Chapter 360: Blaze Mastered !!!

Axel had expected another clash between the two Pokémon, but Darmanitan did something different. He could see that Darmanitan had closed its eyes and stopped roaring. Its size started to further increase, and now it was almost twice the size it was before. A purple wave came and went past them.

Axel knew what it was - 'Psychic Terrain'. This had happened due to its hidden ability 'Zen Mode'. When the health of the user decreases to a certain amount, the Pokémon can change its shape and typing. Darmanitan was now a fire/psychic type Pokémon and could use 'Psychic Terrain'. Axel thanked Arceus that it didn't know 'Teleport', as the battle would have been extra difficult and tricky.

Darmanitan immediately used 'Expanding Force', a psychic-type attack that would be much more powerful with 'Psychic Terrain'. Since the attack was so sudden, Charizard had no time to dodge and was hit by it. Even though Charizard had already used 'Flame Armor' by this time, the attack still affected it, leaving multiple cracks on the armor.

"Concentrate on the armor and fly high," said Axel.

He didn't want Charizard to be hit by the attack again as maintaining 'Flame Armor' was important.

The 'Flame Armor' was now a mixture of white and red, looking very beautiful. After reaching Stage II in 'Flame Control', the temperature of Charizard's fire had increased to 3500 degrees Celsius. Charizard was now a beast.

Axel had half expected that Darmanitan would never reach the air, as most of its attacks were physical, but Darmanitan defied his expectations and logic. It made an incredible jump and rocketed into the air. Its punches were now dripping with molten fire, and the punch connected with Charizard's left cheek.

Axel realized that it was a 'Molten Punch'. He also understood that this must have been a combination of 'Mystical Fire' and 'Fire Punch'. 'Mystical Fire' was a special type of fire with mysterious properties that if mastered well, could have amazing effects like this molten fiery lava punch.

The punch was so powerful that Charizard was smashed to the ground with a big BOOM.

"CHARIZARD!!! Are you okay?"

Axel didn't even know if Charizard could fight again. 'Belly Drum' had massively increased Darmanitan's power, clearly showing that Darmanitan had mastered this move almost to perfection. Charizard had just learned this move recently, so it didn't have good mastery against it.

Darmanitan didn't wait for long. Just when the dust settled, it could see Charizard slowly standing up with difficulty. It immediately sent out another psychic force, and now Charizard could not make sense of what was happening.

It had used 'Confusion'.

Axel didn't know what he should do. He had never been cornered like this before. This Darmanitan was obviously very old and extremely experienced. It was coming out with one surprise after another surprise. It was also stronger than Charizard, so Charizard didn't seem to have any chance of winning this battle.

He could not use other Pokemons as the heat on the top of the mountain was so high that other Pokemons could not withstand it. He had been trying to learn from his mistakes and trying to come out as a better trainer. However, the situation always made him realize that he was still a novice.

"I guess there is no other option. I have to use it," mumbled Axel.

He wanted to use it on another occasion or on another Pokemon, but he would have to use it now. It was such a shame. However, if he didn't use it, they were going to lose and die here. So he had no other choice.

"System, use 'Perception' on Charizard's ability 'Blaze'."

For a moment, everything went silent. It felt like sound never existed here. Darmanitan also felt weird. It knew that something had happened and it needed to end this fast. So, it ran towards Charizard. Both of its injured hands were now covered in dripping fire, and it was ready to strike. This time it targeted Charizard's right cheek and sent a powerful jab.

BAMMM

The echo of the punch reverberated through the mountain. One would expect Charizard to be blown away by that powerful attack, but it was just the opposite. Only its head turned a bit to the right side, and it opened its eyes. Its eyes looked different, completely red, and there was no fear in them.

ROARRRR....

A fiery red and white-colored wave emanated from inside Charizard and projected outside like a tornado.

Darmanitan was blasted off by the sheer force of that wave and crashed to the ground.

Immediately, everything around Charizard started to burn. The rocks and the ground near it started to melt, and now fire was everywhere. The temperature of the fire was so high that Axel had to run back to save himself. It was a surreal sight.

Charizard was staring at Darmanitan. Axel could see a hint of fear in Darmanitan's eyes. It was now in a dilemma. How could a Pokémon get so powerful, so fast? It didn't have any confidence in winning the battle.

Rome was also looking at Charizard with a shocked face.

"This power... It is clearly not in the realm of pseudo-king rank. Has it reached King rank?" asked Rome.

"No, I don't think it has, but it has become extremely powerful," replied Axel.

Charizard had activated 'Blaze', and now it was ready to finish this battle.
