Chapter 901 Showing the Goods
Though, when he looked at the man's face and noticed his genuine confusion, the young man began to doubt himself, scratching the back of his head for a bit as the gears in his mind turned.
"Do you really not know anything about the First Industrial Revolution?" asked Valyr after inwardly taking a deep breath.
In response, Julian firmly shook his head. "I have no idea what that is."
"It's the era of technology that comes after the Age of Scientific Revolution," explained the young man in the simplest way he could, his expression now that of slight concern.
Fortunately, Julian showed that he knew a bit about the era Valyr mentioned. "The Age of Scientific Revolution… that's the era that comes after the Renaissance Age, right?" n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"That's the one." Valyr grinned as he nodded. "Then, the First Industrial Revolution comes after that, only to be followed up by the Second Industrial Revolution."
At those words, Julian returned to his confused state earlier. "Wait… huh? After the Renaissance Age there came three revolutions in a row, with two of them related to something called 'industrial'…"
"What's so significant about this 'industrial' thing that two revolutions happened?"
Listening to the words that came out of Julian's mouth at that point, Valyr let out a low sigh as he decided to explain the various eras to the man in greater detail.
Being reminded of what Nila had done for him up to the Digital Age, the young man took his time, feeling that this was a good starting point for him to share the things he gained from the inheritance to aid the humans in the war.
Starting off on information related to technological eras that the two of them were familiar with, Valyr gradually moved onto the more advanced ages, with information on the High and Late Middle Ages causing Julian's eyes to widen in shock.
By the time the young man was talking about the Renaissance Age, the man had gone completely silent, seemingly choosing to commit all of the information Valyr was telling him to memory.
In the end, it took a couple of hours in total for the young man to go from the Early Middle Ages up to the First Industrial Revolution in considerably great detail, which made the young man bitterly smile once he took a quick peek out the window.
"The sun's already about to set, huh…" muttered Valyr to himself, only to look back at Julian not long after.
Surprisingly, after the young man was done going through the various eras of technology, the man continued to remain silent as he sported a pensive expression.
With the gears in the man's mind working on overdrive, it only took a few more minutes for Julian to return to his previous state, looking at Valyr as if he was his lifelong mentor.
Closing his eyes for a bit, he returned his gaze towards the young man, his eyes brimming with gratitude. "You've definitely widened my horizons, Valyr," said Julian with a grateful smile. "If information like this was readily available to all of the blacksmiths under the empire, humanity wouldn't have been on the losing end against the orcs right now."
After that, the man let out a soft exhale. "Then again, even if it was readily available, the barrier of entry is extremely high."
Saying those words, Julian told Valyr how his explanation had significantly reduced the amount of Technology Points needed to unlock the advancements for those eras in his Technology Tree.
However, even with his position as one of the Blacksmith Guild's branch guild masters, the total amount of Technology Points needed to reach the First Industrial Revolution was a value that roughly soared beyond the millions.
"I'm guessing you unlocked the advancements thanks to the inheritance?" asked Julian, to which Valyr nodded in response.
Nodding back, the man then bitterly smiled. "If only I knew that one could gain this much from there… I would've probably tried harder to become a candidate for the inheritance back then."
Growl…
Just as the atmosphere surrounding the two had finally become silent, the rumbling of Valyr's stomach immediately broke that silence, causing Julian to let out a faint chuckle.
"Well… that's not surprising," said the man after some time, immediately asking a random staff member from the guild to bring them a lot of food and water.
Thankfully, it did not take long for the staff to return, carrying along what seemed to be multiple bowls of various soups, meats, grains, and stews, as well as a couple of large containers filled to the brim with cold water.
"I'm sorry that this is the first proper meal you've received after you came back from the inheritance." Seeing as Valyr was eying all of the meals the staff brought as if it was made by the most skilled chef in the kingdom, Julian felt a bit sorry.
"Everyone in the guild has been busy ever since the war has gone into full swing, so this is the best we can do for now."
"I don't mind." Replying to Julian's words, Valyr shook his head before giving him a refreshing smile. "It's many times better than going hungry, after all."
"Plus, it's thousands of times better than the food I've been cooking up while we were in the inheritance," added the man after taking a bite of the food, immediately devouring the contents of one bowl after that.
With the young man ravenously engorging himself on the food the staff brought, a look of relief appeared on Julian's face before it turned into yet another grateful smile.
And so, the young man had finally gotten a bit of the rest he sorely needed after being stuck in the inheritance for over two weeks, enjoying every bite of food he took along the way.
Of course, with the war still looming, the young man only enjoyed it up to the point he had gotten his fill.
Though he decided to eat a bit extra to compensate for the lack of eating he did in the inheritance, Valyr returned Julian's attention to the things he'd gotten from the inheritance.
"There's more?" Naturally, Julian was surprised to hear that the young man still had more to tell him.
"Well, if we're talking about the rewards I got from the inheritance, then I've already told you more or less everything," said Valyr in response, omitting all of the other unimportant stuff he'd gained from the inheritance that had nothing to do with forging.
Placing the bowl of food he was currently devouring to the side for now, Valyr soon pulled out the arquebus he'd improved in the inheritance, immediately piquing Julian's interest the moment he saw it.
Taking note of the weapon's design, the man soon recalled the weapon Valyr had made in the past that the latter still considered a work in progress.
"This is that weapon you were working on before entering the inheritance, right?" Julian asked as he activated his identification skill on it. "It was called… an arquebus, right?"
"An arquebus, yeah." Valyr nodded, faintly grinning after a screen had appeared before the man's vision.
"How in the heavens…" Unsurprisingly, at the very moment information on the arquebus had appeared before Julian, the man was left at a complete loss for words after noticing the amount of Attack it gave.
"It hasn't even reached Legendary grade yet, but it's already boasting an Attack stat in the thousands?" Reading through more and more of the weapon's description, the more enamored Julian became with the weapon, imagining its destructive properties in the battlefield.
"Oh yeah. I also made this while I was in the inheritance." Getting the feeling that he already knew what was going on in Julian's mind, Valyr decided to bring out the pistol he'd forged and gave it to the man.
"Since the arquebus is the first weapon of that kind I made, it's received some special properties through the system," said Valyr. "This one is called a pistol, but it operates the same way as the arquebus does. Its stats are probably more in line with what would normally be the outcome."
"Even so, to boast an Attack stat in the high thousands while being at Rare grade…" Looking through the description of the pistol, it was no surprise that Julian was greatly interested in the pistol, especially after seeing the weapon's rarity.
After all, the weapon being of a lower rarity meant that it was easier to forge.
And the easier it was to forge, the more that could be produced…
Which could possibly turn the tides of the war to their side.
Feeling as if he'd looked at the two weapons Valyr brought out for long enough, Julian went silent for a bit before asking the young man a question. "Do you think it's possible to reduce the level requirement for this weapon?"
Valyr pondered over it for a bit. "It'll be slightly difficult since it has a lot of parts inside, but I think it could be lowered. It would probably result in a lower rarity, though."
"Would it still have an Attack stat over a thousand if that were the case?" asked Julian as he looked at Valyr with a slightly expectant gaze.
"I think so," replied the young man after mulling over it for a bit.
"Then that's fine," replied Julian with a relieved smile, looking at Valyr as if he had relieved the burdens of the entire Blacksmith Guild in one go.
Of course, Valyr already had an idea why Julian was asking him all this. "You plan on asking me for a blueprint so other blacksmiths could forge it for the war?"
At those words, Julian wryly smiled as he faintly nodded.
Though surprisingly, he let out a long sigh after that.
"If only you knew how much we've been struggling against the orcs as of late."
