadows to move as well and since there were so many of them, I always had a place devoid of light that I could use my spell\'s effects on.
Thanks to that, I managed to reach my class pretty quickly and I slipped inside without anyone noticing I was ever there.
I released my spell and allowed myself to appear from the darkness.
"Oh? Hello Aster~"
"Mmm… Hello Li… Eh?"
I was about to greet my Infrid when I noticed that I was not alone with her as would usually be the case.
She already told me how unpopular Lumenmancy was in the school and I was pretty much her only student here. All of our classes would only have me attending her class and we would… Ahem… Do all kinds of things in the class.
Hey, she does teach as well, ok? But in some lessons it would also lead to us doing other things aside from just studying…
It\'s hard not to when your teacher is that hot and is constantly all over you, ok?
But today, the first thing I noticed was that Lisa was in her human illusion, something that she would not do when it was just the two of us.
The second thing I noticed was the male Mahun seated in one of the empty desks in front of her.
He looked to be a senior student since he was most definitely older than the students in my year. Plus, I would say he has a face that wouldn\'t lose to the pretty boys of the Student Council of our school.
I had even thought he was one of them at first but realised he wasn\'t when I noticed his uniform did not have the gold trims that would mark him as a Student Council member.
His messy blonde hair, his angular and sharp face, coupled with his large and bright eyes would have given any of those boy band idols in my old World a run for their money.
He waved at me, "Hello, you must be Aster? The special class student of the first years with that crazy challenge of using eight different kinds of magic?"
I nodded, "Umm… I guess so? You are?"
"Oh, where are my manners?" He stood up and stretched out his hand. "I\'m Aaron, a final year student here so I\'ll be graduating this year. It\'s nice to meet you."
I touched his palm before turning to look at Lisa questioningly.
She nodded in his direction, "Well, Aaron here is joining our class as of today to learn Lumenmancy. He aspires to become a Dungeoneer so he wants to be able to use this magic to help him navigate through dark dungeons."
I tilted my head, "We can just join a class in the middle of the school year just like that?"
"Hmm? Of course. After all, you are responsible for what you learn after all. The school isn\'t going to stop you from joining a class halfway if you\'re determined to learn the subject on your own to catch up. Though I suppose in this class, we\'re a rather special case since there\'s so few students anyway."
We have only two students including him, Lisa… I think we\'re beyond the description of a \'special case\' but more like a sad case instead...
I then took my own seat in front of Lisa, prompting her to rise to her feet while clapping her hands together.
"Alright! Now let\'s start the first lesson of the semester! Since it\'s the first day, I would like you to do a quick review on all the basic Lumenmancy spells you know so far, Aster. In the meantime, let me help Aaron settle in on the lesson so that he can catch up to our current syllabus, ok?"
Eeeh… The whole reason why I came here was because I was looking forward to having a one on one private lesson with Lisa… Now she tells me that I need to do the exact thing I had been leaving the other classes for right now?
In fact… I\'m actually surprised that Lisa would even suggest doing this… I was so sure that she would even turn him away just so that she could have this one private class with me without an additional third party… Why would she even want this?
I guess it might be the fact that having just one student in the subject you\'re teaching is quite sad even if the student you have is your lover as well…
Wait…
Oh no, no, no…
Don\'t tell me… She\'s not accepting his participation in her lesson because she wants a new student… Lisa\'s only accepting it because she sees him as a potential target to cuck?
I turned to look at her and there she was, staring at Aaron who was busy arranging his class materials like he was a piece of meat.
Oh dear… Really sorry Aaron… At least if you don\'t fall in love with Lisa, you could avoid that fate…
Stay strong and don\'t fall in love with your hot teacher ok? Because she\'s mine~
