Chapter 911: Healing
Chapter 911: Healing
With the addition of a new companion, Rowlet was delighted. Yuga\'s main Pokémon were all older than it, and there were no Pokémon of the same age for Rowlet to befriend. It had been longing for a playmate.
Snover, having lived alone until now, was also happy to make a friend in Rowlet. Thus, the friendship between these two little ones was formed.
Yuga didn\'t stay in Celestic Town for long. After visiting Cynthia\'s grandparents, he had Jamil take him to Canalave City.
In Canalave City, he successfully reunited with Mr. Drake. However, as soon as he arrived, Yuga received a call from his master, Mr. Kuni\'o.
According to Mr. Kunio, Celebi had not been able to awaken Torterra.
As per Celebi\'s explanation, the injuries within Torterra\'s body were caused by a Pokémon much stronger than itself, and it couldn\'t expel the foreign energy residing in Torterra.
Following this call, Yuga had Mr. Kuni\'o teleport Torterra\'s Poké Ball back to him and then contacted Professor Birch.
Since the Legendary Pokémon couldn\'t solve the issue, it was time to rely on human medical skills and technology.
Professor Birch found Torterra\'s condition was very interested and, upon receiving Yuga\'s request, immediately agreed to help.
However, he admitted that he had never encountered a Yveltal before and couldn\'t guarantee a solution. He can only do his best but ultimately leave it to fate.
Then Torterra\'s Poké Ball was then transported to Professor Birch\'s lab.
Yuga returned to his home in Verdanturf Town via the plane provided by Mr. Drake. The flight was much faster than a ship, and in less than two days, Yuga was back in Verdanturf Town.
Upon arrival, Yuga immediately contacted Professor Birch to inquire about Torterra\'s condition. To his disappointment, there had been no progress.
Not only did Professor Birch find it challenging, but he had also reached out to the renowned Professor Oak for assistance, and together they couldn\'t find a solution.
Yuga then visited Joyka in the Pokémon Center, but even she had never seen an injury like Torterra\'s. She even contacted her superiors and received no helpful information.
Frustrated and worried, Yuga realized that Torterra\'s recovery might be an insurmountable challenge.
The elders of Joy\'s family were considered wise and experienced, and they believed that since Torterra\'s injuries were caused by a Level 1 Legendary Pokémon, only a Level 1 Legendary Pokémon could heal it.
They speculated that this Legendary Pokémon would either be a Dark-type Legendary Pokémon like Yveltal or the counterpart to Yveltal, Xerneas. At the very least, it would have to share Torterra\'s type, as other Legendary Pokémon might not be suitable for the task.
However, Yuga faced a dilemma. Where could he find Level 1 Legendary Pokémon? He couldn\'t risk delaying Torterra\'s treatment while searching for other Level 1 Legendary Pokémon.
Unlike the gradualy declined Chatot, Torterra\'s condition was unknown and could worsen rapidly if not addressed promptly.
Yet, not seeking a solution was not an option. Yuga was running out of options.
Regrettably, he had already used up his Max Revives. Two of them went to Dragonite\'s mother, and one to Zapdos. If only he had some left, he could have tried using them on Torterra.
Just as Yuga was contemplating whether to seek the help of a Level 1 Legendary Pokémon, the Meowstic, who guarded the Malamar, informed Yuga that the Malamar had recently developed a special item.
The Meowstic, who shared the news, suggested that Yuga let Torterra use this item, as it was created from the body tissues of Groudon, a Level 1 Legendary Pokémon that matched Torterra\'s type.
Their suggestion wasn\'t baseless. According to the latest information from Professor Birch, Torterra had been able to withstand Yveltal\'s foreign energy for so long thanks to the Harvest Tree on its back.
The Harvest Tree originated from Landorus, a Ground-type Legendary Pokémon. Despite Landorus being a Ground-type, the Harvest Tree, was a cherished treasure among Grass-type Pokémon.
It\'s because the unique Earth energy nurtured by Landorus, the Harvest Tree flourished. However, with a more potent Ground-type Legendary Pokémon like Groudon, one could only wonder what kind of growth the Harvest Tree might achieve?
Perhaps it would gain the power to expel foreign energies.
Given the explanation from the Meowstic, Yuga had to admit that it was convincing. When he examined the research result they handed him, he found a bright red potion.
This potion was developed for use by Ground-type Pokémon. Its exact effects were unknown because there was only one vial, and no more ingredients remained to create another. Even if it had a positive effect, using it as an experiment would be pointless if it was a one-time use item.
However, the Malamar assured Yuga that there were no negative side effects to worry about.
Yuga remained skeptical of the three Malamar, as their behavior often resembled that of unscrupulous scientists from shady organizations.
However, the Meowstic insisted that they could vouch for the potion\'s safety, as they had also contributed to its creation.
Despite with the Meowstic guarantee, Yuga was still hesitant to use an unknown potion on Torterra given the uncertain outcome.
Just at that moment, Professor Birch called Yuga and informed him that Torterra\'s physical condition was deteriorating rapidly.
Previously, Torterra had been able to resist the foreign energy left by Yveltal within its body, thanks to the special Harvest Tree on its back.
However, this tree was connected to Landorus, a Level 2 Legendary Pokémon, and could only provide temporary relief. With time, it became less effective.
Receiving this news, Yuga understood that he had to take a gamble. He instructed Professor Birch to teleport Torterra back to him.
The use of the potion wasn\'t as simple as having Torterra drink it. Instead, it needed to be poured onto the roots of the Harvest Tree on Torterra\'s back.
The Harvest Tree on Torterra\'s back had long withered, with no leaves remaining, and even Torterra\'s originally vibrant green shell had lost its color.
Taking Torterra into the Grassland Sub-Ecopark, Yuga placed it on a patch of grass and poured the potion onto the roots of the Harvest Tree.
At first, Yuga didn\'t notice any changes, but after about fifteen minutes, a series of green lights began to crawl up Torterra\'s shell from the Harvest Tree\'s roots.
Nourished by a significant infusion of Earth energy, the Harvest Tree joyfully swayed its branches. In the blink of an eye, it started sprouting, growing, flowering, and bearing berry.
On the instantly lush Harvest Tree, thumb-sized berrys transformed from green to brown, signaling ripeness. They emitted a unique and inviting fragrance.
Yuga had never seen the Harvest Tree bear berry before.
Of course, other Torterra\'s back trees would bear berry, as Yuga had observed during his time in Machina. Some trainers from the Temple Clan even had Torterra with trees laden with berry.
However, the berrys produced by ordinary Torterra\'s back trees were different from those of the Harvest Tree. They were usually the size of a fingernail and, while having the same color, lacked the alluring aroma.
Beside him, Snover, who had been watching the Harvest Tree berrying, had an expression full of longing and couldn\'t stop drooling.
Rowlet also stared intently at the berrys, appearing equally eager to taste them, although not as overtly as Snover.
At this moment, Torterra finally regained consciousness. All the withering and decay on its body vanished, and it became full of vitality.
"Great, Torterra, you\'re finally okay," Yuga exclaimed with relief.
Yuga breathed a sigh of relief and walked up to Torterra, gently patting its sturdy shell.
Torterra had lost consciousness after its previous ordeal, and it had no idea what had happened since then.
However, it knew that something bad must have occurred during its unconsciousness, which is why Yuga was so concerned.
Furthermore, Torterra could clearly sense that its body had undergone significant changes, with the most noticeable being that it had grown stronger.
Yuga then proceeded to explain to Torterra what had caused its fainting and how it had been revived.
Suddenly, Yuga turned to Torterra and asked, "Wait a moment, Torterra, have you become stronger?"
Caught up in the moment, Yuga had initially overlooked the change in Torterra\'s aura but now realized it.
...
Type: Grass, Ground
Ability: Overgrow
Gender: Male
Potential: Indigo
Level: 71
Moves: Tackle, Withdraw, Growth, Double-Edge, Rozor Leaf, Synthesis, Energy Ball, Sunny Day, Stealth Rock, Leech Seed, Grass Pledge, Earthquake, Leaf Storm, Solar Beam, Sunny Day, Rock Tomb, Stone Edge, Earth Power, Superpower, Seed Bomb, Wood Hammer.
...
Nothing else has changed much, but the level had indeed reached the Elite level.
"Congratulations, Torterra, you\'ve become an Elite level Pokémon," Yuga congratulated Torterra.
Torterra was naturally pleased with its breakthrough and nuzzled Yuga affectionately.
Yuga hadn\'t expected Torterra to be the first to break through in his second team. He had thought it might be Bellosson, Roserade, or even Venusaur, all of which had more seniority.
Yuga then introduced Torterra to Snover, as they hadn\'t met before.
Torterra warmly welcomed Snover\'s addition to the team and even plucked several berrys from its back as a welcoming gift.
Snover had been drooling for these berrys for a long time and eagerly started devouring them.
Seeing this, Torterra realized that Rowlet also had an eager look, so it plucked a few more berrys and offered them to Rowlet.
Rowlet\'s eyes gleamed with anticipation as it received the berrys.
Once the two buddies had enjoyed their tasty treats, they started running to the side to discuss their post-snack feelings.
Only Yuga noticed that both Snover and Rowlet, after finishing the berrys from Torterra\'s back, had leveled up by one.
It seems that the berrys produced by the Harvest Tree on Torterra\'s back are quite extraordinary, Yuga pondered in his mind.
Apart from leveling up, it remained to be seen if these berrys had any other special effects. Fortunately, there were still plenty of berrys to experiment with, making it relatively easy to verify.
Moreover, both Snover and Rowlet were currently at low levels, so boosting them by one level at this stage wasn\'t a game-changing event.
If these berrys were like the Rare Candies Yuga had obtained from the system before, which could only raise the level of Pokémon below level 30, their importance would be significantly diminished for Yuga.
Furthermore, Rare Candies could randomly increase a Pokémon\'s level by one to five, while these berrys didn\'t seem to achieve such effects.
Leveling up Pokémon below level 30 was relatively easy, especially for Pokémon with higher potential. With effort, they could reach level 30 or even higher in just one or two months.
In such cases, the impact of items that increased levels was not significant unless they were like the Flying Attribute Stones Yuga had obtained from Silgilyph, which could increase a Pokémon\'s level at any level. In that case, they were truly valuable.
Items like these were generally not very useful in regular circumstances but became crucial in special situations, such as breaking through bottlenecks like the one that had encountered by the Archeops.
However, Yuga speculated that these berrys might not be extremely powerful items, as Torterra produced an abundance of them in one go.
He wondered if the Harvest Tree would continue to bear berry in the future. Normal Torterra\'s back trees could continuously produce berry.
If the Harvest Tree could yield berry periodically, similar to Snover, it would still be a valuable resource, even if its effects were weaker than those of Rare Candies.
