Chapter 332: Fighting 2 gym leaders
"But if I patented it and made a copyright, it would be known to the whole world. I don't want that for the time being."
"You may not have heard, but there is an option in patent and copyright procedures where you could make your invention hidden from the world. If another person made the same invention, they would not be able to get the benefit of the patent," said Angela.
"Really? So it would also be hidden from the League?" asked Axel.
"Of course not. It would not be hidden from Oak and the champion of that region, i.e. Charles, but they would be obliged to not reveal it to others or take advantage of you," said Angela.
"Well, that is better than nothing. I fully trust Oak, and Charles seems like a good guy. I'm up for it. Thanks, leader."
They drank and laughed. The party went on until past midnight.
Axel woke up with a hangover. His head was ringing. He wanted to sleep until afternoon, but he had already booked a flight to Fuchsia City at 10 am. The flight would take over 7 hours. It was the fastest plane they had at the airport. No matter how fast, he would be challenging the gym the next day. He had already called Mr. Koga for a gym match, and he had immediately agreed. He had rescheduled the matches of other participants to give Axel the chance of the gym battle. Axel had a special place in Koga's heart.
He said his goodbyes to the crazies and others, and then went to take the flight.
The flight was 7 hours long. He was in business class and he was taking full advantage of it. He ate as much as he could and took a long nap. His Pokémon were also resting in their Poké Balls. There was no plane crash like last time, and he safely reached Fuchsia City. Fuchsia was a big city. Every gym city was a big city. Gyms were an incredible source of income for the city. Lots of trainers gathered here, which meant a lot of customers.
Axel was surprised again by the sheer size of the city. The games didn't do justice to the size of cities. Axel went directly to the gym. He wanted to meet Koga before the battle tomorrow.
Koga was a gym leader and a busy man. Axel had to wait for an hour before he could even see Koga.
"Finally here, Axel. Are you excited for the big day tomorrow?"
"I am. After a year, I am finally fighting against you. It is a dream come true."
Koga patted Axel's back. He was proud. Axel had improved tremendously in this 1 and a half years. Finally, he was going to battle Koga.
"Axel, you better prepare yourself. I won't go easy on you," said Koga.
Axel nodded his head, and they talked for some time. Then he went to his hotel. He wanted to relax for tomorrow. It was something he always did before a big battle.
###
"Haha, I won," shouted Koga on the phone.
"Oh, grow up. It was just a stupid bet," said another voice on the phone.
"Yes, but it feels good to rub it in."
"I will transfer you the money tomorrow. I am too tired to do it now."
"Alright. Hey, do you want to make tomorrow's battle interesting?" asked Koga.
"Sure. What do you have in mind?"
Axel woke up at 5 a.m, did his morning duties, and got ready for battle. For some reason, he was calm. He knew that his Pokémon were stronger and better than before. There was no way he was going to lose this gym battle.
After having breakfast, he headed to the gym. The gym reception was a crowded place. There were a lot of trainers applying for the battle. They had to wait for their turn, and it would take months for their turn to come.
Axel felt grateful that he was close with Koga. The receptionist approached him and said, "Mr. Axel, Mr. Koga is waiting for you in the battle arena. I will guide you. Please follow me."
The receptionist was very formal and looked professional. Axel followed her and entered two doors, finally arriving at the battle arena.
The battle arena was different. It was way bigger than the one in Giovanni's gym. It was just a cemented stadium with the iconic Poké Ball sign in the middle. Unlike last time, there were a number of spectators. They were cheering for Axel. They looked like Axel's fans. He didn't even know that he had so many fans.
The stadium was not full, but more than half of it was filled with spectators.
"Surprised by the bigger stadium?" Axel turned his head around and saw two men standing there.
"What are you doing here?" he asked.
"You told me that you would be coming to my gym next. So, what are you doing here?" asked the man.
"Well, things happened," replied Axel.
The man was Morgan, the gym leader of Vermilion City gym. Axel had promised that he would be going there next.
"Axel, we have an interesting proposal. If you're up for it, you will be getting two gym badges today instead of one. What do you say?" said Koga.
"I'm up for that. What do I have to do?" asked Axel.
Getting two gym badges instead of one would save a lot of time for Axel. He would only have to fight Flint after this.
"Simple. You will be battling the two of us," said Morgan with a smile.
