Chapter 613: Axel Vs Roy 1
Chapter 613: Axel Vs Roy 1
The first battle was always important in gym battles because it determined the pace of the entire fight. Losing the first battle would be hard on anyone.
However, Roy was an experienced gym leader. He didn't stare at it feeling lost. He sent out his next Pokemon.
"Come out, Fearow."
Fearow was the next Pokemon that Roy had chosen and it was a good choice. It was a flying/normal Pokemon and it was deadly.
Primeape had won but it was also injured. It didn't have any healing moves and using it now would just be stupid.
"Come back, Gary. You did a good job.", said Axel and called out Primeape.
"The challenger is requested to send out his next Pokemon.", said the referee.
"Let's do it, Aerodactyl.", said Axel and threw the ball high in the air.
Aerodactyl was a perfect Pokemon for Fearow. Fearow was weak to rock type moves and Aerodactyl had plenty of them. Axel could tell that Fearow was stronger than Murkrow but he believed that Aerodactyl could handle it.
He looked at the stats of Fearow:
---
Pokemon's name: Fearow (Age- 3 years)
Pokemon Nickname: NA
Pokemon Rank: Rare rank
Ability: Keen eye (45%)
Hidden ability: Sniper (25%)
Potential: Red (Advanced)
Health: 2000/2000 Attack: E+
Agility: D Defense: E
Sp. Atk: E Sp. Def: F
Moves: Aerial ace, Mirror attack, Furry attack, Drill peck, Work up, Double team, Air cutter, Agility, Razor wind
---
"It is more powerful than Murkrow.", mumbled Axel to himself. If Aerodactyl and Primeape could take it down, then Axel was confident that Togetic could handle the final Pokemon. Togetic was the most powerful Pokemon among the 3 of them. That was why it was chosen to go last.
"Are you both ready for battle?", asked the referee.
"Yes, I am."
"Yes, I am."
"Let the battle Begin!!!"
"Fearow, start with 'Agility' and 'Work up'"
"Aerodactyl, use 'Sandstorm'"
This was his big move. 'Sandstorm' has leveled up to level 40+ and it was more powerful and fierce than normal 'Sandstorm'. Now, Fearow had 'Keen eye' which let it see in the situations like 'Sandstorm' but it was not mastered 100%. Of course, Fearow could see in the 'Sandstorm' due to its ability but it was not as perfect as in normal circumstances.
However, the other advantage and Axel had been expecting this was the flying capability of Fearow. 'Sandstorm' was level 46 right now. Yes, it had leveled up nicely. Aerodactyl had been concentrating on this move for a week and Axel had really grinned it to level up past level 45.
---
Sandstorm (Aerodactyl) (Level 40): The storm is more fierce and it becomes more difficult to open eyes and see the user.
(Level 45): The storm is even more fierce. It would now cover a large area of 20 meters radius and since the wind is so fierce, the enemy would start to lose a good chunk of health every second. It could be activated for 7 minutes.
---
Axel was relying on this move to win. He also told Aerodactyl to use 'Stealth rock' after using 'Sandstorm'. He didn't say it out loud and wanted to keep it a secret.
The storm did hit Fearow. It was able to use 'Work up' but could not use 'Agility' as it was disturbed by the storm. Fearow was also having difficulty flying inside the storm.
"Fearow, get out of that storm. Use 'Razor wind'", shouted Roy.
'Razor wind' was a move where the user would create a hurricane and then create wind slashes out of it and attack the opponent. It was an overpowered move if used well.
"Crii. CRIIII"
Fearow gave a huge cry as it started to create a hurricane. Creating a hurricane when one was in the middle of a storm was a difficult task, but it was able to do it.
Aerodactyl used 'Rock polish' to increase its speed and then used 'Tail wind' to further increase its speed. Then it started to dodge multiple wind slashes. However, some of them did manage to hit it.
"Aerodactyl, use 'Dragon pulse'", instructed Axel.
It concentrated its power and it used a beam of dragon energy towards Fearow. Since Fearow was still inside the storm, it was not able to dodge the attack and was hit by it.
'Dragon pulse' was a powerful move and it did affect Fearow.
"Fearow, use 'Aerial ace'"
Using all of its power, it flew up in the sky. It was still in the effect of a storm and had to use extra energy. It then dived down to attack Aerodactyl. However, Axel had a soft smile during all this time.
As it was nearing Aerodactyl, Axel said, "Now use 'Stone edge'"
Multiple pointy rocks came from the ground and started to attack Fearow. Roy told it to dodge the attack but the speed of Fearow was already very high and due to the storm it was having difficulty dodging the attack. It did dodge some of the rock but was also hit by some of the rock.
This was a powerful move and it was super effective against Fearow. It was thrown off the ground by that attack and it suffered some serious damage. However, it was still a rare rank Pokemon. It would not go down like that.
Most of Fearow's moves were physical in nature but Aerodactyl was not letting it come near it. So, it could not use any of those moves. Axel had been planning this battle for the past 2 weeks now, so he was confident in this move.
"Fearow, use 'Agility' and then use 'Air cutter'"
'Razor wind' would consume a lot of stamina so, Roy came up with a plan. Fearow was not able to deal with the storm cause its speed was not up to the standard. If its speed increased by a good margin, then it might be able to do some damage.
Roy was an experienced gym leader. He knew that he might have lost this gym battle but he was not going to give up so easily.
"Fearow, cancel 'Air cutter' and use 'Mirror move first.", said Roy.
This changed the fight a bit. Axel wanted Aerodactyl to dodge 'Air cutter' and then fire up an attack but Fearow was now instead using 'Mirror move'.
'Mirror move' would let the user perform opponent's last move. However, since the move was not mastered fully, Fearow could not use the moves of other typings. Aerodactyl had used 'Tail wind', so when Roy told Fearow to use the 'Mirror move', it copied 'Tail wind'. Now with 'Agility' and 'Tail wind', Fearow's speed had increased by a good margin.
Unfortunately, it was still too late. It took some time to use those moves and Aerodactyl was not sitting still. Due to the 'Sandstorm', Fearow could see well but Aerodactyl was charging 'Meteor beam'. It was an overpowered rock-type move that would let the user gather the power from space and boost the special attack and then the user would fire up a powerful beam towards the enemy.
BANG!! BANG!!!
The move directly hit Fearow. It was not able to dodge the move fully as it was too late to react. It did manage to move a bit but that didn't help it do anything. It crashed to the ground.
Aerodactyl used 'Stone edge' again and this did injure Fearow further. It used 'Ancient power' and fortunately, it was able to get all the boost on all the stats. Aerodactyl was now stronger than ever.
Roy was now confident that he was going to lose this battle. Fearow was injured and had lost too much health. Roy only had one option left.
"Fearow, use your full power. Use 'Aerial ace' and 'Drill peck'", shouted Roy.
Fearow eyes glowed in vengeance. For the entire time, it was not able to hurt Aerodactyl one bit. It was an arrogant Pokemon and it was the Pokemon of the gym leader. It wanted to hurt Aerodactyl as much as it could.
It didn't listen to Roy one bit. It first used 'Razor wind' to create a hurricane but they started to throw wind slashes. Axel could see that this was the final struggle of Fearow.
"Aerodactyl, use 'Wide guard' and then use 'Rock polish' again", said Axel. He wanted it to dodge these attacks as much as it could and if it were hit by one of the attacks, 'Wide guard' was there to defend it.
1 wind slash did hit Aerodactyl but due to the storm, the speed of the slash was very low and also had good defense.
Then Fearow gave a huge cry and its wings started to glow. Its beak also started to glow and then it moved towards Aerodactyl at a sharp speed.
"Use, 'Stone edge' and then 'Rock slide' and try to dodge it.", said Axel as fast as he could. He knew that this was the final attack of Fearow.
When Fearow was moving and not caring about anything, its speed was lowered and its body was incurring injuries. This was due to hidden and pointy rocks that Aerodactyl had around it due to 'Stealth rock'. Axel thought that its momentum would collapse after being hit by these rocks but it carried on.
Next, there were rocks that were coming out of the ground. This was 'Stone edge'. This would surely stop its charge but Fearow chose to take the damage and it went through those rocks breaking it into pieces. This Fearow was someone to be appreciated.
Aerodactyl then managed to throw some big boulders to Fearow which did hit it but it still managed to move forward. 'Rock slide' had a slight chance to make the enemy flinch but sadly, it didn't trigger.
Aerodactyl then tried to dodge the attack but it was still hit by a powerful 'Drill peck' of Fearow. With the 'Wide guard' and increase in defense from 'Ancient power', Aerodactyl was able to defend that attack. The power of that attack had decreased a lot by so many obstacles.
After hitting Aerodactyl with that attack, Fearow closed its eyes and crashed to the ground. It had given its all in that attack. Aerodactyl was hurt after getting hit by such a powerful move. Fearow were known for their beaks and getting hit by 'Drill peak' was hurtful. But it was still able to fight again.
"Aerodactyl, use 'Sandstorm' now!!!", shouted Axel and the storm was even more fiercer. Axel wanted to use Aerodactyl in the final battle too and the time for 'Sandstorm' was going to be over. So, before the referee could announce the result, he told it to use 'Sandstorm'.
"Fearow is unable to battle. Aerodactyl wins!!! The gym leader is requested to send out his next Pokemon.", said the referee.
The crowd was silent again. The first battle may be due to some luck but Axel had managed to win the second battle too and Axel had not even lost a Pokemon while the gym leader had already lost 2 of them.
"You are an interesting trainer, Mr. Axel. I was told that this would be a difficult gym battle and I was told right. Well, the duty of the gym leader is to not fight the trainer at his best but to check if the trainer is capable of becoming the future champion.", said Roy.
"Well, then why don't you use your full force in the last battle? I want to see if you would compel me to send out my last Pokemon.", said Axel.
Axel could tell that Roy was fighting with all his intelligence. Roy had many king-rank Pokemons but he had to battle with rare rank Pokemons in this gym battle. So, obviously, he could not use his full power. These rare rank Pokemons were recently acquired due to gym requirements. So, he had not trained it so well as his previous Pokemons.
These Pokemons were just here to check if the trainer was capable enough but now he had to fight Axel and win this gym battle cause he didn't want Axel to win but he could not cause he had not trained these Pokemons quite well.
So, he said all these to save his face but Axel reverted back saying to use his full force.
"Kid, don't think that you are better than me just cause I am not taking it seriously. You might lose this gym battle if you make me angry.", shouted Roy.
