Chapter 111: Survive (Edited)

Normally, Red would have to wait for a year to challenge for the championship and the rules didn't allow Red to challenge the champion. But Blue agreed to the challenge. Since it was Blue's first decision after being a champion, no one could voice any opinion on it. Champions were generally regarded as kings of their region. So, no sane person would go against their decision.

The battle was very close but Red won and got the champion title. Blue was humiliated after the fight. This was the first time in history that a champion had lost their title so fast. People started calling Blue '8 days' for many years.

The first disciple was defeated by the second disciple of Oak. Then a certain quote by a trainer got famous.

'Only a disciple of Oak could beat another of his disciple.'

Cause it was true. Blue was one of the or if not the strongest Champions of ever exist until Red came along. Then Blue focused on his side occupation which was Pokemon explorer. He would go to different unknown places that had never been explored yet and report his findings to Oak. It was quite an interesting job but risky too.

Blue had small spiky hair. He had a French beard like Robert Downey Jr. He was wearing a red shirt and Blue jacket with a Pokeball sign on the front. Small wrinkles had started to form at the side of his mouth signaling that he was not aging well. He had a handsome face with blue eyes.

"Done with the sightseeing?", asked Oak.

"Yes, the place is ginormous.", said Axel.

"Of course, I am a Pokemon master after all."

Around 70% of Pallet Town belonged to Oak. This may have been the biggest land that any individual had ever owned.

"I believe you know who this is?"

"Yes, It is a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Blue"

"Ohh!! The kid got manners. Quite unusual, since he may be your next disciple dad.", said Blue shaking Axel's hand.

"You mean?", asked Oak

"You know what I exactly mean, dad.", replied Blue.

Axel was not starstruck when he met Blue. I mean the guy and his Blastoise were infamous but he had already met Oak.

"Axel if you become dad's next disciple, we would practically be like brothers. Do you want to have a battle with me?"

"Ahhh...."

"Stop it Blue, the kid is not yet ready to battle you" commented Oak.

Oak continued, "Ok, then let's start. First, let me give the rundown on why you are here. I have decided that, if you pass my test, I would select you as my new Disciple. Till now, I only have 2 disciples and they are Red and Blue."

"Ummm... I have a question" said Axel.

Oak nodded his head and Axel continued, "First, why did you choose that I would be your disciple? Since you only have 2 of them till now, I think you must have a lot of conditions or requirements for your disciple. And Second, what is the test that I would have to fulfill to become one?"

"To answer your second question, I would tell you that after we have this talk. As for the first question, there are no such requirements. I choose you cause I want you to be my next disciple. Well, there is 1 measly requirement for it. I am choosing you, cause I want you to be my next heir. I want you to be the next Pokemon master.

I choose Red and Blue for the same reason. But after some years, they went on their own path. Blue chose to be the Pokemon explorer and Red, well... he is thinking about what to do now. Red had already won the 6 champion titles from the 6 regions but now he does not want to pursue it anymore.

And I have heard that you want to be the next Pokemon master. So if I choose you, I would want you to be the next Pokemon master. I am getting old and I can only be the next Pokemon master for 30 years. So, I want the kanto region to have the next Pokemon master."

This was a piece of new information for Axel. He knew that Oak wanted to support him cause he wanted to be the Champion and even Pokemon master in the future. But he never thought that Oak was planning to groom him as his successor.

"As for the test, it would start now. There are 2 tests. If you pass them, you would be my disciple. Are you ready?"

"Yes.", said Axel correcting his posture and standing straight as if he was getting ready for a war.

"For the first test, I have a question. Do you want to be the next Pokemon master?", asked Oak

"Yes, I want to be the next Pokemon master" replied Axel in a resolute voice.

"Ok then. Congratulations kid. You passed the first test" said Oak patting his back.

Axel had a surprised look on his face. He didn't think that the test would be so easy. Meanwhile Blue said

laughing "I also had the same look when Dad said that I passed the first test."

"Now for the second test. Since you are a trainer, I would like to test you in a battle. You would battle 1 of my Pokemon from my main team.", said Oak.

Axel was surprised again. Cause how powerful was Oak's main team? This guy had been the Pokemon master for many decades. How could Axel an intermediate trainer beat any one of the Pokemon in Oak's main team? Forget the main team, Axel believed that he could not even beat his substitute teams.

"But Prof. Oak, I don't think that I can possibly win against 1 of your Pokemon in the main team. I just started my Journey 6 months ago.", said, Axel

That was when both of them, Oak and Blue started to laugh hysterically. Blue was even holding his stomach while laughing. Axel felt bad when they laughed. He may not be as powerful as them, but he knew that he was not a bad trainer.

After controlling the laugh Oak said while Blue was still laughing, "You don't have to win against it."

"Then what do I have to do?", asked Axel

That was when Oak got serious and Blue also stopped laughing. And Oak said,

"Survive!!"
