Chapter 667: Misunderstanding
Chapter 667: Misunderstanding
Yuga replied, "It's not that you've done something wrong. You see, Psychic-type Pokémon with telepathic abilities are quite rare. Acting this way in front of so many people attracts attention."
"Is it bad to attract attention?" Gardevoir still couldn't understand.
"It's not that it's bad, it's just not very safe," Yuga explained, though he felt like he couldn't quite get through to Gardevoir. If he explained why it wasn't safe, Gardevoir might respond with something like, "I'll just beat them all up."
Yuga couldn't help but think that Gardevoir's past dealings with the King of the Arus Empire might be due to its lack of common sense.
Yuga decided not to explain further. "Okay, okay, no matter the reason, just try not to be so conspicuous in the future."
"Got it, got it. Humans are so troublesome. I didn't have to do this before," Gardevoir grumbled.
Back when Gardevoir was Celebi, it was the guardian of the Arus Empire, and people treated it with great respect. If Yuga found out about Gardevoir's thoughts, he might retort, "Yes, yes, everyone treated you with the utmost respect and even turned you into an Orb for worship."
Seeing that their "master" had returned, the onlookers dispersed quickly.
Just as Yuga and Gardevoir were about to return to their hotel, they were suddenly stopped by someone.
"Hello, sir."
This person spoke politely.
"Hello, is there something you need?" Yuga replied politely since the person was courteous.
"Um... um... my lady would like to meet with you."
This person stammered while speaking.
Yuga thought, "Well, a young lady is looking for me today? Could it be thay my luck is finally turning around today?" However, he found the person's tone a bit odd.
Although he didn't know why this lady was looking for him, Yuga didn't mind going to meet her, given the person's politeness.
Anyway he won't be robbed.
"Ms. Solidad, you can go back first," Yuga said, turning to the person behind him.
Solidad understood that Yuga had business to attend to, so she nodded and went into the hotel.
Yuga, accompanied by Gardevoir, followed the person to a nearby beach. There, he saw a young girl in a bikini lying under a beach umbrella.
"The gentleman has arrived," the person leading Yuga said, bowing to the girl on the sun lounger.
The young girl sat up, removed her black sunglasses, and looked Yuga up and down.
"Is this the person?" she asked.
Yuga thought, "The way she's talking doesn't sound right. Why does she sound so condescending?"
"Yes, ma'am," the person leading Yuga replied with another bow.
"Have you told him?" the young girl asked, putting her sunglasses back on and lying down again.
"Not... not yet," the person stammered.
"Then you talk to him," the young girl said.
Listening to the conversation between the two of them, Yuga was getting impatient, especially with the young girl's attitude. If she had invited him here, why was she acting like he didn't exist at all? how disguting.
"I say, if you don't have anything for me, I'll be on my way," Yuga said, though the person leading him was polite, the girl's haughty demeanor made him lose interest.
Where is the romance? It's more like wasting of time!
"This, sir! Please wait, please wait," the person leading him hastily spoke up.
"We... we actually want to discuss something with you," he said, clearly lacking confidence.
Discussion? I don't think your young lady has the right attitude for a discussion.
"Go ahead, what's the matter?" Yuga's tone was dismissive; he couldn't be bothered.
"Our young lady wants to acquire your Gardevoir," the guide said through gritted teeth, clearly aware that their request was unreasonable.
"What?" Yuga exclaimed.
"What!" Gardevoir echoed.
Yuga and Gardevoir both responded in shock, with Yuga thinking he might have misheard, and Gardevoir expressing surprise, if not anger.
"Don't get me wrong, we are willing to pay!" The guide wiped the sweat off his forehead, feeling like he'd just been on a rollercoaster.
"Do you know that buying and selling adult Pokémon privately is illegal?" Yuga asked, confirming that he hadn't misheard, and also addressing the young lady behind the guide.
This was a law known to anyone in the League, even though some still engaged in such transactions discreetly. Yuga himself had done so on occasion, even buying adult Pokémon from the League, such as the batch of Lopunny and Pachirisu. However, those were under special circumstances.
The League had this law in place to prevent the disruption of the bond between Trainers and their Pokémon.
But the young girl in front of him seemed to be quite familiar with this practice, and she wasn't hiding it.
Before anyone could respond, Gardevoir jumped in, "You think you can buy me just like that? Have you even considered the price? Dream on!"
The guide's forehead was now even sweatier; this young man didn't look easy to deal with, and Gardevoir wasn't exactly cooperative either.
"Yes, a Gardevoir with personality, I like it," the young girl said, sitting up again, taking off her sunglasses, and looking very satisfied with Gardevoir.
Seeing this, Yuga felt like his IQ had been thrown on the ground and stomped on. This girl might be a few cards short of a deck; otherwise, she wouldn't say or act like this.
"Sorry, but I have no intention of selling Gardevoir. Goodbye," Yuga said, feeling that if he talked to someone with such limited intellect any longer, his own intelligence might suffer.
Gardevoir was quite pleased with Yuga's attitude, thinking, "This guy understands."
However, as Yuga and Gardevoir turned to leave, they were stopped by the girl's bodyguards, not just one but several of them, surrounding them from all sides.
The beach was now attracting attention due to the commotion, with people pointing and whispering, but the young girl seemed completely unbothered.
Yuga was seething inside.
"Are you..." thinking of using force?
Yuga began to ask, but before he could finish his sentence, Gardevoir used its psychic power to fling all four bodyguards away, as effortlessly as plucking onions.
The young girl's eyes sparkled even more at this point, clearly even more satisfied with Gardevoir. Only the guide was left feeling utterly drained.
What to do? What to do? He felt like they had provoked a big shot, and he had known all along that his young lady was bound to get into trouble sooner or later.
"Speak up, what would it take for you to part with this Gardevoir?" the girl asked Yuga.
Yuga looked at this haughty and domineering girl and couldn't help but think she needed a dose of reality, something she clearly lacked.
With her attitude, did she really think she could just use force to do a sale?
