Chapter 212: Uprising of the Nosepass
Chapter 212: Uprising of the Nosepass
Yuga and Volkner shook their heads simultaneously, indicating they didn't know either.
Flint opened the window, leaned out to take a look, and then pulled his head back inside. He said, "It seems like there's a problem with the tracks ahead, which forced the train to stop."
Yuga thought to himself: Is it really this unlucky? He had only taken the train twice, but it seemed like there was an issue each time.
"I'm going to find out what's happening." Flint was a bit impatient by nature, and waiting quietly wasn't in line with his character. He left his seat as he spoke.
After a while, Flint ran back and told Yuga and the others, "According to the crew, it seems there's been an uprising among the Nosepass and Probopass in the nearby area. They've caused damage to the tracks ahead, and emergency repairs are underway."
"An uprising among the Nosepass and Probopass? Why? It's not the season for them to evolve into Probopass, right? Normally, they should stay quiet deep within the Mount Coronet," Volkner said in surprise.
In certain areas of the Mount Coronet, there existed a unique magnetic field that could assist Nosepass and Magneton in evolving into Probopass and Magnezone, respectively.
However, the strength of this magnetic field changed with the seasons. This wasn't the time of the strongest magnetic field, nor was it the optimal season for the Nosepass to evolve. During this period, they typically stayed within the depths of the Mount Coronet.
Yuga glanced out the window and suddenly saw Officer Jenny accompanied by her Arcanine, investigating something with her subordinates.
"Why would Officer Jenny be here?" Yuga asked puzzledly.
Flint answered, "Oh, I heard they're searching for the cause of the Nosepass uprising. Apparently, the local railway management couldn't resolve the issue, so they've called in Officer Jenny for help."
"Oh, by the way, the forest rangers in this area have also been mobilized. The Nosepass must have caused quite a ruckus," Flint added.
"What could have happened to cause the Nosepass to act out like this?" Volkner asked, scratching his chin in confusion.
At that moment, Flint suddenly exclaimed while holding his communication device, "Look at this, my communication!"
Yuga and Volkner followed Flint's gesture and saw that his communication device's screen was filled with static, making it impossible to see anything.
Yuga and Volkner took out their own communication devices and found the same situation. It wasn't just them—everyone on the train had realized that their communication devices were malfunctioning.
Apart from communication devices, some navigation systems, computers, and electronic watches also experienced varying degrees of problems.
"Ladies and gentlemen, due to the influence of an unknown magnetic force, all communication devices in the vicinity are being interfered with. Please don't panic. Officer Jenny is investigating the cause!" An announcement sounded, aggravating the chaos on the train.
"It's likely due to the effects of this unknown magnetic force that the Nosepass are acting unusually," Volkner speculated.
Flint said, "That seems plausible. Otherwise, the Nosepass wouldn't have stirred up trouble out of nowhere."
Yuga asked in confusion, "What could possibly cause the magnetic anomaly in the Mount Coronet? It doesn't seem easy to manipulate the magnetic field there."
Flint and Volkner nodded in agreement, equally puzzled.
Suddenly, sounds of battle could be heard outside the train.
Yuga and the others looked out and saw numerous Nosepass gathering in formation, launching an attack on Officer Jenny and her team.
Due to the sheer number of Nosepass, even though Officer Jenny's team was strong, they were struggling to cope. Some Nosepass were even advancing toward the direction of the train.
"Passengers on board, if there are any trainers present, please assist Officer Jenny in repelling the Nosepass attack," a voice urged.
Evidently, Officer Jenny's team was short-handed and had to seek help from the passengers on board.
"Great, it's our turn to shine! Let's go help Officer Jenny and the others!" Flint was clearly the kind of person overflowing with a sense of justice. As soon as he heard they could assist, he became excited.
Volkner smiled and nodded in agreement, supporting his friend's sentiment.
Yuga turned to Chatot and said, "I'm going out for a bit. You stay here and take care of your wife and child, got it?"
Chatot, understanding the urgency of the situation, obediently nodded.
With a slightly concerned glance from Noctowl, Yuga assured it with a comforting look before recalling Eevee into its Poké Ball. He then followed Flint and the others off the train.
Before getting off, Yuga released Florges and Chimecho.
Outside the train, indeed, there were Nosepass causing chaos everywhere. Many trainers had already begun to help Officer Jenny, and both Flint and Volkner were engaged in battles of their own.
Flint's Pokémon was a Fire/Dark dual-type Houndoom, and Volkner had an Electric-type Raichu.
"Florges, Grassy Terrain!"
In a group battle, Grassy Terrain was undoubtedly one of the best moves.
As Florges spread Grassy Terrain, all friendly Pokémon on the field were invigorated. This included Officer Jenny's team, who had been battling for quite some time. Even Arcanine, who had been exhausted, quickly regained vitality under the influence of the Grassy Terrain.
Officer Jenny and many of the trainers on the field looked at Yuga and Florges with grateful eyes.
At that moment, a young man with disheveled blond hair said to Officer Jenny, "This is bad. We can't capture these Nosepass. They're acting weird."
While directing her Arcanine in battle, Officer Jenny responded, "It seems that unless we find the cause of the magnetic anomaly here, we won't be able to address the issue fundamentally."
"Florges, Magical Leaf!"
Yuga commanded Chimecho to help heal Flint's Houndoom and Volkner's Raichu while directing Florges to fend off the Nosepass attacks with Magical Leaf.
Both Flint's Houndoom and Volkner's Raichu fought fiercely on the field. Houndoom's flames and Raichu's Thunderbolt raged incessantly among the Nosepass, knocking down one after another as they relentlessly attacked.
Their battle perfectly encapsulated the traits of Fire-type and Electric-type battles: fierce and direct. However, they also sustained considerable damage themselves due to their fighting style.
That's where Chimecho's presence came in handy.
Suddenly, Yuga remembered something. He released his Vivillon and said to it, "Vivillon, use Sleep Powder on the Nosepass!"
This was a new skill that Vivillon had recently learned, awakening from its previous state of only knowing Stun Spore.
Upon hearing Yuga's command, Vivillon nodded and swiftly flew into the battlefield, deftly evading the Nosepass' attacks. It sprinkled clusters of brown powder over them.
