Chapter 306: Onslaught of Ursaring
Chapter 306: Onslaught of Ursaring
Exploring the forest was indeed a challenging endeavor. Not only did they have to watch out for attacks from snakes, insects, rodents, and ants, but the environment itself posed significant obstacles with its rugged terrain, tangled trees, and undergrowth. Swamps could also appear unexpectedly, making every step perilous.
In fact, Yuga, Beidou, and Flannery were now blocked by a group of Grimer and Muk dwelling in the swamp.
One of them was accidentally stepped on by Flannery, and without a second thought, this group of sluggish creatures launched a barrage of filthy Mud Shot towards the three individuals.
Luckily, the vigilant Colorful Butterfly quickly activated a protective skill, saving the three from being "poisoned" by the nauseating purple-black muck.
"Vivillon, Sleep Powder!" Yuga commanded.
Removing its protective abilities, Vivillon flew into the air above the swamp, releasing showers of green powder. Before long, the Grimer and Muk succumbed to slumber.
The sludge mixed with sleep powder, and with the movement of the grimer and muk, it all became thoroughly stirred together, making it hard for them to avoid the effects.
Yuga and his companions didn't show much interest in these peculiar-looking Pokémon and continued on their way.
Not far after leaving the swamp, they realized they had unintentionally reached the boundary between the West Coast and the South Coast, as per Mr. Mr. Moore's advice. They had no intention of provoking the formidable Ursaring group on the South Coast and decided to skirt around the area, continuing toward the center of the island.
Just then, a heavily injured man, clutching a Pokémon egg in his hands, leaped out unexpectedly. His gaze first froze when he saw Yuga's group, but upon noticing Beidou, he became excited.
"Beidou! It's you! Please, please save me! Save me..."
Before he could finish speaking, a sturdy Ursaring, its eyes filled with rage, emerged. It glared angrily at the man clutching the Pokémon egg.
Seeing the Ursaring charging towards them, the man quickly scrambled behind Beidou for cover.
Yuga looked gravely at the Ursaring in front of them. This was a Pokémon at a level exceeding fifty, and dealing with it would likely pose some challenges.

The Ursaring, upon noticing the man taking refuge behind Yuga's group, roared in fury and rushed forward. It raised its radiant white arms and unleashed a Fighting-type move, Hammer Arm.
Yuga cast a sidelong glance at the man clutching the Pokémon egg. He hadn't initially intended to intervene, but seeing the Ursaring losing its composure and launching indiscriminate attacks, he had no choice but to handle the Ursaring first.
"Vivillon, Electroweb; Absol, Psycho Cut!"
As Yuga's command fell, an Electroweb crackling with electricity enveloped the Ursaring, followed by a colossal light blade striking the Ursaring directly.
The Ursaring, infuriated by the attack, roared in anger. The Electroweb that had ensnared it shattered instantly, and it continued charging towards Yuga and his group.
"Houndoom, Flamethrower!"
"Delcatty, Thunderbolt! Crobat, Confuse Ray!"
Recognizing the formidable strength of the Ursaring, Flannery and Beidou immediately provided support to Yuga.
A fiery column and golden lightning struck the Ursaring. While it caused damage, the effects were not as significant as they hoped, as the Ursaring ignored the attacks. However, Crobat's Confuse Ray successfully threw the Ursaring into a state of confusion.
But a confused Ursaring became even more furious. While it halted its advance, it started to recklessly attack the nearby trees and occasionally even itself.
"Now's our chance!" Yuga shouted.
Flannery and Beidou nodded in unison and commanded their Pokémon to launch another assault.
Houndoom's Flamethrower, Beidou's Delcatty's Thunderbolt, Crobat's Cross Poison, Absol's Psycho Cut, Vivillon's Psychic, all struck the Ursaring simultaneously.
However, being level fifty-plus Pokémon, they remained formidable. Despite enduring numerous attacks, the Ursaring hadn't lost its fighting spirit. In fact, the intense pain caused by the attacks seemed to snap it out of confusion.
With newfound clarity, the Ursaring stamped its foot onto the ground, causing countless sharp, blue stones to suddenly erupt from the ground. Flannery's Houndoom and Beidou's Delcatty were quickly incapacitated.
On the other hand, flying-type Pokémon like Crobat and Vivillon managed to evade the Ursaring's Stone Edges with their agile maneuvering. Yuga's Absol also dodged the stones thanks to its quick reflexes.
During the battle, Vivillon finally completed two rounds of Quiver Dance, reaching its limit. Its wings began to stir up air currents, transforming the surrounding air into thin threads that entwined around the Ursaring, and then, these threads turned into fine Cut, constricting the Ursaring's limbs tightly.
This was a fundamental flying-type move called Gust. Although not very powerful, Vivillon executed it with incredible finesse. Its thread-like constraints were as tenacious as Ariados' webs, but with the added capability of cutting, gradually tightening around the enemy.
This showcased the extraordinary control that Indigo Potential Pokémon possessed.
The now sane Ursaring suddenly felt as if it were trapped in quicksand, struggling became increasingly strenuous, and its movements grew sluggish. When it lowered its head to inspect, it noticed countless thin red lines that had mysteriously appeared on its arms and legs.
At that moment, Yuga's Absol launched another Sucker Punch, and Crobat's Steel Wing struck once more, landing a solid blow on the Ursaring's abdomen and head, respectively.
The enraged Ursaring could no longer withstand the onslaught and collapsed.
With the Ursaring now down, the group breathed a sigh of relief.
Yuga summoned Chimecho to tend to Flannery's Houndoom and Beidou's Delcatty, and both trainers recalled their Pokémon. Yuga then used a Poké Ball to capture the Ursaring that lay on the ground.
Flannery and Beidou had no interest in the Ursaring, and since Yuga had done most of the work, they had no objections to Yuga capturing it.
The Ursaring displayed considerable strength, and its potential was likely high. Pokémon with an potential lower than yellow rarely reached the level of Ursaring in the wild, a fact all present understood.
