Chapter 642: Semi-finals

"Flappy, now use 'Air slash'", said Axel.

'Air slash' had become a charged attack now and during this time, Pidgeot's speed would also be increased. As Fearow was gathering itself and trying to dodge those tornadoes, its eyes were also focused on Pidgeot. It knew that Pidgeot was going to attack now.

Even though it had deactivated its aura, it had still used 'Agility' 2 times and 'Work up' 2 times. So, speed was already very high.

Ren gave a big sigh. He could see that he was starting to lose. Fearow was already injured and it was having difficulty flying at a good speed now. It could use 'Roost' but that would not improve its stamina. After using that crazy move, Fearow was already tired.

"So, it has come to this. Fearow, use 'Exhaust'", said Ren.

Fearow exhaled from its mouth as hot air came from it. Its body was also excluding hot air as its body started to heal and it looked like it was back in its previous state. It looked energetic.

Axel knew that it could only use the move for 2 minutes, so it would attack with all it got.

Fearow used 'Agility' one more time and got ready to use the move 'Drill peck'. However, the move didn't hit Pidgeot as it was easily able to dodge the attack but it was having difficulty maintaining its speed. Fearow went on to use the move 'Sky attack' but this was dodged again.

During this time, Pidgeot was calculating Fearow. It could only attack once. Since its speed was too high for it to control, it needed to lock the target. After seeing Fearow move for some seconds, it did its calculation. Axel could see that Pidgeot was now ready to do its final attack.

"Flappy, now mix 'Parabolic charge' with 'Air aura'", said Axel with an excited face.

Pidgeot's aura around it appeared again. Then the color changed from white to yellow with sparks all around it. It gave a huge cry and then

BANG!!!!

Fearow crashed to the ground again and this time it was not going to stand up. The referee checked Fearow and announced,

"Fearow has lost this battle. Participant Ren is requested to send out his next Pokemon.", said the referee.

The crowd cheered for such an exciting battle. Ren could not believe that his Fearow had lost. It was one of the most talented Pokemon in his team. Axel really was an exceptional trainer.

He was now going to call out his starter and he hoped that he would win.

"Flappy, come back.", said Axel and called Pidgeot back to the ball.

"Would you look at that!! Axel had called off Pidgeot, so that meant he could not use it in the battle again. Both of the Pokemons could only use one Pokemon now. This battle had gotten interesting.", said the announcer.

Pidgeot was not in any form to battle again. It had already used 'Roost' and it would be in a state of weakness for some and it was also injured. Its stamina was already very low after using 'Sky domain'. So, it needed some rest.

"Ren, please call out your next Pokemon.", said the referee.

Since Ren had lost the battle, he would be the one to call out his Pokemon first.

"Come out, Rhydon.", shouted Ren and threw the ball in the air.

Rhydon was very intimidating to look at. For some reason, it was slightly bigger than a normal Rhydon. It was almost 7 feet tall. Its horns looked very menacing and its tail was smacking the ground creating shaking in the stadium.

It was a tier 1 king-rank Pokemon.

Axel had expected it to be a king-rank Pokemon. Since the first Pokemon was a pseudo-king rank and this was the quarter-finals, this time, it must be a king-rank Pokemon and he was right.

Axel had come here to train his Pokemons, especially his young Pokemons. Pidgeot was also one of the young Pokemons as it was not even in king rank. So, for now, he had achieved his purpose. He simply had no reason to fight a tough battle by calling out a weaker Pokemon.

So, he directly went to the offensive.

"Come out, Charles."

A huge Charizard appeared. As it landed on the ground, it created a shaking sound too and it gave a huge roar. Ren was not prepared for that as he felt that his eardrums might be damaged by that roar.

The roar was powerful and very loud. Ren could see that this Pokemon was very powerful and it was more powerful than his Rhydon. He still had not given up hope. He wanted to win this battle and for that to happen, he would have to make an excellent plan.

"Are you both ready for battle?", asked the referee.

"Yes, I am."

"Just wait for a minute.", said Ren.

His brain was processing how to beat this Pokemon. He needed some time. Charizard was stronger than Rhydon as it was a tier 2 king-rank Pokemon but Ren believed that with good preparation and strategy, he might be able to win this battle.

After some time, he turned towards the referee and said, "Yes, I am ready now."

"Ok, let the battle begin!!!", shouted the referee.

"Rhydon, use 'Rock blast'", shouted Ren.

"Charles, just destroy that Pokemon.", said Axel calmly.

The battle didn't even last 2 minutes. Charizard started to Spam out hot flames from its mouth. It was ready to go. After fighting for barely 2 minutes, Rhydon was down and it had fainted. Ren realized that he had made a terrible mistake. Charizard was very strong. Extremely strong. He made himself fall into this delusion that Charizard could be beatable but he was wrong.

Charizard didn't even have to use 'Transform' or 'Blaze' to win the fight. Even though its ranks had not changed, it had become stronger than before. The gap between the tiers of king ranks was higher than in previous ranks. So, a tier 2 Pokemon could be very powerful.

Axel had also trained Charizard with careful thinking and planning and with the help of the system, it had become very strong.

"Axel Blaze is going to the semi-finals.", said the announcer. The rest of the trainers got a real view of Axel's powers. He was not famous for anything. That was a powerful Pokemon and a capable trainer.

After winning the battle, Axel didn't waste any time and just went to the training ground to meet Frank. After paying a lot of money, the training ground was now free for Frank to train all day.

Axel and Frank started to talk for some time and then went to the hotel to get fresh.

Pidgeot had improved a lot from its previous self but Axel began to realize that it still lacked a lot of things. The first thing was a defensive move. Pidgeot focused on speed and attack but that didn't mean that it should not have a defensive move. Axel wanted a move that would increase its special and physical defense.

Second was special moves. It knew a lot of physical moves and the only special move it knew was 'Air Slash'. It needed to learn some special moves that might be necessary in some situations.

Axel knew that Pidgeot knew very few moves in its rooster. First, he wanted it to teach 'Hurricane'. It was an upgrade version of 'Whirlwind' and it was very powerful but for some reason, Axel wanted to improve 'Whirlwind' to the level of 'Hurricane'. He believed that by doing this, the move would improve a lot.

So, he gave up 'Hurricane'. Except for 'Hurricane', there was only 'Air cutter' that Pidgeot could learn. He wanted it to learn a completely different new move for a special type category, but 'Air cutter' was a good move. It was very similar to 'Air slash' but 'Air cutter' was smaller and sharper and also faster. There was no reason for it to learn this move, but Axel felt that its experience on 'Air slash' would increase after it learned this move.

After thinking for some time, Pidgeot would be learning 'Discharge', 'Air cutter', and a new defensive move that would increase its defense. Axel could not find any suitable defensive move for Pidgeot. So, he had to create a new one.

Today was the semi-finals of the Rising Star Tournament and Axel was ready to roll. Axel looked at the list of participants and saw that Mia also reached the semi finals. He was getting more curious about how good she really was.

Axel was fighting against a trainer named Jin. This was also going to be a 2 Vs 2 Pokemon battle and after winning this Axel was going to the finals. He wanted to finish this Rising Star tournament as fast as possible so that he could go to the island to meet Latias.

Both of them came to the stage and the crowd cheered for them. They were ready to battle but Jin went ahead and said something before the battle started.
