Chapter 355: Ancient Temple
Chapter 355: Ancient Temple
It started draining health from the other Pokemon to heal Axel and Arcanine. The process was long because Axel didn't want others to be injured too. After half an hour of switching between the leech and vines, Arcanine and Axel were healed.
This was huge. Firstly, they didn't know where the others were, so Arcanine was the only pseudo-king rank Pokemon who would be able to fight Darmanitan. Secondly, it would be a huge help for the team in this unknown dark cave. Rome had still not woken up, and Axel was now planning what to do.
They could go outside with the help of Charizard, but it would just be suicide. That Darmanitan was strong, way stronger than Charizard and stronger than Arcanine.
So, he might as well explore this unknown cave. He might come up with some rewards or ancient knowledge that could help him and Charizard. He waited for some time until Rome woke up.
"Huh! Where are we?" Rome asked, totally confused by the scenario.
Axel told him about the hole and this dark place. Arcanine had been healed, but it was not fully recovered. It could still fight with that Darmanitan but not with its full power.
"So, you want to roam around to see what is here? It might be dangerous, Axel," said Rome.
"What choice do we have? We cannot go up right now. That Darmanitan would kill us."
"So, if we don't find anything here, what are we going to do? Train our Pokemon until they could fight it?" asked Rome, unaware of Axel's real intentions.
"If you have other ideas, I am ready to listen."
Due to this cave, their radio signals were not working, so they could not even ask for help. They only had themselves right now.
'Axel, Charizard is saying that it could feel something from the right side,' said Alakazam telepathically.
"Charizard seems to have found something. Let's follow it," said Axel, and all of them started to move.
Venusaur had also healed Axel, but Axel was also not completely fine. They started to move slowly. They seemed to have found a stick which was set on fire. Only Charizard's tail and that stick were the sources of light right now. They could not even see past 5 meters. This could be very dangerous as wild Pokemon could attack them.
Axel was fully concentrating on his 'Aura sense' to sense any danger, but fortunately, they had not encountered any wild Pokemon. The place was narrow, but it was long. They had been walking for 30 minutes now and they had not found anything.
A look of excitement could be seen on Charizard's face right now. They were now near. After walking for another 10 minutes, they finally reached the place.
The place was nothing Axel had ever seen. It was a huge temple.
It was a pagoda-style temple, with 4 floors. The temple had a distinctive upward curving roof. It seemed to be made out of wood with many cravings of Pokemon. Axel could not figure out the diagrams of Pokemon as they were still far away, but the temple seemed to be glowing in an orange light.
They could not figure out where the light was coming from, but Charizard was extremely excited while seeing this temple. It started to flap its wings, ready to charge, but Axel held it back. This was an unknown temple. They didn't know anything about it, so he wanted to be careful.
As they went near, they started to see the temple and the diagrams on top of it. There were diagrams of only many fire-type Pokemon but...
"These are diagrams of only fire-type Pokemon. Rapidash, Arcanine, Charizard, Blaziken, and others too. What does it really mean?" asked Rome.
"I guess we would have to find out," said Axel and stepped inside the temple.
The temple may have looked small from the outside, but it was huge from the inside. There were lamps floating in the air. The place was brightly lit with yellow flames. It was a bit warmer than the outside.
Axel could see a lot of carved drawings of fire-type Pokemon in the temple. Most of them were of Charizard and Darmanitan.
"Look over here, Axel. There seem to be some writing on the wall," said Rome.
There were indeed some writings, but it was an ancient language. Axel and Rome could not decipher it, but their device could.
The radio and communication devices had stopped working, but the language converter device was still good to go. Being part of an explorer's team, one would have to carry a lot of devices, and one was the language converter device.
"What does it say?" asked Axel.
"Ummm.. These texts seem to be much more ancient. The device could not fully read it.... Wait wait... It says here that this island was once a paradise for fire-type Pokemon. The temple is an ancient carving of... It goes from there. I would click a picture of it, and we could decipher it later," said Rome.
"Let's go through that door. That seems to be the only inside door here. Charizard also wants to go there," said Axel, and they started to move.
The door was around 20 feet tall. It was dark brown in color and it also had many carvings. However, the carvings were only of 2 Pokemon, Charizard and Darmanitan. This was getting interesting.
"Damn! This door seems to be locked," shouted Rome in annoyance.
"Charizard, 'Flamethrower' on the door."
"Wait, Wait... Wait... Should we really do that?" asked Rome, but Charizard was already firing flames from its mouth.
Surprisingly, the door opened without any difficulty. They went inside to find out what was there, and Axel was shocked by the discovery.
