Chapter 587: Exchange
Chapter 587: Exchange
Robert replied, "You\'ll see once I show it to you. I promise it\'ll be quite surprising."
With that, Robert carefully opened a palm-sized velvet box, revealing that the contents inside were likely very valuable.
It turns out to be a Mega Evolution Stone.
As Yuga raised an eyebrow upon seeing what was inside, Robert said, "Don\'t underestimate this inconspicuous stone; it\'s a Mega Evolution Stone that can trigger another evolution for Venusaur."
Upon hearing this, Yuga\'s eyes lit up. A Venusaur Mega Evolution Stone! He remembered that Robert didn\'t have a Venusaur.
"I recall you don\'t have a Venusaur, right?" Yuga inquired.
"Oh!" Robert seemed momentarily stunned.
"Aren\'t you more surprised that Venusaur\'s final evolution can go even further?"
With a smile, Yuga retrieved a stone similar to the Venusaur Mega Evolution Stone Robert had just shown him.
Seeing the second Mega Evolution Stone, Robert widened his eyes in disbelief.
"You know about Mega Evolution?" he asked.
Yuga nodded. "During the competition, I met Kalos\'s Elite Four Siebold, and he informed me about it. I also happened to come across this Mega Evolution Stone by chance."
In fact, when Yuga had obtained this Mega Evolution Stone, Robert was present, but the stone had been stored alongside some Evolution Stones in a box, and Robert wasn\'t aware of its significance at the time.
"No wonder you weren\'t surprised. So, which Pokémon is this Mega Evolution Stone for?" Robert was quite curious.
Yuga smiled and said, "I think you\'ll be interested."
Hearing this, Robert\'s excitement grew, and he urged impatiently, "Come on, don\'t keep me waiting!"
"This is a Gyarados Mega Evolution Stone."
"Really?" Robert\'s eyes widened.
Robert had a Gyarados of his own and had considered catching a Bulbasaur to raise, but now, he had an even better option.
"So... does that mean...?" Robert was so excited that he stuttered.
"Would you like to make a trade? You have a Gyarados, and I have a Venusaur," Yuga suggested.
At this moment, Yuga was equally thrilled. He had left the Gyarados Mega Evolution Stone to gather dust for a long time. If not for the lack of a Key Stone, he would have already developed the Gyarados in his Ecopark into his main Pokémon.
Although Gyarados was formidable, Yuga primarily specialized in Grass-types and didn\'t have a strong affinity for Water-types, making it a tough decision.
"Trade? Absolutely! There\'s no reason not to," Robert replied with enthusiasm. He pushed the velvet box containing the Venusaur Mega Evolution Stone toward Yuga and eagerly grabbed the Gyarados Mega Evolution Stone from Yuga\'s hand.
With the Gyarados Mega Evolution Stone in his grasp, Robert stepped into the sunlight. Under its direct rays, the Mega Evolution Stone radiated a dazzling light.
"It\'s truly beautiful," Robert exclaimed, then suddenly turned to Yuga and said, "Let\'s find a place to see the power of these Mega Evolution Stones."
Yuga was puzzled. "Do you have a Key Stone?"
"Of course! Look!" Robert said as he pulled out a necklace from his clothing, hanging from which was none other than a Key Stone.
Seeing Robert\'s Key Stone, Yuga couldn\'t help but feel a very sour taste in his mouth, almost as if he were turning into a Lemonade.
"The Venusaur Mega Evolution Stone and Key Stone were both gifts from my Senior Brother. He\'s a Water-type specialist Trainer, and the Venusaur Mega Evolution Stone was of no use to him, so he gave it to me.
He also told me about Mega Evolution. Otherwise, I wouldn\'t have known about this amazing phenomenon in the world," Robert explained.
Yuga had a sudden realization. If Wallace had extra Key Stones and Mega Evolution Stones to give to Robert, then he might also have other Mega Evolution Stones and Key Stones.
The Venusaur Mega Evolution Stone might not be useful to him, but the Key Stone was different. It could be used with any Mega Evolution Stone. The prevalence of Mega Evolution in this world was far more widespread than Yuga had imagined.
"Follow me," Yuga said somewhat sourly.
With that, Yuga led Robert down the central corridor of the gym towards its depths and arrived at the entrance to the Ecopark.
Opening the Ecopark gate, Yuga gestured for Robert to enter.
Seeing the Ecopark, Robert exclaimed, "You even have an Ecopark here!"
However, Robert was only slightly surprised. After all, the Sootopolis Gym had its own Ecopark, which was much larger than the one before him. There was no need for him to be overly astonished.
However, Robert was unaware that the League provided special accommodations for the top three winners of the competition.
But then again, he had no reason to know, and even if Wallace and the Gym Leader knew, they wouldn\'t have thought to inform him. After all, he wasn\'t going to participate in the competition.
The Ecopark in the Verdanturf Gym had a small pond. It was the perfect place for Robert to test the Mega Evolution of his Gyarados.
Robert placed his Gyarados into the pond, and the Gyarados affectionately rubbed against him. It was clear that they had a close relationship.
"Gyarados, let\'s try Mega Evolution," Robert said, taking out the Gyarados Mega Evolution Stone.
The Gyarados looked surprised but nodded in agreement. It knew about Mega Evolution, but it only knew that its Trainer had a Venusaur Mega Evolution Stone. So, where did this Gyarados Mega Evolution Stone come from?
Despite the confusion, the Gyarados was happy and ready for the transformation.
"Are you ready?" Robert asked the Gyarados.
The Gyarados nodded, indicating that it was prepared. However, Yuga sensed a hint of nervousness deep within the Gyarados through his special abilities.
Robert didn\'t say any dramatic lines; he simply closed his eyes and focused on the connection formed between him, the Gyarados, the Mega Evolution Stone, and the Key Stone.
Standing by and watching quietly, Yuga soon noticed that the Key Stone in Robert\'s hand and the Mega Evolution Stone in the Gyarados\'s mouth emitted beams of light that connected them, leading to a successful Mega Evolution.
Robert opened his eyes and excitedly exclaimed, "It worked!"
He was about to approach the newly transformed Mega Gyarados and give it a pat on the jaw, as he usually did.
